I guess the moral of the story is if you're not doing as badly as someone else you most be doing well.

I see the 16/17 accounts are now out to shareholders. Club made an operating loss of just over £2m, plus a write-off of £900k being related to UWE. Report says Mr H Al-Qadi will support the club for at least 12 months from the date of the accounts (24 Feb). Does this mean they will sell next year or is this just a normal thing put into account statements? Not a normal thing to put in the accounts, despite what other experts say, but it will reflect the terms of the revolving credit facility between Bristol Rovers and Dwane Soirts/old man Al Qadi

A good sign if one of the boards biggest supporters reckons the accounts are prepared with an abacus.

It's frightening that otherwise intelligent people jump to the conclusion that they exist due to recent wars and those wars are why they don't like the west much. Investigate what the charges they have laid against the west actually are. I think you might find the entire population of the former Mesopotamia think that This is going back sometime to the old forum isn't it? If I remember rightly your argument was British firms couldn't do work in Kurdish parts of Iraq (ignoring the evidence of British firms actually working there) because we (& the French) had never created a Kurdistan. Of course had we created a modern day Kurdistan then British companies would obviously face hostility to contracts in modern day Turkey & Iran, a point you never did answer or indeed grasp. Galloway is a despicable syschophant but what modern history shows us is the world is a lot more peaceful place when the murdering tyrants like Saddam, Assad & Gaddafi rule with an iron fist. Of course they murdered great numbers of muslims in those countries but hey after their demise it was just left to other muslims to murder vast numbers of other muslims. Let's be honest muslims find it very hard to live with other muslims let alone none muslims. So his friendship of a murdering tyrant shouldn't be held against him. Indeed being a friend of terrorists isn't always a bad thing after all the UK was very fortunate that Corbyn was so friendly with the murderous b'stards in the IRA

well the tweet has been pulled and replaced from discussing New Stadium Plans with Wael to discussing with Wael Even by the standards of Bristol Rovers that must be one of the shortest lived new stadium development plans

Anyone who believes the money they give to charity is all reaching it's target & being spent in a 'morally' acceptable way is a complete fing idiot. I support a small Bristol charity called Deki. www.deki.org.uk/They lend money to people in Africa, to support their own businesses, which is repaid over a period of time and then the money is loaned out again. They also raise money in respect of their admin costs separately. Whilst all money does not reach its target at least you are aware of where the money loaned is going and it is long term help. I just like the concept and personableness (not totally sure that is quite the right word but you know what I mean). Sorry for the plug but it's just about on thread (maybe). Travelling extensively through Africa is what opened my eyes to the failing in general of all charities & NGOs. Everyone at best is just applying a very small sticking plaster to a problem, and one of the biggest problems is that the sticking plaster arrives in Africa as a very, very large sticking plaster but then everyone takes their little cut (because no-one will miss a little bit) and ends up a very small ticking plaster on a big problem. Still it is completely your choice to donate your money to any cause, personally I won't donate to any charities other than those operating fully in the UK, & to some extent Europe.

So a business losing money is obviously fine just so long as all of it's competitors are losing money? I'm sure that is a strategy for success That is not what I said and you know it - but unlike those who throw money at a loss, our shareholders are looking to EARN a sustainable company. And you still did not answer the question - what a surprise? knockers never do! If that's not what you saying then I'd rephrase it. As to answering your question I'm only interested & concerned about the fate of Bristol Rovers and indeed have no great knowledge of other clubs financial position (though I'd guess most aren't good). We can worry less when there is evidence of the owners writing off the debts that we have, just like the owner of the other club in Bristol. Do you have any evidence to suggest we should worry less than the fans of other clubs?

in the top 2 id say, him or andy spring for me, hang on ive forgotten that short black bloke putting the ball over the bar from a foot 2001 ish You all forget Bob Newton. For me the worst player ever to play for Rovers: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bob_Newton_(footballer)The only player I've ever seen take a penalty that stopped short of the goal line without the keeper touching it. An all time legend

My fear is in around 3 seasons and carrying on haemorrhaging money, we will be in serious trouble and maybe earlier than that. The owners won’t hear of outside investment either. Anyone’s guess is as good as the others but we are not in a good place financially though many simply don’t cafe to think about it. Maybe they are right You know that for a fact? compared with every other club in the country?Currently, it is widely said that our debts are about the same as our assets - better than 90% of all clubs in the lower leagues Why should we be more worried than any other club? So a business losing money is obviously fine just so long as all of it's competitors are losing money? I'm sure that is a strategy for success

My take on the football authorities position on the Mike Turl charge is that it is rather silly considering they allow alleged foreign forgers, tax evaders, oligarchs and much worse to own and manage our football teams - and many of these in the biggest teams in our country. Read more: gasheads.org/thread/7273/mike-turl?page=2#ixzz56tthuVylThis. 100% It's the modern world it is only wrong if you really, really break the laws or rules. Just a little breach shouldn't matter at all, Google or Amazon not paying their tax is obviously not on the scale of millions of people operating in the black market. It's not what you do but how grossly you do it.

If Pipe's in your worst 2 then thankfully you've forgotten a whole heap of appallingly bad players, Pipe literally only stands out because of his conviction (possibly why you remember Andy Spring as well).

brought the clubs name into disrepute plus he was crap And quite rightly sacked for his actions away from football. Being crap though has never been an impediment to being employed by Bristol Rovers and he was far from the crappiest player ever to be employed by us.

Didn't we wait until the outcome of his trial before releasing him? Could've been didn't commit the time line to my memory but what he was convicted of had no relevance to football. Just like the Plymouth goalie & the West Brom bloke but they are all demonisied for there past actions (as it happens I believe quite rightly). So why would we hold up Mike Turl as some sort of good guy when he has admitted to wrong doing in horse racing? At the very least he a f**king idiot (I do know people who know him personally through local cricket who suggest this isn't the case), I mean who wouldn't smell a rat when some guy says can I use £40k of your money to lay a bet using your account? At worst he is a ........ out to make a quick buck through inside knowledge. A shining paragon of virtue don't you think?

The only difference being is that many of the advantages gained you mention are , ahem, legal. Legality and morality have never really been bedfellows. Shades of grey on "legality" there Rex, but morality is rarely a defining feature when money enters the equation. Oxfam anyone? Anyone who believes the money they give to charity is all reaching it's target & being spent in a 'morally' acceptable way is a complete f**king idiot.

Correct. And anyone could see that the FA will always pick on the easy target and then say how tough they are on “wrong doing.” Solihull Moors are an easy target to act tough over. I dont condone the behaviour he has been found guilty over but as you say there are plenty of problems floating about the game at the higher end that are ignored. If it were right to sack Allardyce for what he did when England manager how come he is allowed to manage elsewhere? Do you need a higher morality to be England manager than a club manager? I guess you do. Basically the FA acts as a bully to the lower leagues because they can. No one is going to oppose them. If they tried the same tactics with PL clubs they would be faced with legal teams that would run rings around them. I’ve read about the guy at Solihull on here as having been involved in BRFC but not being itk I don’t know a lot about him but perhaps it’s a good thing he isn’t involved with us. I’m sure others might disagree.😉 UTG! I don't claim to know for sure, but my understanding is that he's not done anything wrong as far as football goes, but his generosity has raised some eyebrows and now his function within the club is being looked at. Let's wait for the outcome before deciding if he's actually done anything wrong. As for the horse racing thing, again, I only know what I've been told, but he seems to likes a flutter and regularly places hefty bets. Of course he gets tips, on one occasion his tip was correct but he had no way of knowing if there was anything sinister going on behind the tip. The daft thing is, he never drew the winnings from his account and by the time he found out that the booky was spitting his dummy Mike had already lost all of the winnings on other bets, so if he's part of some huge race rigging ring they are pretty rubbish at doing it. Neither did David Pipe

Of course it was. Do you know, you can go to America and you can talk to people, real live people, who will look you in the eye and tell you that they have been abducted by aliens. Petty Nationalism. Rees Mogg is a caricature of the type. Cloaked in polite and well spoken English, utterly devoid of any meaningful analysis. Now Trump like in desperation blaming the academics. What next? Burn the books for heresy? Interesting diversion in the right wing press today, allocating blame to George Soros. Is he Jewish? Ooh, surely that's not the point?? Best left to the likes of the Taliban, don't you think. And I can only imagine it's the rabid right wingers in the Labour party blaming a Jew for the worlds ills. Or have I missed the Labour party cleaning up it's anti-semitism issues?

Not to my knowledge although that is not a definite yes or no.I was given what information from an employee of the company and verified by a manager of a rival bidder who actually said they were glad they didn't get the contract. Ah, ok. Cheers for that, P. I mean, why would a stadium manager have social, if not business (in loose sense of the word) interests with a fencing firm? What possible pitch could be made there? Nothing, I guess. As you were.. I believe when things were rejigged after Tom Gorringe arrived that prt of Ian Holtby's new role was to project manage the training ground development.

old ground but the shares were devalued/scuppered ? The scheme was scuppered when the 28% was not achieved. By voting for a rights issue without any probability the scheme could take up their allocation the Share Scheme directors hopelessly diluted the schemes position. And there was the flaw in the scheme. The point is though once bitten, twice shy and I couldn't see fans being prepared to put hands in their pockets again especially when it would just be increasing the asset value of a publicly limited company (which I presume Dwane Sports are)

So 10,000 supporters raising a £100 a year to pay back a 25 year mortgage. Living the dream. 😅 Something like that. But you are right, our (So called) supporters scream for others to put their money in, but find excuses not to do so themselves? Boring innit The supporters have put there money in, and some still do, via the sharescheme. But the flawed scheme didn't protect their investment.
