source="/post/170293/thread" timestamp="1531929154"]well, a bit riskier than most signings, but a lot more potential too by the sounds of it
more good news IMO[/quote]

We have sold our top strikers as well, but hopefully we are on the brink of replacing one of them.

Beat this if you can (true story), during the 1962/63 season I hitch hiked to Hull to watch the Rovers and took my football boots in a holdall in case they were short of players.

Whatever you think of Wael's intentions for the club what worries me is there is no doubt we have been lied to on numerous occasions,I can give several examples but the one that sticks out like a sore thumb and rankles with me the most is dont worry if the Uwe falls through we have a plan B in place, that was patently untrue.

Are they still moaning? I think post-UWE and our owners refusal to communicate what their plans were, there was understandable frustration. Talk of a total Stadium redevelopment was very poor expectation management (at best) and that certainly got my back up. Whatever. I'm over it. Now we can actually see that regeneration is happening - no moaning from me. The shop looks great. The bar sounds like it will be a vast improvement. A ticketing system for the 21st century will replace one from the 19th century. I think the Club should be shouting more about these important developments as they slowly build a sustainable, attractive football Club. Maybe a great time for Wael to get back in front of the camera and help share all the good things going on at Rovers. UTG. He's going to have to get himself out of the hole that he climbed into with that silly stuff about how everybody should shut up because he had, what was it, a team who had built 12 stadiums working on the next new project? We all knew it was total guff at the time, the problem was, it had a horrible feeling of how previous regimes had talked to us, and as always, when you talk rubbish you tend to get found out. Maybe Oldie should check the meaning of Hubris before using it in a way that suggests previous owners were guilty of it but Wael less so.

How can you call a man a snake when he was instrumental in gaining us back to back promotions, he left us because he was offered far more money, despite them being our biggest rivals. I cant imagine any of us doing that in similar circumstances.

For those of our fans who still seriously believe that our owners have the slightest intention of redeveloping the mem could you please meet on the city centre at 8.00pm tonight and I will send a big white van to pick you up and take you to the nearest lunatic asylum.

It's a nonsense to say get three or more quality players and we will be in contention, that probably applies to almost every other club in the football league. Despite a couple of decent acquisitions I am generally very disappointed with our transfer activity this season. It pains me to say it but unless Wael gives DC a decent transfer budget next season I think our chances of keeping him here are non existent.

I know theoretically we could still make the play offs or get relegated but realistically our season is over. We should be challenging near the top of the table but when you consistently sell your best players and don't replace them the chances of progression are very slim.

Correct decision as the weather would have worsened as the evening had progressed. One thing that didn't make sense is why according the referee the whole pitch was frozen when he made his inspection. What sort of state are the covers in and what was the point in covering the pitch if they don't work. My question would be why were we the only league game off last night, even the two Scottish premiership games were on, I cant imagine St Johnstone or Hearts have undersoil heating and I cant imagine it was colder here than anywhere else in the country.

I have never doubted Waels ability to sound sincere and say all the right things, but I prefer to judge someone on what he has actually done over a two year period and not what he says he will do. Also can anyone answer why we have got a bottom six budget (as reported in todays post) a relatively small squad for this league as reported by DC, when our gates are in the top eight of all the clubs in this league and we have sold £600K worth of players in Taylor and Bodin ?

I think our present owners could well turn out to be the worst thing that has ever happened to this club. It's only the fact that we have got a brilliant manager that is allowing us to tread water, and I cant see him staying here for the long term. Imagine where we would be if we had the likes of Paul Buckle running things.

If I was DC you wouldn't see my arse for dust,he is a young ambitious manager who wants to get to the top so he is at completely the wrong club.

Why are so many of you prepared to accept mid table, I think a fair proportion of our fans have been brainwashed into accepting mediocrity, we have got at least a championship quality fanbase and manager and with a little bit of ambition we can still make the play offs this season. We haven't even spent the money we got for Bodin what the hell are our owners playing at ?

You are correct he is not valued or wanted by them, I cant for the life of me work out the reason they bought him in the first place.

The three decent fees you have mentioned were off set by the money we received for selling our two best players, I doubt very much if the owners have spent very much of their own money at all on the squad. The lies about plan B are a big worry as it reflects on their integrity. But the biggest worry is the deafening silence from our chairman and boardroom, especially after DC'S thinly veiled criticism at the weekend where any board worth it's salt would have responded.

As predicted it looks very much like we will be making do with loan signings, a road DC did not want to go down,it's a great shame that we have got one of the best managers we have ever had (if not the best) and he is being given no financial backing. I never thought I would say it but I think I would prefer the days of Higgs and Dunford who did their best with limited resources as opposed to our present owners who do nothing with vast resources.
