Chris Lines has been treated like crap. I hope he's a huge success in whatever he does next. Top man. Wish the manager had his class. Having talked at length with one of the players, I think there is more to it than that. The players weren’t criticising GC over it.

Must admit in general i believe "balance sheets" do win leagues. Our task is to be a shrewsbury or a huddersfield and sneak into the frame without big bucks.
I agree with this. Cash may not win individual matches, but over the course of a season it will win promotion unless they spectacularly mess it up.

Agent told him that if he waits 5 months he will be able to pocket the fee as a signing on fee. It’s just money.

What another brilliant team performance!? This is more like the Rovers we know can play like. Worth noting we easily beat a Southend team that do have ability, yet chose to exhibit a hideous kamikaze side to their game, offering hardly anything in attacking prowess and almost completely impotent. Positives... Team.....we created triangles, movement off the ball. Supported and covered. Tracked back. Created spaces in flanks. Passes met their man. One touch football. As dominant a performance as you'll see largely because: Bodin. M o m....perservered for his goal. His control, close dribbing and space creating was classic. No co incidence we look sharper, more up tempo, options in attack and generally more balanced and dangerous when he's on form. A true gem. I'm making the most of him because he's too good for mid table third division football, and he's a joy to watch. Partington role....he plays it perfectly. Lines and Ollie couldn't play that position to any effect, it's the masterstroke we so desperately needed. He gives the defence vital time to get organised and gets forward to support attack at set pieces. Fast becoming essential, as he's versatile anywhere in defence. Sinclair. For me, my second m o m. He won everything, even with his head! How tall is he compared to his contemporaries? His heading use has to be noticed! Where are all you lot who said he can't play at this level? Hello?? Sinclair is now more disciplined in his tackling, more focussed in his approach, whilst still having the engine to feed the midfield pulse. In one move, he tracked Cox back on the counter, and then when that move broke down got forward to support Sercombe for a shot...the days of Ollie and Lines may be in jeopardy. Ellis. Nuff said. Again another candidate for m o m. Ref. Largely played well today, not a dirty match but handled everything correctly including retrospective yellow card for foul. Negatives... Nile Ranger. Horrible. Locks made him look the fool he is. His manager must take some of the blame there, he directed NR to Locks when we had a corner inn obvious attempt to exploit (his perceived) weakness. Thanks, Phil! Crowd clapping with gloves on hardly makes any noise! Man up, Gas.. And so we move onto Gills away. They lost in Devon today. Dare we dream of 3 consecutive wins? One thing worth noting: We are definitely reaping rewards from fielding a starting 11 that is largely unchanged. DC got it right today, Ollie has been off form and Gaff has been screaming to start. Logical. Makes sense. Next week might be a bit different? Who knows? But I think it imperative we keep a settled back 5, fitness permitting. I think we've found our strongest 11. Maybe slocombe is my preferred keeps, but Smith hasn't made mistakes. In dc we trust. A good win today, well deserved, well done players and management, let's spring board this into something special. UptheGas.. Excellent summary. Thank you

Do you think you really need a new thread for each of these little trailers? I do not.
I do.
No problem as long as it is Gas related.

I'm not sure 4 assists in a whole season proves he can cross to be honest. More worryingly, our three wingers, Bodin, Moore and Montano have one assist each. I'm not sure I believe those stats but if true it's no wonder we have struggled to store goals. So Moore's assists v Bury and Oldham add up to 2 but he's only had 1? Pretty sure there are some others from Moore as well. Not sure about Monty - thought he created a few for Twatty Maylor till he joined the franchise at Trashton. Exactly what I thought. That's why I questioned whether the stats were to be believed.

You can have a different view to me without getting offensive its fine if your not keen on sinclair but to make out we only win because hes not in the team ignores all the games we have won with him in the team. how did we manage to beat all those teams then? i actually think hes going in january so you can have a big celebration. I think an apology would have been appropriate with that post rather than another dig. Crater was spot on with his comment. You were out of order with yours.

That site is awesome if you are a statto.
We are 6th in the four divisions in the goals per game table (highest outside the Prem). We are SECOND behind Liverpool in the goals scored table.
What a fantastic year 2016 was.
This season, if games were stopped at half time we would be bottom the league with only 15 points.

Flattered to deceive, not enough effort, not enough fight and therefore not a DC type of player. I won't miss him. That's sums it up pretty well. DC's is 100% consistent in what he expects. In his radio interview after yesterday's game he talked about effort off the ball, closing down, doing the dirty work. That's what pleased him most. A "DC type of player" has to earn the right to be on the pitch by his effort, work rate and what he does when the opposition have the ball. Doesn't matter how good you are on the ball, first and foremost you have to earn the right to be on that pitch. That is why a group of conference players are cutting it in League 1. That is why the spirit is so good - because they would die for each other on that pitch. Boateng simply didn't earn the right to be on the pitch. Full stop. Excellent on the ball, didn't have the fight off the ball. Its a problem with academies. Too many games of "pretty football" where the result doesn't really matter. It makes finding loan players that will properly fit in a real challenge.

Interesting.
I originally chose "Mid table mediocrity" but would probably drop it to "Bottom half but safe" now.
We over-achieved early on, we are struggling now but I think we will settle to to become a lower half team in the new year.
That wouldn't be a disaster.

From local experience the biggest issue with this sort of development is how late you are able to keep the floodlights on. The cricket ground had all sorts of nonsense. Assuming it will have 3G pitches and be used by the academy they will want floodlights til at least 9pm.

surely promotion is not wanted this season? any new ground wouldnt be ready and the mem would need to be all seater resulting in a 7,000 capacity and many fans lost forever as they couldnt watch there team in the championship. thoughts anyone? Time to change your username to "Mr Grey-and-Miserable Sky" is what I think. Last year I expected mid-table but enjoyed every second of it. This year I expect mid-table but will enjoy it whatever happens. Tree us no reason at all why we can't do it again. Burton were in exactly the same position as us this time last year.

My only observation would be that I have less respect for both Chappell and Hamer than I did a week go. Both could have shown more class. Both are in positions where I would expect them to. I agree that Hamer's response was misjudged, just about the only time he's put a foot wrong so far. The supporters club are an outdated irrelevance, good for arranging away travel and flogging tat, but that's about it. You still have to join by sending a stamped addressed envelope FFS! Hamer didn't need to respond and bring himself down to JC's level. A dignified silence while this was sorted out behind closed doors would have been more becoming of the Chairman of BRFC - instead of this state of open this warfare. The supporters club aren't an irrelevance as they do a lot of good work behind the scenes for nothing. It would cost the club a fortune if they had to pay for all this. Chapell's message that these guys shouldn't be taken for granted and should be thanked is 100% valid. Had Hamer responded to this, thanked them for all their hard work and promised them a meal out then we wouldn't be in this mess. As i said, I have lost a little respect for both of them. However I am more surprised by Hamer's response - he really should be smarter than that.

The one sure way to piss off the best manager we have had for decades is to say to him, "We dont think you are good enough so we have brought someone in to help you"
Crazy, crazy, crazy idea.
He was dead unlucky in 2014, lucky to win the penalty shoot out in 2015 and this year we did the business. No luck, we were unlucky not to score a hatful on Saturday. His team coped with the pressure and finished like a steam train, others around us didnt. Thats not luck.

Yes chewby, but nearly everyone who has the pleasure of standing near me at the Mem thinks he's 20/21. I didn't realise he was over 25. I've just checked and he is more than 4 years older than Tom Lockyer. Quite shocked by that.

I think it should be changed.
If you want to run the forum for the benefit of those of us that used the old forum then leave it as it is.
If we want this forum to grow, get new members and develop as the Club develops then you need to be clear to new members why they should join. In terms of marketing the forum to new members it's misleading.
To me it's a simple choice - If you are happy to live in the past leave it as it is. If you want to embrace the future, it needs to change.

Brilliant intro Jeff, love the "I'm with the England team" story
Sold for £5k and he went on to play for England. Who made that brilliant decision?
Confidence and spirit is everything- a 2-0 victory to gas today.
