For many he was treated as utterly terrible and barely fit for the Conference - now apparently he's on his way to superstardom! Exactly this. Until a couple of weeks ago, when he had a goalscoring opportunity you could hear the groans before he even shot. He must have wasted literally a hundred decent chances last season. Now he's hit a decent run of form suddenly the people who wouldn't admit last season that he was at times a liability, are all crowing that they were right all along. The truth is that he's a good technical footballer with a poor record of converting chances, and that's why (apart from a handful of sub appearances for Oxford) his career has been outside of the League until now. If he can maintain his finishing form of the last few weeks then he'll play at a higher level, and good luck to him, I hope he does. Some fans on here WERE right all along. They could see that Taylor had the potential to be playing like he has recently; it`s absolutely no surprise to me that he`s performing the way he is. Whereas, from the opinions that they`ve expressed about Taylor in the past, an awful lot of people on here must be as surprised as when they first found out where babies come from. And if his goalscoring tails off again, I suggest that people watch him closely and take heed of the other things that he brings to the party. Things that he`s spent the last twelve months doing.

I find this team distinctly more likeable than any we've had in a while. I think that's because there are quite a number of players in it for whom this represents their best (and possibly only) shot at establishing successful careers. In other words for a lot of our players this is likely to be the high point of their careers and you can see it in their body language. In the recent past we have had too many who have had their moment and are on their way down and, even though most will be trying their best and nobody is mailing it in deliberately, the fire isn't really there anymore. It takes a certain type of person to keep up that same level of intensity after they know they have reached their peak - I think that's only human nature really. We had too many comfort zone players - I don't mean that they were lazy or that they didn't care, just that the burning, desperate desire that raises individuals to their very best had gone and that reflected in the team. Nothing wrong with a few of those guys but I think a team is much more likeable if it is made up of a core of players with something to prove to themselves. Spot on. You can see the likes of Sinclair busting a gut, to prove to themselves that they`re good enough to be playing in the football league.

Two scouts left immediately after his second goal, apparently. Either they were secret Wycombe fans or they'd seen enough. Or they might have been meeting some guides! A paedophile ring at the Mem?

Personally i dont care what division we are in. Main thing is that you are able to win lots of home games, ergo entertain/ reward/ keep your paying customers. As a kid at Eastville thats what i remember, a fortnightly away defeat was standard, and quickly forgotten by tea time. By the time triffle was served my only concern was Dr Who battling the Daleks. Did he win?

Can't ever see Easter or Harrison getting back in if Gaffer keeps playing like that I don't mind going out on a limb & saying that I don't think Easter was or ever will be right for the club or team. I don't know much about his previous career but what I see is a genuinely lazy player that is capable of some fancy tricks and it's the little tricks that sometimes look good. In my opinion and from watching him, I see a player who will not stretch himself and just lacks any real enthusiasm or bite. I would, of course, absolutely love to be proved wrong. I know I am no expert but I was never in the group who felt he was a good prospect and I certainly never believed what many said when they said he " would score for fun in this league" i feel pretty bad that he is one of only 2 players that actually are contracted after the seasons end. I would much rather Jamie Lucas get the experience under his belt. No, I really don't think Easter has the potential to do well. I believe he is getting a final payoff from football, while being close to his friends and family. I will be very happy to apologise if he proves me wrong. I don`t think he`s lazy; if you keep an eye on him during the game, he puts in plenty of runs. It`s just that they hardly ever amount to anything. And whereas Taylor can control a long ball, make space for himself and then pick out a pass, Easter can do none of those things. When the ball is played up to him, a defender takes it off of him with the minimum of effort, and we`re back under pressure. He reminds me of Joe Kuffour, once Rickie had left, in that respect. Everything else you say about him, I agree with. And I hope he proves me wrong, too.

i think we all got frustrated at times with mattys finishing but he always seems to bounce back and score goals. there are even people on here who slagged him off as useless now claiming they always saw potential in him!! you couldnt make it could you? Obviously I`ve got no idea who you are, Steve, but I agree with what you say.

It`s just a surprise to me, that you ( and many others ) couldn`t see the potential in him. A trip to Specsavers, perhaps? Everybody saw the potential. For the moment that chance/goal ratio has improved, but if it goes back to where it was last season then it would become a serious issue again as you don't get half a dozen simple chances each game at this level. He's stopped diving as well Everybody saw the potential?? At the risk of sounding like John McEnroe, " You cannot be serious." After the abuse and criticism some people on here gave him? During the Exeter game, I heard one fan telling another how lazy Taylor is. FFS. And it`s not entirely about scoring goals, Bamber. Simonj has it spot on, when he lists Taylor`s attributes. And yet there are many people on here, who have been watching him play for the last year, without being able to spot any of those attributes. It`s utterly beyond me. They won`t realise just how good Taylor was until he`s gone, and Easter is leading the line.

Matty Taylor - I suggested earlier in the season that you should not be playing for BRFC, despite your obvious talent. Now I just pray we can keep you. What a magnificent hat trick last night, it was a privilege to watch. It`s just a surprise to me, that you ( and many others ) couldn`t see the potential in him. A trip to Specsavers, perhaps?

That was a superb second half, pure brilliance from Matty Taylor. Good luck at your next club in January Matty, lets hope everyone can now enjoy watching you for your final few games with us. For the first time in my life, I agree with something you`ve written. If Taylor does go in January, ( as I suspect he will ), all the people on here who queued up to criticise him, can get used to watching Easter having a go at doing what Taylor does now. Let`s hope it makes them happy.

Brilliant. Even better that it was v Wycombe. Delighted for Taylor. Reminds me a bit of Rickie - he had his share of doubters in the early days. A re-run of all that wouldn't be bad at all. The "early days", Angas? There were plenty of people on here, up until a couple of weeks ago, giving Taylor all kinds of stick.

The proverbial game of two halves. First was poor, second was brilliant. Best I`ve seen us play all season. Only their keeper prevented it from being four or five. Three cracking saves, especially one from a header by Taylor. And speaking of Taylor, I reckon we`ll be lucky to hold on to him come January. Terrific performance.

Yes he looked like the strong centre forward that I have wanted to see in the team for a while,he had to come off as he had run out of steam but I think he could be a good signing. I didn't agree with the double substitution of the strike force,I would have replaced Gaffney with Easter and left Taylor on. I still think that Rovers need a first choice keeper,a midfielder who can spray the ball about and a winger who runs to the line and crosses, but it may be that we have all or some of these in the squad now.
The way Brown and Leadbitter were marauding down the wings today it's hard to know where a winger would fit in. Leadbitter in particularly was outstanding in his wing back role. He was. He looks like a player with serious potential. And Gaffney did look like he was the sort of forward, we`ve been crying out for. He gives us a reason to put balls into the box, other than just to watch two big centre halves, head them clear for 90 minutes. I know it`s only three quarters of one game, but fingers crossed.

There's only one player who I'd argue didn't have a good game today. Great team performance all round, and their keeper played a blinder. Shame the offside goal wasn't on the sky highlights as I wouldn't mind having seen that again. As for Easter, words fail me, it appeared to me as if he was offended by being asked to come on as a substitute. Strolled/walked around and then at one point instead of running the channel as Sinclair was bringing the ball out from defence into midfield decided for some inexplicable reason to run back into our half giving Sinclair no where to play the ball and allowing Exeter to win the ball back to start another attack. Agree absolutely. When the ball was played in his direction, during the last few minutes yesterday, he did nothing to hold it up to buy us time. Instead, another of their attacks would develop. Can`t he join Blissett at Lincoln? Please. I`ll drive him up there.

Well hats off to Tyson Fury for beating Vladimar Klitchko, now heavyweight champion of the world, holding three versions of the belt Like something out of Rocky. All that was lacking was Burgess Meredith training Fury. But fair play to him; he got his tactics spot on, showed no fear, and thoroughly deserved to win. There`s a rematch clause, but will Klitschko exercise it? He looked every one of his 39 years last night, and another six months won`t help. Wouldn`t surprise me, if he calls it a day. Fury and Wilder, now the best two heavyweights out there. A fight at Wembley would be a huge attraction.

There was never any possibility of this happening. No manager worth his salt, would have agreed to it. I suppose his management figure that the sort of money Haskins can now command, will more than compensate for the money he`s lost. It is a strange one. Caballero wouldn`t even have made it into the next weight division up, super bantamweight. He`d be better off carrying on training the same way for six months, then having a fight with Tyson Fury.Tyson Fury is a wobbling pink blancmange. If he stays on the outside against Klitschko he'll get picked off all night, if he tries to mix it up he'll get sat on his ample behind. It certainly looks that way, Bamber. I reckon Klitschko will ko Fury, third or fourth round. And yet. The Ukranian will be 40 next year, has shown signs in his last couple of fights that he`s slowing down, and has never had the most durable of chins. A good bang on the whiskers and he does a very good impression of a giant rag doll. Check out his fight against Corrie Sanders, for one. I think it`ll be interesting, if nothing else. I do think Fury will give himself a chance of winning, unlike David Haye, who took trash talking to a new level, ( remember the tee shirt with two severed heads?) and then spent 12 rounds staying as far away from Klitschko, as the confines of the ring would allow. And then blamed a broken toe. I`m looking forward to it.

The poorest centre forward I have seen in a Rovers shirt since I started watching Rovers in 1967. Hope he does well in the National League and we recoup some of the fee paid to Kidderminster. Justin Richards was worse. Much worse.

Mid 80's, travelled to Exeter by train organised by the Supporters Club. The train arrived at the halt over the road from the ground at about 1 minute to 3. Consequently, I was still outside the ground when Paul Randall scored the only goal of the game at about 1 minute past 3. We went by car that day. Consequently, we were right behind the goal when Randall scored. I can still picture it in my mind`s eye, even all these years later.
