Hmmm.
Not totally against a player being able to take a free kick and dribble per se. Perhaps it would cut out nonsense from the defending team and they would have to be alert

There are only two good ones, which is the ref can only end the half if the ball is out of play, and a goal kick being taken on the side it went out on.
The rest is horrific.

Two things - you meddle with some thing that has worked for years at your peril (that will not stop them) and you have to factor Sky into this as kos are determined by Sky, you see the ref waiting for the nod, and commercial breaks are more important to them as rule changes - the game will not be able to go over 90mins ish to allow the idiot pundits to talk their gobbledybollox.

FFS can't they just leave the game alone. It's served us well for almost two centuries so bugger off suits.

Im probably getting to old re changes .... the game is great but could be a lot better However why dont the powers that be get to grips properly with the matters that really wind me and others I suspect (but perhaps I am in the minority) like:
Punishing clear professional fouls If a foul is worthy of a sending off then do it .... not take the attitude that it is 'too early in the game' an expression that too many pundits use Rigorously enforce the ruling that only the captain is allowed to discuss with the ref Punish time wasting Cut out all verbal abuse to officials Introduce two referees one in each half or 2 assistant referees on each line Punish players who incite opposition fans

Topman, you are right, some of the problems come from referees simply not being good/strong enough. One of my many moans is the ball to hand free kick, here's the wording: the movement of the hand towards the ball (not the ball towards the hand)
the distance between the opponent and the ball (unexpected ball)
the position of the hand does not necessarily mean that there is an offence.
Refs get this wrong so often. (Another moan is when a player kicks someone up into the air, the injured player gets treatment and so has to go off while the miscreant stays on, it's done to avoid time wasting but gives a big advantage to the offending side.)

Not sure about passing to yourself for free kick Will it lead to yellow cards for not being 10 yards as play restarts
Penalty for back pass, how many free kicks do we now see once refs understood what was a back pass and what was a deflection

If the offender was booked, the injured player doesn't have to go off (as of last year's rule change), which is progress.

You are supposed to get 10 yards away. It might mean the defending team actually has to be alert and not use time wasting tactics

More hard work for refs to decide who is 10 meters away Also much confusion at moment 're be able to take quick kick or wait for whistle

Gesturing and pulling faces at us every time they scored. And you'll have to define 'incite', I get pretty lairy seeing anyone prepared to pull on a 1982 Ltd, Leeds, Millwall, Cardiff, Swansea, Liverpool, Chelsea, West Ham shirt, so consider myself incited, so they start with no players. Refs all over the field, are you sure? We can't get consistent decisions with just one bloke making it up as he goes along!

I predicted this when I was visiting Chicago. I am in favour of the clock off when ball goes out of play though. 30 minutes can turn into much more than an hour. The rest is pure Americanisation of our game and I hope sense prevails

Strewth! I was only joking when I posted on another thread about giving the pea brained individuals running the game enough time and they would come up with the idea of rolling substitutes. Seems they didn't need that much time at all to come up with other naff ideas if not that one. We're doomed I tell you, doomed. Here's my suggestion - how about football at 3pm on a Saturday afternoon? Reckon it's going to happen one day.

I vote that goalkeepers should have to wear oven gloves, conjoined ones at that and away teams must wear yellow unless the home team wears yellow in which case the away team must wear lemon chiffon

So Ifab are concerned that out of 90 minutes you only get 60 minutes actual play due to time wasting. To correct this they want to stop the watch every time the ball goes out of play, but reduce the match time to 60 minutes - so you end up with the same 60 minutes actual play!
What a load of b*ll*cks!!!
