After 4 games and a pointless start to the season ,Rochdale FC have sacked manager Robbie Stockdale, having joined them following relegation to L2 the previous season, I went to Rochdale last season. Proper community based football Club struggling with the 2 Manchester giants just down the tramline. Oldham were relegated to non-league last season and things don't look good for Dale. I hope they stay up...

Yes, it’s the first but won’t be the last. Rochdale have always appeared to punch above their weight ever since the 60s and their years in League 1 have always been fairly successful despite their size. But I think they’ve had a few boardroom issues leading to financial problems made worse by the epidemic. I hope they survive this season, I think the clubs north of Manchester, Oldham, Bury, Bolton and now Rochdale have had their fair share of problems. Rochdale have been the smallest of the 4 but appeared to be the most stable and well-run. Perhaps this is the season their size catches them out. I hope not.

Michael O'Neill: Stoke City sack manager after poor start to the season.
Stoke City have sacked manager Michael O'Neill after a poor start to the Championship season, having won just once in five games.
The 53-year-old was appointed by the Potters in November 2019, replacing Nathan Jones.
The former Northern Ireland boss is the first manager to be sacked in the Championship this campaign.
Assistant manager Dean Holden will take charge on an interim basis with Stoke visiting Blackburn on Saturday.
In a statement, chairman John Coates added: "Michael joined us in November 2019 when the club was in a difficult situation and the job he did in stabilising our position in the Championship should not be underestimated.

Bournemouth have sacked boss Scott Parker after Saturday's 9-0 defeat by Liverpool, four games into the season. After the loss, Parker, 41, said he was "not surprised" and said the team was "ill-equipped at this level". "In order for us to keep progressing as a team and a club as a whole, it is unconditional that we are aligned in our strategy to run the club sustainably," said owner Maxim Demin. "We must also show belief in and respect for one another." Demin added: "That is the approach that has brought this club so much success in recent history, and one that we will not veer from now. Our search for a new head coach will begin immediately." The Liverpool thrashing was Bournemouth's third straight league defeat, having won their opening match. Gary O'Neil will take interim charge of the team and will be assisted by Shaun Cooper and Tommy Elphick. ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/135AF/production/_126497297_hi078324571.jpgJack Ross has also been sacked as Dundee Utd head coach after just seven gamesJack Ross has been sacked as Dundee United head coach following Sunday's 9-0 hammering by Celtic - just his seventh game in charge. The record home defeat for United was the club's fifth successive loss, a run that includes a 7-0 Europa Conference qualifying defeat away to AZ Alkmaar. Ross departs after only 10 weeks in the job with United two points adrift at the bottom of the Scottish Premiership. United confirmed he has been "relieved of his duties with immediate effect". i2-prod.edinburghlive.co.uk/incoming/article24886250.ece/ALTERNATES/s810/0_JS275895936.jpg

FWIW re AFC Bournemouth.
I am surprised and I bet that most of the press will be critical of the AFCB board but to those who are real fans I’m not sure they will be too unhappy. Since Christmas, or even earlier, the style of play was fairly mundane. They scraped draws when they weren’t the better team and teams that I saw at Dean Court had worked out how to play AFCB and come away with a point or more. Parker kept saying they need to be patient which I can sort of understand but he was set in his ways tactically and rarely changed tactics or formation and kept doing the same thing and then wondered why it wasn’t always working. Whereas you always knew that if they were behind or struggling at half time Eddie H would have changed things and made tactical or player changes. Parker rarely did, just carried on doing what he did.
In the days ahead it will be portrayed as a panic/ knee jerk reaction but I think it’s more of a “let’s give ourselves a chance” and make the change now. I’m not sure it will work, and as it stands, I’ll be surprised if they avoid going down. But with Parker gone I think they have a better chance to stay up which makes me sound pretty heartless given the decent job he did. Of course it will depend upon who they bring in. I was talking to my youngest this morning about it and I said I hope they have someone lined up and he just said it didn’t matter if they didn’t Parker had to go after criticising everyone else about the results. He then said if that had been Eddie H he would have taken responsibility, kept all criticism in-house and tried to sort it out.
And I’m afraid that is the real dilemma for any manager of AFCB...they will not be Eddie Howe. He was a god and he remains a god to all AFCB fans (or al least 90%) and any in-coming manager had better realise that. Whilst they won’t be EH they had better realise that they survived 5 years in the PL by building a strong unit with decent players who all got better under EH and who would never criticise or moan about AFCB basically being what they are, a small club with a small budget in the world’s biggest league. Players loved EH and would do anything for him, he would have called them out as all those who watched knew, but he would never do it on MOTD or publicly and would never infer that they weren’t good enough as Parker did and does. Max Denim is a good guy but he’s never going to spend his way to safety and when the manager turns round and criticises him and the board I don’t think many fans will side with the manager, they will agree with Denim, imo. Parker may have been honest but he knew full well the situation AFCB worked within.
I’m sure the new manager will try to sort it out and I can’t imagine they haven’t got anyone ready given there are 3 days left of the window and they really do need some replacements. I’m going tomorrow night v Wolves which should be interesting at least, my first match since they beat Villa. ( I was at Pompey when they played Arsenal) Come on Bournemouth!! 😉 Tin hat on.

Scunthorpe United have sacked manager Keith Hill with the club second from bottom of the National League. The Iron were relegated from League Two last season after 72 years in the English Football League. They won their first game of the season but have lost their subsequent five, with Hill's last game in charge being Monday's 2-0 home defeat by Halifax. The club said a statement regarding an interim management team would be made "in due course". In total the Iron won just three, and lost 27, of Hill's 39 matches in charge. The former Rochdale and Barnsley boss replaced Neil Cox at Glanford Park in November 2021 but could do nothing to halt their slide out of the Football League. They ended the campaign with a humbling 7-0 defeat by Bristol Rovers, after which Hill acknowledged that the "dynamics of the club have been terrible". He told BBC Radio Humberside at the time: "The club need to show bravery. They can throw me under the bus if they want, like most clubs do - I got thrown under the bus [at Tranmere] last season and I got thrown under the bus at Bolton. You clean a club up and then you get thrown out. "But it needs cleansing. It needs somebody like me to make sure there's a successful future." Scunthorpe host sixth-placed Boreham Wood on Saturday. ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/87BE/production/_126505743_shutterstock_editorial_13068969ff.jpg

JFHasslebank is considering his future at winless Burton Albion, following their latest defeat he will "seriously" look at wether he is the right person for the club at the moment Latest:Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink: Burton Albion boss resigns with side bottom of League One.
The Dutchman, 50, leaves just two weeks after saying he would quit if he saw himself as "the problem" at Burton. The final game of Hasselbaink's second spell in charge of the club was Saturday's defeat by Oxford, which leaves them with just one point from their first seven games this season. Assistant manager Dino Maamria will take over as Burton's interim boss. Hasselbaink led Burton to promotion as League Two champions in 2015 during his first stint as manager at the Pirelli Stadium. He returned in January 2021 when Albion were bottom of League One and guided them to a 16th-place finish. The Brewers finished in the same position last term in his first full season back at the helm. The first five weeks of the 2022-23 season, which proved to be the final ones of Hasselbaink's tenure, have been the most difficult of the Dutchman's association with the club. They have conceded 24 goals in nine games in all competitions and failed to score in five of them. ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/91D1/production/_126592373_shutterstock_editorial_13071753dd.jpgIt's not a sacking but surely it was long due...

Thomas Tuchel: Chelsea sack manager following Champions League defeat.Chelsea have sacked manager Thomas Tuchel following Tuesday's night's Champions League defeat by Dinamo Zagreb. The 49-year-old former Borussia Dortmund and Paris St-Germain boss leaves Stamford Bridge after 20 months. Owner Todd Boehly has placed Tuchel's coaching staff in temporary charge until a replacement is found. A club statement said the owners believe it is "the right time" to bring in a new head coach. "As the new ownership group reaches 100 days since taking over the Club, and as it continues its hard work to take the club forward, the new owners believe it is the right time to make this transition," the statement read. "On behalf of everyone at Chelsea FC, the club would like to place on record its gratitude to Thomas and his staff for all their efforts during their time with the club. Thomas will rightly have a place in Chelsea's history after winning the Champions League, the Super Cup and Club World Cup in his time here." Tuchel was appointed on 26 January, 2021, replacing Frank Lampard, and guided the club to their second Champions League title just four months later. He went on to add the Uefa Super Cup and Fifa Club World Cup later that year. ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/11739/production/_126618417_tuchel-main.jpgTuchel's frustrations boiled over once again as he was booked by the referee in Croatia for complaining about time-wasting by the opponent. Graham Potter: Chelsea set to hold talks with Brighton manager about replacing sacked Thomas Tuchel.Chelsea are set to hold talks with Brighton boss Graham Potter about replacing the sacked Thomas Tuchel. Tuchel, who won three trophies in 20 months at Stamford Bridge, was sacked by the Blues on Wednesday. Ex-Swansea and Ostersunds FK coach Potter, 47, has been given permission by the Seagulls to talk with Chelsea. Potter, who has been tipped as a future England boss, has led Brighton to fourth in the table this season after winning four and drawing one of their six Premier League games. He was appointed in May 2019 and has led the club to 15th, 16th and ninth-place finishes in his three seasons in charge. But his brand of attacking and tactically flexible football has brought him many admirers in the game. ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/AEDA/production/_126626744_hi078335399.jpgPotter led Brighton to a ninth-place finish in the Premier League last season, the club's highest ever top flight finish

Danny Schofield: Huddersfield Town sack head coach after nine games.ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/2AE4/production/_126708901_danny_schofield_getty2.jpgHuddersfield Town have sacked head coach Danny Schofield after one win from nine games in charge. Schofield was promoted from the coaching staff after Carlos Corberan resigned in July. The Terriers finished third in the Championship last season and were beaten in the play-off final by Nottingham Forest. However, they lost seven of Schofield's nine matches and are 23rd in the table, five points adrift of safety. "Everyone at the club would like to thank Danny for his hard work and dedication and wishes him the very best for the future," read a club statement. Coaches Narcis Pelach and Paul Harsley will lead the team in Saturday's home game against Cardiff. Schofield made 253 appearances for Town as a player before returning in a coaching capacity in February 2020.

Oldham were in the prem for a couple of seasons and since relegation in 1994 have slid steadily down to the NL for the last nearly 30 years.
