The violence by Spanish Police on Catalonian voters is awful.Spains Goverment appear undemocratic and the EU mob turning a Nelson blind un towards the nasty scenes says much about them. So i get that. A football scenario from this apparent mess. Spain agree to give Catalan an official referendum on independence. Catalan vote to Leave. Spain refuse FC Barcelona to play in their Spanish League. FCB try to organise a European Super League but there's not enough interest and due to EU laws and Spanish sulking this project is another closed door to the Catalan giants. Then FCB try to join the Portuguese or French League, but these are non starters due to the 'great EU project'. So,FC Barcelona look towards non EU England,we in full Brexit mood say yes, come and join us,welcome. Barcelona join the Prem, which eg simply becomes a 23 club division instead of its current 22 (think that's correct number). Maybe one or two more Catalan clubs join too,in what would then be an English,Welsh and Catalan League. Loads of ifs, buts and complication i'm sure, but you see my 'day dream'. I know, all highly unlikely and my tongue is firmly in cheek. But in this world of apparent madness,it seems we never quite know. Bristol Rovers v FC Barcelona anyone.

No Chance!
If anything happened though I am sure the French or Portuguese leagues would jump at the chance of having Barca in UEFA approved. it would have nothing to do with the EU

Peter Parker. If it was anything to do with the EU,then Spain for one might block a FCB move into French or Portuguese Leagues. Don't things change once a country leaves the EU?
Chewbacca. That seems logical, but maybe the Spanish would be very unhappy with FCB.

Based on the EU referendum. Bristol should leave the Union remain in the EU and Rovers could join the comical League of Wales where they would be very succesful.

We'd be in the Scottish League (with Millwall, Man U, Liverpool, Newcastle and various others of those localities). Not a bad prospect, actually. So, Gas v Motherwell and Barca v Mansfield.

Basel don't get sucked into the EU delusion contrary to what appears to be the belief in Brussels (and one week a month in strasbourg) the EU is not Europe it is just comprised of some of the countries of Europe. UEFA controls football on Europe and that control extends within and without the EU. And UEFA are very firm in their independence when deciding with countries, of course except when they're afraid of upsetting Spain and fix the qualifying draw so that they can't be drawn against the mighty Gibraltar 🇬🇮
