If we dont make it automatically it will be too many losses compared to other teams that will cost us

Even at our level over the years, I've seen police abuse their position many times without redress. and even in the modern era they do not address matters correctly I remember when we lost to Birmingham in the cup 3 nil a few seasons ago I was very concerned about the congestion in the away end when their stewards failed to increase the seating availability so all the gangways were blocked If anyone required medical attention there was no way the services could get to him / her quickly I remonstrated with the chief steward before half time and also spoke to the police office in charge whose response and attitude angered me greatly despite my approach being reasonable He dismissed the whole problem as not being a police matter and left to stewards! I subsequently emailed West Mercia police and did not receive even an acknowledgment! I believe that the police service has a very difficult job to do but on occasions they just don't help themselves

There was no punch. There was just a typical scuffle for the ball after Matty Taylor got Rovers' first goal. Ellis retrieves the ball, keen to seek an equaliser.Ellis might have got away with a little over-exuberance, but nothing compared to the offences Marquis (27) committed, unpunished by the referee, throughout the game. Edit: Sorry! Much lengthier debate (arguably too much debate) on this topic (and others) on the Northampton Highlights thread on this forum. Increasingly shrill protests from Cobblers when they should be celebrating their promotionSpot on re both points - goalkeeper wanted to hold on too long - he had also be interacting in a negative and provocative way with supporters for most of the half Very poor refereeing re Marquis a nasty footballer in very way some may call it 'professional' I call I cheating However that is what you should expect from a Wilder side! The deserve to go up but I saw nothing over impressive about their play once the game was taken to them Will need to make signings to stay in League One

Agree - even though our victory against Pool was welcome they created quite a few decent chances (hit post and bar) and I thought they were brighter and quicker both breaking from midfield and up front on several occasions

7 points from a possible 24 I think?
I believe that new board will be looking a DC as much as the players between now and the rest of he season imho

And this is what football has sadly come to throughout the leagues
Clubs not run like a business - income not meeting expenditure and only surviving due to football rights pay outs / premier league / football league subsidies etc so because of the wrong structure in the sport virtually all clubs needing a money man to carry on / bail out
The sport is littered with people who have no real affiliation to the club and supporters and merely see it as their investment / play thing I blame the Premier League / sky (even though I am a subscriber) for most of the problems
So if and it is a big if we 'suffer' a takeover how are we ever going to face City fans whom the majority of us have mocked re Mr S L?
We would not be in need of this if we had the right people in charge of the club for the last 15/ 20 years imo - other smaller clubs cope why cant we? We have a huge fan base in comparable terms / enough revenue streams - I despair with football as a whole
Much as it pains me to say it would be a good thing if a substantial number of clubs went of out business completely to bring people to their senses

Turned prof. nearly 5 years ago made only 96 apps scored 22 goals and majority of those in non league during that time he has worked under several managers inc D C Surely if he was that 'good' would he not play week in week out?

With respect I think you are over reacting or may have misunderstood my point I dont have anything personally against him and have never sniped at him ....in fact the opposite But imo he has had enough opportunities to make a case for a regular and positive team contribution but ultimately failed When compared to taylor / easter / bodin and now gaffney he has cone up short in DC 's eyes otherwise he would not have gone out on loan surely?

Am I the only one who doesnt really care whether Ellis stays with us longer term? Obviously I hope he regains full fitness but over a some years he had failed to perform consistently imo Despite words from DC I dont believe he is the player he wants..... lack of application and not a sufficiently good enough football brain

My understanding is that one of their few duties is to:
'Maintaining decorum in the teams' technical areas and interceding in situations where coaches, bench personnel, or substitutes become agitated'
So why wasn't any action taken against Argyle manager and assistant manager at least in the first half who were regularly out of their area / complaining constantly about decisions to the fourth official
Guess it is why football is in such mess imo - no respect for officials generally / leads to 'professional' fouls being allowed to go unpunished / players haranguing officials etc ....FA ad FA both culpable
The referee yesterday had a shocker - missed at least 4 bookable offences in the first half - should have made a precedent early on and failed to do so

Nothing to add to this thread today then? 1. Largest 3rd round attendance at Hawthorns since 1993. 2. Draw 2-2 against Prem opposition and should have won if ref played right amount of time. 3. Take 5,300 away. Only 900 short of BRFC HOME attendance in December v Carlisle. Yeah i can kinda see why nobody felt like making a Cotterill comment tonight. "We're Bristol City, we do what we like....." Hope you enjoyed the away game v mighty Barnet today. A good effort well done old chap but I think you will find that we took more than that to our away cup game at Fulham a few years ago and in fact had more fans than the home side??? !!!

I agree but it is fun to read the comments of Kaiser and the likes - almost as pathetic as their joke of a manager whose personal qualities are frankly laughable - I would never ever want his like managing our club.... totally embarrassing!
If and I do acknowledge it is a big if we do eventually perform in the same league and have the ground capacity I have no doubt we would have the larger support

His interviews? He's honest and he's forthright and he's passionate. He calls people out, he says when we've not been given decisions and he's not afraid to say where the opposition have been crap and not deserved. Not to say he isn't able to offer credit too. See his comments about Steve Bruce's Hull City. All in all if we stay up - which I think we will easily - he'll get time and money to improve the areas we lack. Hence the £9m offers before.. He is the proverbial loose cannon - who when matters go badly demeans himself and even dare I say it your club!! A good idea would be for him to be partnered by the Fat Controller Steve Evans of Leeds - a real dream team. The latter should not be in football given his history imo

Anyway let gets back on topic??
In all my years of watching football rarely have I come across such a Jekyll and Hyde as Mr S C ...... all wonderful when your shower achieve a good result but an absolute pig of a person when you lose - rude to interviewers / never HIS fault always the players / referees etc
Truly horrible and don't try to cover it over by saying he is passionate etc - the guy is just ignorant. At least when we have played poorly DC will not hide behind matters and tries to be dignified in winning and also in defeat
In reality Mr S C reflects your fanbase and club

I have followed and watched Rovers a few years before you started and agree with what you say in part!
However I may be only speaking for myself here in that my frustrations over many recent seasons are really around how the club is managed / marketed all of which is well documented and set against a background of such great support both home and away - How we all continue to do so when there has been such lack of tangible progress on and off the field never ceases to amaze me It is also so 'sad' to see small backwater clubs able to deliver what we constantly cannot!
I suppose we are all hoping that one day 'someone' will eventually know how to produce the sort of results and progress our support really does deserve?

The spine of the team
Goalkeeper situation
Dominant midfielder required - Lines going 'missing' again
Strong striker that Matty can playoff - Easter / Harrison not the answer imo

First two names on the team sheet for me would be Taylor and Lockyear - both I believe are not 'drama queens' get on with doing their jobs in an effective and professional way ....always give 100%
Matty has he critics and to some extent I can understand why but the bloke is a consistent performer, works tirelessly on and off the ball and has very good vision with some great touches

Agree and I have said for sometime that we are not physically strong enough in the air upfront and to my mind we are too much a 'small' side to compete in some areas What on earth does Marcus S feel about being unable to get players to score when he was a prolific striker himself?

The problem is with the national body and ultimately the FA For that association read The Rugby Union / The ECB and the LTA all with massive resources but cannot produce the output of success that they should - even Andy Murray spent most of his formative years 'outside' of the LTA And of course we should add the Premier League - not enough money reaches grass roots level imo
