Great to see Geoff so relaxed and happy talking about the club he loves. To the best of my knowledge no one has ever said "if Rovers lose their sense of humour they will lose their identity" but they should have done I think over the last six years we have lost our identity because the club was never about "bigness" bullying and bluster it was always about good humour, stoicism, a sense of fair play and being a valued part of the Bristol community. But what is the motivation behind Geoff's comment about needing more up and coming men of the calibre of Ed Ware and Chris Jelf ? Ed is 54 and Chris is 55 whereas Nick Higgs himself is only 56 so where does Geoff rate Nick in the "calibre" stakes and why isn't he considered as up and coming ? If Ed and Chris are the up and coming men why aren't they attending matches at the moment ? Shurely shomeone will shpill the beans on this one ? I know Geoff has upset a lot of Rovers fans over the years and my guess is that he is aware of his shortcomings and regrets some of the things he has said and done. But there must be a way back, a way to repair the damage and a way that differences can be reconciled for the good of the club. Because, for me at least, this interview shows that Geoff Dunford embodies the true spirit of Bristol Rovers.

Now yet again undermining Higgs with these comments.

Now yet again undermining Higgs with these comments. We usually see eye to eye KP and I accept your comment is based on recent personal experience with Geoff which I don't have. Do you think Geoff is promoting Ed Ware and Chris Jelf as up and coming men, the future of the club if you like, purely to get at Nick Higgs ? Or do Ed and Chris really have a different agenda to that of Nick Higgs and is Geoff showing his support for them ? Many fans will say shhhhhhh don't talk about these things but what is the harm in it ?

Met the bloke once, whilst attending a match vs Newcastle, in the 'corporate lounge' at Twerton (If you can call it that !). Horrible man, looked down his nose at most people in there that day, totally up himself and he should never be forgiven for his involvement in the running of our club over the last few years.
Unlike his father, who was a true gent......

Thought he came over very humble and honest. Everyone makes mistakes and I'm sure he will hold regrets and cringe at some of his decisions from the past but that applies to all of us and we should always be allowed to move forward from them

Shame that his manipulations saved the club, shame him and his family put money into the club to save it, they should have let it die then maybe YOU would be happy. I find your comments offensive and bang out of order. You should hang your head in shame. So Mr Polak just what have YOU done to help BRFC? Nothing, nothing but moan moan moan. The man did what he thought was best for the club at the time he did it, at least respect THAT!!!!!!!!

Aldershot gas. Please tell what GD has done wrong at the club over 'the last few years'. Don't know? Then I'll tell you.
He has not been active at the club over the last three years. In fact his only involvement has been to help fund the club. Now, exactly what is wrong with that, should he have let us die?
NH has total control, and the others just help to fund the club. Even the invisible man Rodney King just helps to fund it, but does not have an active part to play. Remember who has been given individual responsibilities. GD and RK were not among them.

Unlike his father, who was a true gent...... I met Geoff on several occasions and he has always been polite, friendly, very open and interested in my thoughts on Rovers. More so than some other directors I have met and so loved on this forum. Although they have been good as well Geoff stood out to me. I know he and his family has been abused and threatened by some of our so called fans and I for one don't blame him moving on and away from the daily hassle of Bristol Rovers where he has received very little thanks.

Let's judge everyone on what they did in the 80s then.
Osama Bin Laden was a hero, he beat the Soviets. Never mind what happened later, do something in 1985 and it doesn't matter what happens later. If you save a boat from sinking and then let it rot, what was the point?
We've the most blinkered fan base in football, we really have. I wish Geoff no ill, its only football, but if he's getting off scott free while you all pile into Higgs, he'll be laughing (I know he reads this forum, morning Geoff). Who brought Higgs in again? His remark about the other board members isn't even veiled.
The back biting inside the boardroom, the arrogance (the scarves thing when B and G was running, banging on about signing Lambert when we'd just gone down) are actions that his predecessor wouldn't have done.
The story of Geoff being at fault for nothing is f**king hilarious and shows the supporters of this club for what they are.

I can see the Hidden agenda rising its head again.... Your hidden agenda to defend the board that took us out of League football at all costs? It's not hidden mate it's bloody obvious.

oh the Hidden agenda was there long before we went down - it started about 5 minutes after a certain person was asked to leave the ground

He's a man that just doesn't want to take the blame for anything. He spent the whole interview harking back to 28 years ago when he and his father did get the club out of a mess. He cannot seem to look back to the last five years though to when he played his part in probably the biggest cluster f**k ever seen at this club. It was an interview of self promotion, trying to look like a normal fan, trying to come off well and with the Ware and Jelf quote twisting the knife he'd already put in Higgs' back.
I was hoping we'd heard the last from him but his use of Twitter and this is proving the sly old dog still loves making kisses face for attention.

Have to say i am totally with you Henbury Gas . Lots on here with vicious personal agendas, some not even bothering to attend who like you say; do what for the club? Its very easy to criticise and abuse. Perhaps we should have a red card for the vicious agendas but then you could probably shut this forum down!!!
