English Football League clubs could be allowed to make up to 5 substitutions per match from 2018 after the rule change was discussed at the AGM.

Really not sure of the logic behind this idea.

Noooooo.
3 is plenty.
Maybe we can make the goals twice as big and extend the posts upwards then count up shots that go over the bar but between the posts? All nonsense! Just cut out the cheating, get competent officials and leave everything else as it is and I'm happy.

Yea, what he said. We'll end up with attacking teams, defending teams, a goalkick specialist, special play formations, officials throwing rags out of their pockets when there's a foul, a hour long half time show in the FA cup final. What are these people smoking?

Give these pea brained muppets enough time and they will eventually come up with something like rolling subs that can come on/off the field of play unlimited times. Well why not....it's got about as much logic behind it as the plan currently under discussion. We're doomed I tell you. Doomed!!

Tinkering with minor things rather than confronting real issues. Doing something they can do easily rather than taking on problems that require some ability and enforcement. Clowns.

If you are a big club, say one that has just been relegated from the Championship, with pots of money to spend on a big squad, you can stuff your bench with top quality players who could all make a difference when brought on. The more players you can bring on, the more you can exploit this competitive advantage.
I must keep a lid on this tendency of mine to see ulterior motives behind every change the current EFL leaders want to bring in.

3 is fine. This seems like overkill for no reason and makes an out for managers when they can just chuck someone else on , or make early changes knowing they have more to use when they have cocked up.
If we were talking about an extra sub for a player if they couldnt continue if all 3 had been used then, that would be something (although some would try and play dead i am sure) Bit this is ridiculous

Maybe I'm being old fashioned but we've been merrily plodding on for years with cup format, play off final date change and substitutes.....and now all of a sudden we need change change change.
For changes sake.
It kinda reminds me of the new boy boss takeover in any company where has to be seen to make a difference at all costs.

It is blatant Americanisation of the game. As the poster rightly says, we will have an attack and Dee Fence, just like in American football and it makes a mockery of the game. Imagine the days of one sub at Eastville. This is a giant leap into making the game an absolute joke and will allow teams to sit on a one goal lead by packing the field with defenders. I guess, if thinking positively, it could also make it all lit attack but I doubt that. It will allow the teams with huge squads to use many more of their squad. It's a huge kick in the teeth and really is embarrassing. Watch out for further American rules to come in. Free kicks V the GK from the half way lime so the player has to run with the ball. I never thought this would happen. It's sickening

Have they not thought through that up to 3 or 4 players could kick someone up in the air, waste time, kick the ball away etc get a yellow and then be subbed?
As to specialist players, have we forgotten Dudsey was taken off for the pens in our play off final - 120 minutes too late mind you?
