If Blissett could control and hold the ball up better I'd have no hesitation in starting him. Yes. And if I looked like Brad Pitt and was hung like Errol Flynn, I`d have a chance of giving Scarlett Johansson one. Blissett is pitiful. People on here talk about his flick ons, and his first touch; well I haven`t noticed them. And for a player of his size, even part time defenders take the ball off of him, as easily as an adult takes a dummy from a baby. My heart sinks at the thought of him facing FG for 90 minutes. Part of me would have prefered us to have drawn 1-1 on Wed night, and to have had Harrison and Taylor available for Sunday.

I find it incredible that people are booking coaches and hotels for a game that could quite easily not happen. Northampton anyone? Or even Mansfield last season? You would think that we'd learn to not jump the gun. Obviously not. I just hope that the players aren`t thinking along the same lines as some of the above posters. FG showed on Wed, that with the run of the ball they could still win this tie.

but the inability to send a player off for an off the ball kick just about summed it up. How is it possible for someone to be genuinely that terrible? Exactly. If you give anything at all in that situation it has to be red. For the final 20 minutes you simply never knew what he was going to give FGR the next free kick for. Hard to believe that he is the best official they could find for a game that's so important to both teams. Agreed, the last twenty minutes was the most baffling refereeing display I`ve seen in my life. To be fair though, I thought he gave us just as many undeserved free kicks as them. He just seemed to lose control of what he was doing, blow his whistle, and point in one direction or the other, regardless of what was going on in front of him. Utterly bizarre. I`m glad I was there to witness it.

I first noticed that he was losing his composure when Monkhouse was fouled a while ago, he got involved in some ''afters'' and he seemed to go on from there. Easy to say I know, but perhaps he should have been taken off for his own good before the situation got as bad as it did. that's what the bloke I was watching the telly with said That`s what we were saying, five minutes before the second yellow. You could see it coming. Good player, but too hot headed. There was no need for either yellow. Still, at least he can`t be sent off on Sunday, and miss Wembley, ( should we get there ).

My concern is that in the Alfreton game even though we scored 7, they exposed our midfield on several occasions where a better team would certainly have made more of it. I'd take a draw but I think we should go out for the win. They did? Really? It must have been an illusion when I saw Parks run, un opposed, through the midfield, set up the pass and cross and then score, unopposed from the cross.
No, if we play like that with Chris Lines playing as he did, I am confident against any team in this league from what I have witnessed. Over to you DC...please don't go back and do a "Dover" Please!!!
Seconded. If we don`t go up this season, that Dover game is going to haunt me for a long long time.

Crikey, this isn`t like you, Mr 1973. You usually feel that we`re only a couple of signings away from being a Champions League side. Perhaps you need some of Katy`s anti-depressants. I don`t think we bottled it. The crucial two points, that would have taken us up, were thrown away at Dover simply due to the manager`s half witted game plan. Nothing to do with lack of bottle from the players. It was a lack of proper direction from the manager. Will Clarke come up with a competent system for getting us past FG, or will it be another dog`s dinner of a formation, with the comically useless Blissett up front? I wouldn`t like to guess. Like the rest of us, I can but hope. To me, Eastleigh at 4/1 to go up, look the best bet. i think blaming it all on dc just suits your poor opinion of him,,,as i said we had 3 clear chances to put ourselves into a commanding position,,,some players just didnt perform in those key games,,,what im saying is they bottled the biggest games,,now im very much hoping they dont bottle the next 2 or 3 big games Eastleigh pissed all over us. It happens. Macclesfield deserved a draw against us. It was a fair result. Dover was different, in that the manager didn`t give us a proper chance of claiming the points that would have taken us up. I don`t know what to make of Clarke. He drops players out of the squad altogether, and when you`ve just about forgotten about that player, he suddenly reappears in the starting line up. Gosling was a case in point on Saturday. But he`s done it with others, such as Blissett and Ollie Clarke. Ultimately, I don`t think that Clarke had it in him to keep us up, and i don`t think he has it in him to take us up. But you`ve no idea how much I want him to prove me wrong.

lets face it we bottled it and missed out on winning the league which barnet handed us on a plate. eastleigh at home,we allowed eastleigh to push us around and hem us into our own half for far to much of the game,,,,, macclesfield away,,despite being a much better team than them and even allowing for a strong wind we failed to dominate and beat opposition that were already on the slide. dover we allowed them to score a late goal and snatch a draw which virtually sealed our play-off participation. for me those 3 games each gave us a chance to put the league into our own hands and we failed each time. despite a very good season by manager and players i really do fear that we will bottle the play-offs just like we did in run in for the title.Crikey, this isn`t like you, Mr 1973. Not sure what City fans have to gloat about yet. When we win the olay offs we wont still be non keague will we Anyway played well yesterday, but not brilliant and i only say that has Alfreton were really poor. However are finishing was better than all season. Gosling was MOTM for me Well done boys. See you in the car park Danny Coles. Lol Alfreton were so poor that I actually felt sorry for them. And we dropped two points at theirs.
Even after winning 7-0 I left the Mem feeling flat, that performance at Dover still hanging over me like a dark cloud. Hopefully victory at Wembley will banish that memory forever. Gosling MOM? Blimey, nice goal, but other than that?
Chris Lines all day long, completely dominated the midfield. Lets go up and re-sign him, along with a bit of pace in front of him.
Agree with all of that, apart from Gosling. I thought he had his best game for us, yesterday. Was up and down the line, and using the ball intelligently. And his corners looked pretty effective too. Would be unlucky if he`s not in the side on Wed.

Well Im very much hoping and praying that this will be my last match report of the season today which will mean we are Champions and that Season Ticket I bought yesterday will be a League 2 ticket!! Sadly hopes and prayers are all we are left with for this game. I would love to be optimistic but really can't find it in me. To win this game - which I think we will do - and then think of what might have been if we hadn't been so generous last week is really a downer for me. Almost a game I don't want us to win so that I can console myself that it wasn't going to happen automatically anyway. I know what you mean. But even if we had won last Saturday, I expect we`d have found a way to f**k up today. Still, as someone else pointed out, Wycombe must have thought they were down and out last season. Perhaps things will even themselves up today. Whatever happens, ( playoffs or not ) I just hope Clarke gives us the best possible chance of a return to the Football League, by picking players in their natural positions. Another 90 minutes of watching Matty Taylor stuck uselessly out on the wing, as he was against Dover, would be too much to bear.

Just cannot see how it could work us playing the same day as City, both of us with sell out crowds, we've never played the same day before. It's a disgrace how the police and football authorities would let a bus tour take priority over a play-off match. The conference have been saying for the last week or so that our game was on the Bank Holiday monday, i'm away on a stag weekend until Monday morning, will be well and truly shafted if it's changed yet again.
Had he utilised his loan players properly, not played negative football and not played players out of position on Saturday we'd be going into Saturday odds on favourites to win the league.
Absolutely. Hopefully it will all still work out, but if it doesn`t, Clarke`s half witted tactics against a Dover team who clearly had their minds on the bars of Faliraki, could well have cost us automatic promotion. It wasn`t a great drive home from the game. Every few seconds, a deep sigh.

wilf.tv is a bit like milf.tv, but I think the 'people' on there once 'batted for the other side'.........or so I heard from a friend. It can get a bit complicated. Once batted for the other side? You mean like Steve Waugh? It certainly does sound complicated.

RE: The Postmen and electricians cliche. Can we stop this now? These are decent jobs that can pay well. At the lower end of the league system going professional may not be the best choice financially or in terms of career trajectory. Many part timers are quality players who value their own careers outside football, and the money they can make there. The disadvantage may only be in terms of fitness. Many full time players at this level are gambling on reaching a higher level. They may be wrong. An electrician is just a job someone has - it doesn't hinder their skills. P.S If you have to keep churning this out mix it up a bit - nurses, sales reps, security consultants. Use your imagination. Well, I tell you this. If I employed an electrician who did a job as poorly as Blissett does his, I`d be very very wary of touching the light switch.

so basically its blame the manager because the team dosnt play in a style you prefer? Basically, it`s nothing of the sort. It`s blame the manager, because his tactics against Dover have cost us the chance to go into the final game of the season, with automatic promotion in our own hands. I had hoped that the tactics I witnessed on Saturday, ( pick your best 11, and then shoehorn them into the side, regardless of balance ) had disappeared with John Ward. Dover were absolutely there for the taking; make no mistake about it. Barnet gave us one final chance, and we spurned it. I don`t believe they`ll slip up again. And as for us? I shudder to think what formation Clarke will come up with for our play off games, ( probably against F G ). PS, Mr 1973, Don`t come on here all angry, just because Katie won`t speak to you on the PH grid.

What makes you think that Bamber supports a Championship club? His first point is factually correct and his second point is his opinion which he is entitled to. Clarke has had all the financial support he wanted; Chris Lines, Blissit and Easter demonstrate that. It's not as if he's being asked to get results against teams of postmen and electricians and to do it with a squad full of kids and zero budget. Sums it up nicely.

I agree with Bamber, ( apart from the bit about him being intelligent ). Clarke is a loser. He did what was necessary to get us relegated last season, and he`ll do what is necessary to keep us down this season. His tactics yesterday, cost us the three points. First half, we played 4 3 3, but it might as well have been 4 0 6; our midfield scarcely touched the ball. The ball simply whooshed over their heads, at roughly the same height as the international space station. It was a complete waste of 45 minutes. Second half was a bit better, but to my way of thinking, we still looked a disjointed mess. Both teams were very poor, and when we scored I was more surprised than anything. We then had Balanta on, and Matty Taylor, ( who could have got us a crucial second goal ) was stuck out on the right wing. It was tactics worthy of John Ward at his worst. In the end, we didn`t deserve more than a draw. If anybody thinks that Clarke is capable of getting us out of this division, they only have to look at Nathan Blisset. Part time defenders take the ball off him, as easily as an adult takes a dummy off a baby. An appalling buy. And yet Clarke persists with him. Realistically, it looks like we`re going to be up against F G in the playoffs. I hope I`m wrong, but I can`t see us getting the better of them over two legs. We threw away a great chance yesterday. BTW "If anybody thinks that Clarke is capable of getting us out of this division, they only have to look at Nathan Blisset" This makes no sense!! Ok, I`ll try to spell it out. Clarke paid money for a player who is clumsy on the ground, ineffective in the air, unable to control the ball, incapable of shielding it from the opposition, and who looks about as likely to score a goal as I am to be appointed Poet Laureate. Even against part time defenders, he looks pitiful. And yet Clarke persists with him. It weakens the team immeasurably. It reduces our chances of scoring goals, and therefore of winning games, and therefore of going up. If Clarke wants to give us the best chance of promotion, Blissett should be dropped. And forgotten.
