I don't know about anybody else but I have no interest in Rugby League whatsoever, I much prefer Rugby Union. Not a question of like or not. Question is it another opportunity to ground share or even sell to? A labour income streams. Check out the history of rugby league clubs outside there heartland

Macey 23 Lumley 22 We were happy to play Lumley last season! How many young keepers have we had that we have not played and it's been a mistake? So how do some reach the statement oh Macey would not have played? Just proving my point Lumley a young reserve keeper from a Championship club.

Well the FA and the PL appear to be of the opinion that sitting in some teams age related squad for 5 years and never playing any competitive games but having the best coaches and infrastructure is now no longer a Good Idea. The narrative is that these teams should be allowed to compete in the league as a B team. This all just seems like bullcrap to me.I don't know the numbers but it seems to me like more young British players get their heads turned by the wealth and lifestyle and end up pissing it away than they did before. A B team wouldn't fix that, more like make it worse. Hardly the fault of the players. EPPP means its become very easy for top clubs to stockpile young players from the lower leagues at a low cost. No longer does a young player's ability determine their price, which is pretty backward for a league so obsessed by money. The B league idea is a method of furthering this stockpiling while rendering FL academies useless. If Chelsea/Arsenal/whoever can take a chance on 50 FL academy players, regardless of ability, for £2m under EPPP, its a risk worth taking for them. Not many players will turn down the chance of an Arsenal or a Chelsea if they love football, and I don't blame them regardless of motive. Yet look at where our talented England U20 side came from - Lookman, Calvert-Lewin, Lewis Cook - all from FL clubs with games under their belts. These players won't excel at senior level unless given games. Truth is the PL bent the FL over a barrel when EPPP was introduced, big lesson for anyone who thinks the Checkatrade trophy is a fantastic idea. There is an argument a young goalkeeper is less likely to get first team football at a team like us than a young defender and definitely a young striker. Given the issues of goalies confidence, how they command an area and defence (which is based on maturity and personality) and possibly one mistake destroying a career I think it is maybe more attractive for a goalie to do what Macey has done than an outfield player. Is it? Look at how many games Jack Butland had played at Matt Macey's current age. Both talented keepers yet one stuck to the Football League and got experience, while one played u23 games and has 15 senior appearances to date. It relates to my point above, experience rather than age is what gets these players into a position where they're mature and confident on the pitch. Then FL clubs need to show young players a route to the first team. Matt Macey would have seen, and could've asked around, and found out that young keepers at Rovers just get splinters sat on the bench and as soon as the experienced keeper isn't available an emergency keeper is signed often a young reserve keeper from a higher club. Best route for Matt Macey to play first team games for Rovers, sign for Arsenal

I suspect the other difference is that Matt Macey has been paid a lot more than locks over that period. I also don't believe he would've got game time here if he had stayed, as a club we always look for a loan goalkeeper rather than trust our own youngsters. Don't doubt he has more first team appearances (and not many at that) than if he'd spent all that time here. No brainer for the lad when arsenal came calling Without a doubt he would have been paid more...hence the comment games or cash. Don't footballers want to play football though? It's guesswork whether or not he'd have played first team football here but it would have been more likely for sure The point is I don't believe the choice was cash or games, it was cash and games. Any evidence of young goalies coming through at Rovers and getting a run of games,? You'd have to go all the way back to Ryan Clarke for any that got any time, and I'm not sure he got much.

And theres the difference...Locks has played 200+ first team games and Macey has played a handful (was on loan to Accrington) Games or cash? I'd probably leave that one to the manager. I think Broom will offer more down the flanks than Darrell but each to their own

There are perfectly valid points made by the original poster, I think we all feel frustrated at the lack of apparent off the field progress, and it is unfortunate for the owners that this has coincided with a dip in league form. In the defense of Wael and his family, they stated from the outset that this would be a gradual, evolution project. They made it clear from the outset that this was no Chelsea-style injection of cash. All they promised was to build and grow the football club, from the bottom up. I still believe that he and his family are good ambassadors for this club, and I still believe that they saved this club from administration. On the back of that, they deserve time to deliver their vision for Bristol Rovers. Having said all that, it would be nice to see builders happily creating a training ground right now. That would deflect a lot of the criticism and back up the evolution story. I see no problem in examining what is going on, as long as we do not sink to the insults (from all parties) that dogged a lot of the Geoff Dunford / Nick Higgs era. Can anybody explain if there's not a big cash injection how The Colony is going to be built at a minimum cost of £5m(?) Plus where's the £30m(?) going to come from to regenerate the Mem? Although somebody on Gaschat is now suggesting The Colony has now joined the UWE in being binned for Plan B! You don't need a big cash injection not to do something.

Another naff post from our illustrious chairman. Don't try to push anyone around? HYPOCRITE! Isn't he aware alot of whom he's criticising were GasHeads for years before he was around and I'm sure to keep in with consistency, he'll issue another post vindicating everyone saying how much hard work they've put in.. Just saying. It isn't him though is it? He is passing on the message from the inspecting authority who were at the match, which as chairman he has to do. Lucky this inspector has spotted blocked gangways as it seems from Hamers statement no one employed by the club has been able to spot this. Perhaps the chairman needs to ensure employees are doing their job before launching into the fans.

Basel don't get sucked into the EU delusion contrary to what appears to be the belief in Brussels (and one week a month in strasbourg) the EU is not Europe it is just comprised of some of the countries of Europe. UEFA controls football on Europe and that control extends within and without the EU. And UEFA are very firm in their independence when deciding with countries, of course except when they're afraid of upsetting Spain and fix the qualifying draw so that they can't be drawn against the mighty Gibraltar 🇬🇮

Very Rovers (and not in a good way). Sounds a bit like that choose or lose promotion being run by that piddling little crisp company. Forget their name though

What's the furore? The changes have been agreed with Holtby who is now the stadium manager (as he was) and will project manager for the new training ground. Ex-players will be leading on the hospitality. Guess holtby"s nose may have been put out of place with the less high profile role but so what.

Left to his own devices Mr Day would probably present us a playlist of the morbid mediocracy of Deacon Blue. The fact is him and DJ Lance have to present music that is suitable for more of an Auntie's wedding scenario. A set of hard house techno dance floor bangers might give 10% of the crowd apoplectic delights as they get their jam, but at least 80% will be left covering their ears. It's not a disco, it's some music before a football match. For me, the ones you can sing along to work best, so Smokie and Alice, Hi Ho Silver Lining, The Liquidator, Amarillo, Runaway etc are all fine for that gig. Jump Around by House of Pain was a laugh as well, but I understand the Safety man had objections to the Jumping Around. Go to a ground where they use the PA as part of an event to create an atmosphere It's great, honest. No it most definitely isn't. Now pipers on the roof at Murrayfield as it gets dark is way past great. A guy on a microphone exhorting fans to make more noise is just cringe worthy, next you'll want to employ people to start Mexican waves or perhaps blow a few vuvuzelas

Sat Gaffney scored, missed and had two attempts at putting opposition through. Gets no scrutiny. Last night gave silly foul away, no scrutiny. Ellis is under microscope. Look at all players the same way. Billy Bob has not impressed at all last three games, not much heard about that. How much do you expect from attacking players? Absolutely cracking ball from Billy last night to put Gaffney through for a clinical finish. But why did DC start Billy on the left when most of his goals come cutting in from the right and last night was the night to peppering the goalie with quality on target efforts (something Oldham did much better than us)? And 2 great finishes by gaffney recently but equally he shirks challenges there was a moment last night they were struggling to clear their lines we head the ball back to the edge of the penalty area and gaffney stands within a couple of yards of Gerrard and let's him have a free header to clear the danger. Fact is we have a number of strikers that just aren't consistently stand out, I'm guessing DC would love one of them to put their hand up and become undroppable. Can't see any if them doing that myself

One of his more I sightful statements except for the untruth about Rovers acquiring the site. But could you really put a 20 or 30k stadium on site a third the size of the mem. We certainly won't giving surrounding houses but it does seem amazing if Brighton have managed that

I wonder who the interested parties are? Bristol CC, Horfield Rose (or whatever they call themselves now), architects, funders, new investors? As we are talking to someone you would think he could put a bit more flesh on the bones, unless of course we aren't talking to anyone We’ve had some very encouraging preliminary meetings with people that would be concerned,” Hamer told the Post. “People we would need to have on our side about the regeneration and redevelopment here. I really hope that progresses.” That makes it sound as though it would be BCC and the residents ( ROSE or another residents association perhaps) Up to Nyone whether they want to beleive it though It could be and if it's so it's not difficult to articulate that is it? No need for cloak or daggers. Still you're amongst the many that will believe anything that "important" people tell you. I just hope the landing lights are still on it might give us a clue where we're landing
