Well I would like to go back to square one!
Scenario...
You are interested in buying a football club whether as a serious business investment or a 'plaything' given alleged family wealth
BRFC seems to fit...owner desperate to get out balanced by a passionate fan base ... a sleeping giant in football terms
There is deal for a new stadium on the table
So what would even the average fan considered before purchase?
Is the UWE deal viable and on the terms required by the purchaser at the outset? Surely establising whether freehold or leasehold was paramount...
If UWE deal fails is the club worth purchasing with or without expansion?
What is the plan B or even C?
You are a banking family but appear to have bought club on a whim with very little creditable business case planning
It was a purchase lacking in forethought and now looking more irrational as each week passes by
January will see the departure of both Billy Bodin and D C UNLESS the board change their stance and approach

Agree 100% the wheels came off as soon as he left
As an older supporter i can remember player loyalty but that disappeared years ago sadly
Lansdown was prime mover imo in Matty leaving just to spite us
Anyone who was once a gashead and turned to city has NO credibilty in football fan terms

Before i get a lot of flak this post is not something I actually wanted to create but .....
Having supported the club for over 50 years I am very concerned how the club is currently functioning
It is fact that we have achieved very little in historical terms and almost entirely lived in the shadow of city both on and off the field
I dont agree with the stupid levels of money within football but we have to 'accept' it like most clubs
The new owners initially gave us all hope that matters might change at long last but the absence of a plan B or plan C post UWE has left us no further forward imo .... redevelopment of the Mem is not the answer and may well never get off the ground
DC is VERY ambitious and I really dont see him hanging around IF January sees no major cash available for transfer targets We are short in at least 3/4 playing areas
People were quick to criticise Matty for leaving but city offered a better infastructure and a club run in a professional basis nevermind his personal wages increase
It is not hard to see DC being tempted in the same way

I cant believe how much space has been taken up since the original post - so I will add to it!!
Probably too old but in terms of increasing our support from a wider population surely it is simple? Anyone living in Bristol will be aware of professional football and if it is something they are interested in they go along and watch either Rovers or City
I have not been aware of any direct abuse of a non white supporter in the games I have attended and if so I would try to do something to stop it - that also applies to our players or the opposition
The problem with some of these areas is the over positive discrimination in favour of 'minority' groups to the extend that it annoys many with too much PC involvement and imo actually works against what people are trying to achieve by a more low key approach
It is also extends to not been able to act where action should be taken but authorities shy away for example Rotherham and Rochdale - even now people have to tip toe around the subject for fear of being called racist
Re the EU I voted out not because of 'foreigners' - I have been lucky enough to have travelled to different parts of the world and have nothing but respect for other countries and their people My vote for out was because we are already an over populated island and you cannot fit two pints into a pint pot (France same population but twice the geographical size for example) AND more importantly I dont want our country to be run by un elected gravy train civil servants who have changed the EU from a free market into a federal state and cant even sign off their own financial accounts

out of interest does anyone have any idea of how much acreage would be needed to accommodate a new stadium away from The Mem?

We miss Matty Taylor and have done so since he went to the dark side
We miss his hold up play, ability to bring others into the game let alone his goals
As for Ellis he has enough opportunities to cement a merited place in the team but still falls short imo and lacks the correct movement on and off the ball ... his control is poor
Lines is lightweight only good enough as a playmaker if he plays alongside two strong midfielders
of the team today only Sercombe Bodin and possibly Sweeney derserve praise

Whether we like it or not, the fact is the game is controlled by money and more importantly the agents that squeeze as much out of clubs as possible. If you're a good enough player you know your career is short and you will extort as much as you can and it is very rare to get any loyalty. My comments may be symptomatic of society, but unfortunately that's the way the game is now and if we don't go with the flow then we we will be cut adrift and left behind! IMO the Premier League is the WORST thing that has happened to football ever and the FA who is supposed to run the game are merely lap dogs and have allowed themselves to be dragged along in search of the Holy Grail - I will start a list: Grossly overpaid players out of touch with the fans who pay their wages The Wembley White Elephant - a concrete building with no emotion / over priced construction / terrible design and location Players running football matches not officials Far too many pundits Grass root football ignored Clubs NOT run like businesses - only stay afloat with subsidies from the likes of Sky / BT FAR too many over seas players limiting opportunities for home grown players Anyone care to add to this rant?

Not sure that any category of race should be overtly targeted as we would be stepping into the frankly stupid arena of positive discrimination which I have never believed is correct in terms of job applications for example
Whilst done for the best of intentions it runs the risk of working against itself and fans the flames of prejudice from others usually white IMO the best person for the job is the one who has the right credentials abilities and personal qualities
The PC and Diversity 'industry' has made a fortune for some and not always for the right reasons

On reading the title thread and other comments I am not sure whether I feel depressed or bemused!
I have supported Rover for over 50 years and I genuinely believe that most normal fans would never set out to either be abusive or non accepting of any non white supporters
Those that do are probably the same ones who bring any club into disrepute by aggressive behaviour and spoil the game for others under a mistaken belief that they are 'true' supporters
If potential supporters of any background want to watch Rovers I honestly believe that the majority of Rovers fans would NOT make them feel unwelcome
Maybe I am being delusional or perhaps it is that in both my professional and personal life I treat people as I find them... Period

I don't have a problem with his overall energy levels
However after several years his reading of the game is not where it should be imo
That said I don't agree with the over criticism from some sections in the crowd bordering on verbal abuse

Good that he tries to defend but is he not supposed to be an effective striker at the other end?
He needs to improve significantly up front

Seems a lot of dosh for somebody nobody outside of France has ever heard of. Who outside of France had heard of Jonathan Kodjia? Too many foreigners clogging up our game but that is another matter that we can blame the Premier League and F A for For the Premier League and F A 'read' FIFA - a bunch of idiots only interested in income

an 'extension' to his football brain would be useful and then we would not have to listen to 'he is only young' (now 23) 'improving every season' 'this is going to be his year' ' he needs time to mature' etc etc

Im probably getting to old re changes .... the game is great but could be a lot better However why dont the powers that be get to grips properly with the matters that really wind me and others I suspect (but perhaps I am in the minority) like:
Punishing clear professional fouls If a foul is worthy of a sending off then do it .... not take the attitude that it is 'too early in the game' an expression that too many pundits use Rigorously enforce the ruling that only the captain is allowed to discuss with the ref Punish time wasting Cut out all verbal abuse to officials Introduce two referees one in each half or 2 assistant referees on each line Punish players who incite opposition fans

Scabs and people chasing money win again then. 100% correct Harvey has a very chequered 'career' in football - like many that rise to the top of such associations it is all about creating a name for themselves by introducing something different in this case based purely on money as an inducement to win others over Then he can move on to some other position with 'look what I did' without understanding what the real fans feel Talk of doing this to improve the chances of national side is absolute crap - what can a technically superior young player gain from playing against less gifted opposition? He has ditched what was a good trophy for lower league clubs even if it would end up with a trip to the massive white and overpriced elephant that is called Wembley Like many others I have no intention of attending games as was the case last season

Though over 60 I am always interested in technology but I do wonder how much personal time and employment time is wasted by people using Twatter (my name for it) / FB/ Instagram / Snapchat etc?
