And as I final thought, I guess it would be dead easy to write a blog if there was any news to write about. With a deafening silence on most fronts I think Buckrippers did well to find anything to write about so apologies if it sounds like I don't appreciate the effort. I do, just a bit concerned about too much negativity

The Op has form on writing negatively, in fact, I don't usually bother to give his articles much time. Maybe it his journalistic training to find the negative spin on everything. Last year when we were fighting relegation, and, after a negative doom and gloom piece from Mr Rippington I questioned whether he could use his blog in a more constructive way, maybe writing something to unite the fans rather than continue to hammer a wedge between us all. I was greeted with a rather defensive reply along the lines of "isn't that what our manager is paid to do" and "its my opinion maybe you should write your own". Whilst there is a point on both scores, I am not a journalist and neither would I know how to get a blog on a local/national rag. In my opinion you can either be different and actually take the lead or sink back with the majority and continue the negativity which will just rot the club to death. I am not a tinter, neither do I think all is rosy in the garden and we will walk the conference, but what i do think is, what is done is done, we cannot change the past but we can change the future and that includes the mindsets of fans as well as what the clubs board and management team do. DC is in a position where he has a lack of funds and is trying to stop the pension paydays of long in the tooth players. His way may even just unearth a few gems along the way. Blimey, you are a mind reader, that is precisely what I was thinking but couldn't be bothered to type on an iPhone. Before the Wycombe game last year I PM'd buckrippers as I thought his post was so negative it was potentially damaging and urging him to get behind the team. We shared a very sensible discussion about it. Lets not undermine DC and his team before we even kick a ball in anger . We all have concerns, none of us are happy about non-league football but please do not cut his legs off already.

It's just a negotiating tactic to pretend they aren't that bothered so we drop the price.
Stand your ground DC, worst case we keep Smudge

Crikey, am I really the only person who would crap their pants at the thought of letting Saisnburys build on the Mem whilst we "rent" somewhere else? No you`re not. Strange thread this, I would have thought any Rovers supporter would s*** themselves if this was announced. This is the worst idea in the history of bad ideas. Make ourselves homeless so that the directors clear their loan accounts and hope they still have the motivation to build a new stadium? You won't see some of them for dust.

What a great post.
This is almost a prophecy, because it is very, very likely that we will do all the things he has warned us against.
I suggest this is pinned at the top of the forum to act as a reminder when needed.

He wasn't in last week which worried me. Let's hope his injury problems are behind him.

My problem with DC and whether or not he is a good manager was the final game of the season when ALL we had to do was NOT lose the match. All he had to do was play a solid defensive formation and grind the match out for a draw, but no he chose to be adventurous and it cost us our FL place. Sure he seems a nice bloke, but how can you not have serious doubts about a manager when he does that??? :wallbang: You want the John Ward way !!!!!!! Gobsmacked. At least we went down giving it a go - we just weren't good enough with the wafer thin squad available.

My statement was of course opinion. I have past managerial experience at a level to too far off your Clevedons of this world. All I am saying is that long have we chased bigger names, Mark Mcghee and Paul Buckle to name just two. These did not work. When I reference a hard working team, of course I have not scouted these players and its merely my opinion not a fact. Likewise I would challenge those that say they will fail to prove that. The truth is none of us know, past club success or failure bares no influence on this coming season. And I for one respect your opinion. Keep them coming, far more interesting to read than the same old, bash the board, slag off the manager, your nothing but a rose tinter posts that seems to poison just about every thread. Come on Oldie, you are clearly an intelligent poster but that was not an thoughtful response to a valid opinion. After a brief flirtation with reasoned debate, this forum is slowly slipping back to where it was before the OF closed

Good news! I'll be in Jersey for a wedding that day. Can't face witnessing us losing at home to Braintree or the likes that day, while the blue-tinters tell us 'not to worry the new team just need time to gel' Thats right, a good positive post there RG2, if you feel like that why do you bother? What? The season hadn't started yet - pull yourself together man.

There's no way I am going to stay away as a protest.
As a suggestion, how about everyone staying in the car park for the first five minutes then all walking in together singing "We want our Rovers back"
Five minutes to symbolise the fact we are now in the fifth teir.
