It`s been the same story for the last two decades. Occasionally, just about good enough to get out of League 2. Never good enough to stay in League 1. Not saying that we can`t change that, but it looks ominous to me. Ain’t going to change until we either get a new ground or redevelop the Mem. It’s as simple as that.

Left at 5-1 , that’s unacceptable.
Should’ve been drawing at half time, but Loft missed a couple of sitters and a lucky deflection gave them a 3-1 half time lead.
Can not believe that Kilgour didn’t start today.

On Twitter the same people who believe in Guilty until proven innocent also think it’s not OK to not be OK.
It’s a great article.

It was 3 years ago when I ‘rubbished’ the standard and quality of the ladies game. I then commented that, they would attract more fans if they played in hockey type skirts, rather than shorts,. Also that the woman’s beach volleyball team would have nobody watching if they played in boiler suits It was enough to send the gasshat mods seething with outrage who immediately when on to ban me from their site. What's changed since then, well first of all, the ladies game has improved 100%. The skill, fitness and understanding is plain to see. BBC Sport (or lack of it ) tapping into a cheap fix to add to Wimbledon will no doubt help it to grow. Let’s just say if we lived in a parallel universe could we be considered ‘gay’ if we were seen to prefer to watch men’s football - uggggg! Siri, show me the definition of mansplaining.

Between 10th -12th. Too many teams in this division with a lot more money. This is realistically the peak as long as we stay at an undeveloped Mem.
Btw even though 442 had us 16th, it was still higher than the other three promoted teams.

Good grief Swiss. I hope you're ok, genuinely, because you seem mightily upset about the most minute of minutiae just now. Enjoy the next week Brother, as we have football to watch soon. UTFG 🏴☠️⚽️ I'm fine thanks Doc and hope you are too. You are probably not aware but about ten years ago your name came up in a conversation about Rovers travails at the "English Pub" here in Kentucky. I was having a few pints with a mutual acquaintance (Rob) and while talking about forum contributors he told me you were one of the "good guys" which is something I've never forgotten. When I received the picture from my friend I could just imagine him and a few other ageing sh*theads sitting around a table in a pub in North Somerset with their beer bellies wobbling as they laughed about it. And quite honestly when I got the message I laughed out loud too because I've always enjoyed seeing the funny side of the Rovers / City rivalry. What Bath Gas has posted about some fans only being interested in the football is quite true and I know you and Father Jack come into that category. But as you are only too well aware I am in a different category so the way the business is run intrigues me just as much as the performances on the pitch. And I am absolutely convinced that Rovers will never achieve our potential until there is a complete culture change at the club and we stop pretending things are going well when they are quite obviously not and stop putting allegiance to the owner before allegiance to the club. Shall I stop there or would you like another 1000 words ? Au contraire dear Swiss, as my good friend Dr F pointed out I spent the thick end of 3 decades, going back to potentially moving to Mangotsfield and sacking Dennis Rofe, worrying about the off field situation at Rovers. It’s always been piss poor, going back to Flook and Bradshaw selling out our right to play at Eastville for a quarter of a million. I’ve just realised that a) any influence is minimal, b) at least I see elements at the club trying to be more professional and c) it ain’t me and Dr F that need persuading, but the 90 plus percent of Rovers fans who have never feigned any more than a passing interest in how the club is run. So I’m more than happy to go to games and enjoy the football now. FWIW there are more good people at BRFC than I have ever known. The community department is something we should all be truly proud of, the players ‘get’ what it means to play for Rovers, and I honestly believe that Tom G and team have a good vision of what Rovers is and can be. All of that is a massive improvement on where we were a decade ago. The millstone is, and will always be, the stadium. No one is going to build us one for free, so how do we build something that is fit for the 21st Century?

The Mural

Why is the owner on the mural, he has never played a game for Rovers, yet he shares a place on the bog wall with difficult to identify former hero's. Did the owner commission the mural, the guy does come across as a someone with a massive to be loved identity problem. He's a walking billboard when it comes to selfies, why doesn't he commission a Rovers benefactors mural behind the Thatchers End so we can all remember the contributions the Dunford family made and Higgs did to keep the club afloat for all of us to continue to support. And on reading the Pravada Chat board, his best mate is telling us that the FM isn't going to happen and the ROI on a redeveloped Mem doesn't make sense even though he's not in ITK, but, his hero has only been properly in charge for two years and two months and we need to be patient to give him a chance. I suppose when your losing £80,000 a week you have every right to control all opinions surrounding the club, through whatever social media channels, but hang on a minute, his maverick managerial appointment wants 6 or 7 new players in before September 1. There could me trouble ahead, but lets face the music and dance ! The only place I want a picture of Higgs inside the ground is inside a urinal, so I can pee on him every game. Stick Watola in there as well.

The thing that threw me was that on my e mail it said thank ypu for choosing e ticket as your preferred delivery option ? I didn't do anything of the sort. I was expecting to receive a brand new credit style card or be told that last seasons card was to be re activated for use this term. I have transferred my ' e-ticket' on to my phone { which is an inexpensive PAYG device } but will also take with me last years card to see if that works ' on the day' first. I am sure the club will clarify the situation prior to K.O on the 30th. Ditto to all of that. Am sure I read somewhere, that for those of us in this situation, last year's cards will be reactivated in time for the second game. Might be my overactive imagination, all the same. I haven’t had an email, despite standing about 2 feet away from you and renewed straight away. Presume my card from last year is A OK.

Helpline was great during the last few years of Eastville, it was useful during the Twerton years, and just seemed to be a one man ego trip at the Mem.
In the days of fan representation and active supporters groups (obviously not at Rovers, natch.) Helpline is a total anachronism. Throwing money at a club for so little in return just seems daft.

www.football365.com/news/who-ate-pies-football-food-bento-box-deep-fried-whitebait-john-nicholson“Bristol Rovers, a club that has revamped and invested in its catering facilities sell this tasty-looking plate…” “So many clubs all over the world manage to sell proper food that is quick to make from scratch and easy to eat while you’re watching the game. Lower-league clubs like Bristol Rovers, Forest Green Rovers and many more, are showing the way, because they know there is a good profit to be made in selling good food and have taken a progressive attitude to providing it. It just makes good business sense.” Do we really have any right to be mentioned alongside FGR in terms of being a progressive club? What, pray tell, is 'progressive' about a club that describes domestic violence as a 'victimless crime', and which is bankrolled by a rich kid graduate of our private school system? Anything that is 'progressive' about our club is largely something of a geographical accident, namely that we are fortunate to be located in a diverse, cosmopolitan part of the city. Would anyone seriously disagree that FGR are actually the 'progressive' model we should be seeking to emulate, both in terms of food production and more generally? Not a single bit of your word salad is in anyway relatable to the thread. I’ve done the Fanzone food a couple of times, usually at night matches (Saturday is for Thatchers and a cheese and pickle roll in the Civil Service Club). The crepes were excellent, nice to have a decent coffee. The jerk chicken looks amazing, I’ll give that a go next evening home game, which is currently 2023.

All very subjective but if you had a poll, to gauge the top 3 from here then Bowie would be there. In my view the Beatles ( GERMANY PERIOD ) were the best rock n roll group but the pink Floyd outsold the pair. You could ask 100 people and get different replies. A time when Britain was truly great IMO One of the interesting things with the Beatles is that quite a few of the musicians who were around at the same time certainly didn't seem to regard them as the greatest band of all time. It seems a lot of the respect and acclaim was retrospective and part of the cultivation of a Beatles mythology that made it heresy to even question their status as the GOAT. The Beatles are also often spoken about as if they created the counter-culture when they actually rode the crest of a wave and appropriated the acclaim that should have gone to superior groups. One of the many reasons I dislike them. I've not really got Pink Floyd (especially the later stuff) or Bowie, to be honest. The greatest rock and roll group from the 60s would have to be Led Zeppelin (formed in 1968), surely? In terms of innovation and range, as 60s bands go it’s The Who all day long for me. From My Generation to Tommy to Who’s Next to Quadrophenia and finishing with Who Are You.

I was condemned for pointing out the attack on the Scunthorpe goalkeeper and told I was making it all up.. Glad I was correct doubt those who criticised me will apologise mind you. Not sure you'd class being pushed as an attack? A - He shouldn’t have been on the pitch B - A push on anyone is classed as an assault. So yes, it was an attack, hope he gets a life ban. Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

The point, the only point, is that our pillock fans shouldn’t have gone on the pitch after the goal. And it weren’t just kids by any stretch of the imagination.
Yes the ref probably over reacted. But we should never have given him the opportunity to make that decision.

Yep I should have included Bert Tann - Oldie you are on the money, Iam bored and with 3 months to kill.before we have a promotion push to the Championship I have resorted to bulls**te poll when we know it’s a two horse between DC and JB. I have watched the Gas for over fifty years and for me, by a country mile JB and his team are the best ever to Don the blue and white quarters. Iam actually beating the bookies, it’s a bit like having inside knowledge such has been the been .the predictability of the impossible. JB felt that Northampton were going to win, so it will come down to goals, minimum of 6 goals needed , therefore I covered 6-0 7-0 8-0 which in any normal circumstances would be fanciful. Having every confidence in JB and his team the impossible becomes a ‘walk in the park’ Maybe I will go on a cruise. I always fancied doing that or maybe a couple of weeks in Vietnam UTG Did you actually ever go to Twerton Park? What Gerry Francis achieved there, with so many limitations, will never be beaten. Plus it was a whole division higher than any of DC or JB (or PT, who also got us in the FA Cup quarter finals) have achieved.

Happy Gameday Gasheads! How excited are we for this one? On a scale of 1-10, I'm about 150 (yes I know that makes no sense at all). Perfect weather. Perfect football drama. Happy days. We can do this! i love it when it makes no sense at all. 😄 days like this is why we are fans. History in the making. Memories of THE BIG GAME. A bit like the Four Lions song, only I can see Boden dancing through Riki Villa style, browner on the follow up, and… it’s Sammy Igoe! Sammy Igoe for Bristol Rovers… Four Lions? A song from the brilliant Chris Morris comedy about suicide bombers?
