Cardiff City have sacked manager Steve Morison with the Bluebirds 18th in the Championship after 10 games.

The former Wales international took charge of the first team after Cardiff sacked Mick McCarthy in October 2021.

Morison brought in 17 new players during the summer, but Cardiff have won just three league matches, losing 1-0 to Huddersfield most recently.

Mark Hudson will take interim charge of the first team assisted by Tom Ramasut while the club consider their options.

"We'd like to thank Steve for his efforts during his time at Cardiff City, stabilising the first team last season and helping to evolve our squad in line with the club's philosophy this summer," said a club statement.

"We wish him the best for the future."

Having steered the Bluebirds away from a relegation battle last season Morison was handed a new contract until the end of this season.

After being among the league's most active clubs in the transfer market, the season got off to the perfect start with a 1-0 win against promotion favourites Norwich.

However, Cardiff have won just two games since - a 1-0 win at home to Birmingham and a 3-2 win away at Middlesbrough.

Saturday's defeat away at Huddersfield was the fifth time in 10 league games that the Bluebirds failed to score in.

That loss saw the club drop to 18th, just one point outside the relegation places.

Championship club Watford have named Slaven Bilic as their new boss on an 18-month deal after sacking Rob Edwards just 11 games into his tenure.

Edwards, 39, was appointed in May after leading Forest Green Rovers to promotion from League Two.

He succeeded former England boss Roy Hodgson and became the Hornets' eighth permanent manager since 2018.

Former West Ham and West Brom boss Bilic had been out of management since leaving Chinese club Beijing Guoan.

His contract was cancelled by mutual consent in January, after a year in charge, because he wanted to return to his family in Europe.

Owner Gino Pozzo said: "As with all decisions taken by the board, I believe this change to be in the best interests of the club.

"We felt Rob had enough time to show us the identity of his team, however performances haven't reflected our hopes and ambitions.

"Now we must move forward, and, in Slaven Bilic, we have secured the services of an experienced coach who has recent experience of promotion to the Premier League."

Edwards move angered Forest Green.

When Edwards was appointed, it triggered a furious response from Forest Green, whose chairman Dale Vince accused Watford of going behind his back to complete negotiations.

At the time, the sense was of Watford taking a different approach to hiring and firing of managers.

Chief executive Scott Duxbury told the Watford Observer: "We will be supporting Rob Edwards come hell or high water."

But he has quickly gone the same way as so many of his predecessors at Vicarage Road, his final game was a 2-2 home draw with Sunderland on 17 September.

In a brief statement, the club said: "Watford FC has relieved Rob Edwards of his duties as head coach.

"The board wishes to place on record its thanks to Rob for all of his work since his appointment and wish him and his assistant Richie Kyle - who will also leave the club - all the very best for their future careers in coaching and management."

Watford won three of their 10 league matches under Edwards, with five draws and two defeats, and were knocked out of the Carabao Cup by League One side MK Dons.

Bruno Lage: Wolves sack manager after defeat by West Ham.

Wolves have sacked manager Bruno Lage after 16 months in charge following Saturday's defeat by West Ham United left them in the bottom three.

Lage succeeded Nuno Espirito Santo last summer and led Wolves to a 10th-placed finish in his first season in charge.

However, they have won one and lost nine of their past 15 Premier League matches under the Portuguese.

Wolves chairman Jeff Shi said that poor form meant he had "no choice" but take the "difficult decision" to sack Lage.

"Bruno is an excellent coach, a hardworking and dedicated manager, and a warm, wise and honest man," said Shi.

"He and his staff have been a pleasure to work with throughout their time at Wolves, so it is with much sadness that we have had to make what has been a difficult decision.

"I honestly have no doubts about Bruno's ability and I'm sure he will succeed elsewhere, however the team's form and performances over the last few months mean that we have no choice but to act."

Crawley Town have sacked manager Kevin Betsy after four months in charge, with the club bottom of League Two.

The former Arsenal Under-23s boss won only one of his 12 league games in charge, and his assistant Dan Micciche has also left the club.

Betsy, 44, was appointed in June after John Yems left following racism and discriminatory conduct allegations.

The highpoint of his spell in charge was a 2-0 win over former club Fulham in the Carabao Cup.

The departure of Betsy and Micciche was announced in a brief statement by the club, who confirmed that Yems' former assistant Lewis Young will take interim charge of the team.
