Ellis got an elbow that cut his head. He came off in the second half and needed stitches. Tom played the full 90.

Come on guys - if you wait until you are "ready" you never take any risks and rarely achieve anything in life.
Some people are born cautious and live their lives with the attitude "I better not go out today as it might rain". If it rains, lets get wet and enjoy the rain.
Failure isn't about not succeeding, its about not trying.
If we go up, we will be ready.

Perhaps DC wants to being in his own man but has never been able to whilst NH run the show? When did one of his players actually make it to being a regular first team player for a club with such an academy the number of youngsters making the step up has been poor in my view. There has been conflict on this issue. It started under McGhee as I am told. Alan has an attack minded style and my guess is that the reason we have not had such a great transition, into first team ( apart from bigger clubs cherry picking) is that many of those who were given all too brief stints, we're not played in the positions that they held while in the youth set up maybe someone can clarify this. My last real talk with Alan was at Clevedon. To be frank, I hoped he would become 1st team manager, when Ward went What I have heard is that he was criticised for being too nice. Jamie Fullarton was a bit of . The boys didnt like him but respected him and he turned the boys into men. He did this to Tom Lockyer (who named JF as one of the key influences on him last night), Alefe Santos, Matt Macey etc. The roll of the U18's manager is not to play pretty football but to turn raw potential into first team contenders. I have heard that he was too nice and the criticism is that the first year pro's have not been tough enough physically or mentally. This is why they are not breaking through in the way Harrison, Lockyer, Santos even Harding did. They may not have been good enough but they were physically and mentally strong enough to be given a chance. Under AW they havent been. I dont think he would have worked as 1st team manager KP, it takes more than being a nice guy which undoubtedly he is.

Don't know, don't care. He has enough, anything else is irrelevant.
I cringe every time I see this type of thread, please stop it.

Irishrover a brilliant exposition, really enjoyable read summed up very poignantly and I quote you :- "What is sad for me though is that a Posh guy from Jordan with an expensive and elite UK education and no prior connection to the club or the area has come in and instantly sounded like he has a better understanding of what Rovers fans want to hear and what they will respond positively to than a board of professed lifelong Rovers fans have for most of the last 15 years!" Nail hit very firmly on the head I reckon.....UTG ! I agree that this is an excellent post. I don't agree with the "instantly understand what the fans wants to hear" point though. I am sure Higgs said the right things to start with but if you don't deliver then no one cares what you have to say. Wael is in his honeymoon period, has said all the right things and we all want to believe him. If he fails to deliver then we slowly grow sceptical as we did with Higgs. Now he has to deliver - your first point about wait and see, don't rush to judge, is spot on.

When we won to avoid relegation I parked up in an unofficial car park in the same road as the ground for a fiver. Wycombe had a beer tent & food stalls and a small football court for kids outside the ground. Good view from the stand as well! One of the better away grounds (give or take the odd lightening strike!). This is exactly what I was going to say. People like to talk up the rivalry but it was a nice welcoming club to be fair. I took my kids who were 14 at the time and one of them got so excited he joined in the pitch invasion !!! It was a great day but unfortunately a false dawn.

Just read the Taylor Wessing press release which ends with..........
"The Taylor Wessing team was led by Corporate Partner Mike Turner, along with Associates Siobhán Langwade and Jemilla Olufeko. They were supported by Al Watson (Head of Planning and Environment), Nash Adjaye (Associate, Planning and Environment), Scott Harrison (Senior Counsel, Real Estate), Joanne Kelly (Partner, Construction), Paul Callaghan (Partner, Employment), Joe Aiston (Associate, Employment), Mark Smith (Partner, Pensions), Emma Aylwin (Associate, Pensions), James Walton (Senior Associate, Finance), Nikol Davies (Partner, Tax), James Stewart (Senior Associate, Tax), Eithne James (Associate, Tax), David de Ferrars (Partner, Disputes and Investigations) and Natalie Todd (Senior Associate, Disputes and Investigations)."
These guys clearly did loads and loads of homework and invested hugely in understanding all aspects of the deal especially the construction, planning and dispute investigation issues.
I think that is very, very comforting. They clearly didnt buy the club on a whim. They thought about it long and hard, invested a load of money in top-class legal advisers who asked all the right questions. The fact that all this was going on behind the scenes and none of us knew is a real surprise in hindsight. They are clearly a very professional outfit who do things the right way.
My early impressions are very positive.

Bit of a dumb question to be fair. The article (in marketing speak) was just a lead generator. It may well have generated a few leads including this one but then there were 5 months of due diligence.
So even if it generated the lead there was never any suggestion it was the main reason.
Having been involved in buying and selling companies it is entirely possible that an adviser, broker etc knew there were some rich Jordanians (or other middle eastern investors) assessing companies and suggested the article may be a way of upping the profile of the club. It was pretty obvious to me at the time that Higgs didn't just wake up one morning with the bright idea himself. It was pretty left field and clearly someone had suggested it.
Its a bit like seeing a ripple on the surface and casting your bait where the ripple is. Until you get a bite you have no idea whether it's a minnow or a whale.
Hopefully we haven't hooked a shark !!!!

Sorry Nailsea I couldnt disagree more. It is vital in my view that we get a top league manager in soon or perhaps at the end of the season. On the assumption that a considerable amount will be put into the playing side we need an experinced person at the helm. Someone who could attract much much better players than we have seen in recent years and develop them into a winning team. Being a bit blunt I suppose but I will be surprised if many of the current squad will be around in a years time. Hopefully there are very different and much better times ahead and I just cannot see Daryl being the man to clear the decks and rebuild the team. Garry Monk anybody (JOKE). I bet Bournemouth are glad they didn't take your advice. DC has the opportunity to do the same as Eddie Howe. I would be very disappointed if he wasn't given that chance but I suspect he won't be be given a second chance if he is seen to be failing.

8 8 9 8 8 8 8 8! Seriously? We've just be held to a draw by a bankrupt and fan-owned club. SteveK is talking about individual performances, you are talking about the result. Do you need someone to explain the difference? I think SteveK got it about right, we were very good but we drew - sh1t happens.

Don't disagree with anything there.
In the pre-match interview DC said that all the preparation was done with Ellis and that they only found out about Easters red card being overturned at 3pm so they stuck with the plan.
Easter will start the next one.

When we were relegated we lost all 6 points to Accy. We were mugged at home. A single point from them and we would have stayed up. Very nervous about this one, it still bugs me. It was exactly as I feared. It was horrible. We aren't streetwise enough
