I feel badly let down by the owner of the club hani.
Lots of broken promises on budgets,UWE and the training ground up and running by 2018-2019 all a bloody mirage!
Now we have a fan base expecting a top league one team when its more likely to have a badly struggling one.
Whats the point of taking over a struggling football club and not throwing serious money at it?
I wish the owners would just quietly fade away back to making millions in banking.
Feel sorry for darrell clarke as hes becoming just another struggling manager waiting for the sack as the support start to turn on him as all "fans" do in the modern era.
Higgs would have delivered a ground with the sainsbury deal at any time from the start of the new millennium until very recent changes in shoppers habits so at least in part was unlucky.
The present owners are right up there in a mini league with the oystens,venkys and the leyton orient lunatic for me.
I would have much preferred not having my hopes raised that we were gunning for bristol city with a state of the art stadium and a category 2 academy,yes remember that? a cat 2 academy!!

Name all the chairmen of bristol rovers that have done more for the football club than harry dolman or steve lansdown have at city.

You would rather be near bankruptcy and playing at best in League 1 with Higgs in charge. Blueiris - bit of perspective needed. You were one of the "happy clappy brigade" (as indeed I was) when the Al-Qadis took over in Feb 2016.
Post UWE collapse / charge on the Mem / Colony stalling - a lot of people have had a chance to re-evaluate our owners and hypothesise what the strategy might be post-UWE. I am one of them. No need to get bitter and twisted about things. I think you may possibly have been way too optimistic. And now you are possibly way too pessimistic. (Although I am leaning to the latter).

Higgs and Dunford hired experienced managers who let them down. Dunford secured a permanent home for Rovers, while Higgs kept faith in DC and supplied funds to build a team that enabled Rovers to get back in the league.
Current owner is building slowly, which is a sensible plan.

Complete twaddle, we can dismantle it point by point if you like, but let's start with this, in round terms, Sainsbury's were paying £28m, UWE was costing £40m (and rising) to build, where was the other £12m coming from?
Some of us warned that the best strategy was to be careful and get locals on-board, listen to them, incorporate their views into plans, just like the new owners are doing, of course it fell on deaf ears. How is that 'unlucky'?
Talk about rewriting history.

Over the top it may be but even his most ardent supporter must admit disappointment with his investment in the playing squad, if you take out the £300K we got for taylor my guess is we have spent very little on transfer fees in fact I think our recruitment this summer has been very similar to many of the previous seasons.I am not a fan that demands that a club chairman should invest shed loads of his money but as we have now got the richest chairman in the clubs history I think we could have expected a little bit more.

re-developed mem ? cant see it, we will for the forseeable be a div 1 team winning and losing a few,
i fully expect DC to move on too, [ of his own accord], hes ambitious and its not gonna happen here imo

I agree that DC is ambitious but until he proves himself beyond this level and in his ability to sign quality players then he is just another League 1 Manager. I hope he can prove with us that he is a top League 1 Manager but his summer dealings make me doubt this until proven otherwise. I am not convinced that he has the knowledge of the higher Leagues to succeed at that level but only time will tell.

We have a go at the darkside for demanding Johnson out last season and now look at us...supporters demand our owners or for DC to leave. As Stroudblue explained, it will take small steps. It will be a long process to change a club around starting from the bottom like we are (infrastructure, training facilities). No point just chucking money at a club for it all to be wasted and toxic like it used to be. Just strap in and enjoy the rover rollercoaster ride like we are used to  and pipe down. |
