Have to say i am totally with you Henbury Gas . Lots on here with vicious personal agendas, some not even bothering to attend who like you say; do what for the club? Its very easy to criticise and abuse. Perhaps we should have a red card for the vicious agendas but then you could probably shut this forum down!!! You've changed my mind, you're completely correct. Maybe we should continue down that well trodden route of banning people for criticising the board. Would you have Geoff at the top of your Stalinist regime? Have you considered where you could put potential gulags to hold the banned? Maybe the UWE site? When the purge is over USSRovers will rise to the top of the league as reported on Pravda.

Seems to me that you have a banned list of one so could be kept in the Portoloo or Santas Grotto...or is that the same place?

Without specifically mentioning "the banned one", because he's over it, I'm confused at the talk of "agendas" to the extent that I'm sure it's a wind-up because I don't believe that anyone, even on here, could be so moronic and stupid.
I've never met any of the board, they've never spoken to me personally - how can I have a vicious personal agenda?
I am a critic of their handling of the clubs finances, continued failure to engage with its supporters, continued hiring of managers who fail, the total failure of various stadium projects and the lies told to fans about them, the 2 relegations, the fact that we're not even in the Football League, the fact that supporters gave the club over £1m and have nothing to show for it, and the fact that they take blame for nothing and drag the club's name through the mud.
At any other club there'd be demands for action. But oh no, we're funny old Bristol Rovers, when we become the local laughing stock, as close in league terms to Weston as we are to our old rivals, millions in debt, what do we do? Shout down anyone who dares speak I'll of those responsible as disloyal.
Like I said, you'd have to be one of the stupidest people in Bristol to think that the only reason that Geoff and friends are disliked is an "agenda" about one bloke being banned.

oh the Hidden agenda was there long before we went down - it started about 5 minutes after a certain person was asked to leave the ground Oh, i think you mean kevin spencer. If so, don't be so coy, say it like that other bloke who was calling out kp on here, while trying to deny it. I finally realised he meant kingswood polak it seems basic manners to me to be straightforward rather than insinuate

Sadly we only have a local group of business men who have to club at heart who do things at the time they think is good for the club If that is not good enough then i feel sorry for you because its people like that who end up as armchair supporters of Man U who never would go watch them live because its expensive...

I found him to be polite, direct and interested during the two business meetings I have had with him (in contrast to Mr Higgs and Mr Bradshaw). I also found that gentle meander down memory lane in the interview interesting, if a little sycophantic.
Mr Dunford is clearly a complex character who managed to revel in the ragbag rovers image and made personal sacrifices of money and time to help stop the club from disappearing.
Unfortunately his one dimensional ability has, in my opinion, led him to deliberately keep the club to the image he feels comfortable with, because to grow the club he would need to have relinquished control to others, a step he has been unable to take until now.
He has saved us and he has nearly destroyed us again. I am thankful to him for the former, and grateful if he can now admit he is yesterday's man.

Ah, the old "you expect too much" line. As old as the "plastic fan" line. If I didn't care about the club, why would I waste my time arguing with people about it? I don't expect Champions League, Premier League or anything like that. No-one does. What I want is a plan. Look at Yeovil. s**t ground, no fans, no big benefactor, just like us. The sheer amount of times this club has f**ked something up, you'd think they'd have changed by now. I don't think they enjoy losing games and losing money but they don't seem to change. This "review" that didn't happen in the summer should have happened after we got relegated from League 1. On May 3rd at 5pm, did you shrug.your shoulders and say "oh well, ho him, everyone tried their best"? Or were you angry? Their best isn't good enough, not saying they haven't tried, or that they don't care, but they've failed, and they can't seem to accept that they're at fault at all.

Haven't ever met Dunford, never will meet Dunford.
But if I choose to be royally f***ed off, that he and his band of boardroom chums dragged this club to the lowest point in it's history, a mere 5 years after being 3rd in league one....
It means I have an AGENDA against him?!
Not entirely sure you could make this up.

Met the bloke once, whilst attending a match vs Newcastle, in the 'corporate lounge' at Twerton (If you can call it that !). Horrible man, looked down his nose at most people in there that day, totally up himself and he should never be forgiven for his involvement in the running of our club over the last few years. Unlike his father, who was a true gent...... Met him once in McDonalds in Bath, he was with his boys, but was happy to have a chat about Rovers. I found him to be very courteous and not at all "up himself". Maybe, like a lot of us, the opinion you form will depend on whether you caught him on a bad day? Thanks for posting the link robblue - much appreciated as I'm not able to get the channel in my area.

Great to see Geoff so relaxed and happy talking about the club he loves. To the best of my knowledge no one has ever said "if Rovers lose their sense of humour they will lose their identity" but they should have done I think over the last six years we have lost our identity because the club was never about "bigness" bullying and bluster it was always about good humour, stoicism, a sense of fair play and being a valued part of the Bristol community. But what is the motivation behind Geoff's comment about needing more up and coming men of the calibre of Ed Ware and Chris Jelf ? Ed is 54 and Chris is 55 whereas Nick Higgs himself is only 56 so where does Geoff rate Nick in the "calibre" stakes and why isn't he considered as up and coming ? If Ed and Chris are the up and coming men why aren't they attending matches at the moment ? Shurely shomeone will shpill the beans on this one ? I know Geoff has upset a lot of Rovers fans over the years and my guess is that he is aware of his shortcomings and regrets some of the things he has said and done. But there must be a way back, a way to repair the damage and a way that differences can be reconciled for the good of the club. Because, for me at least, this interview shows that Geoff Dunford embodies the true spirit of Bristol Rovers. He's a manipulative twat who is a master of using media to his own ends. Now yet again undermining Higgs with these comments. And there is the voice of reason! Boring
