I really like Lines as a player, he would be my first pick every week, but GC has- undeniably- turned results around. I'm not clever enough to know why, but it really does seem to be that we were a better team (results wise) without Lines. Have we got better results without Chris? Since Coughlan has been manager, Chris has started or come on as sub, in 5 league games. 2 wins, 2 draws, 1 defeat. That defeat was against Wycombe, where the entire team looked pissed. I'll admit that I haven't looked into the exact stats, what I based my comment on was that Lines was a regular under DC in a team that looked hopelessly doomed, he hasn't been playing under GC and we finished up 15th.

Yes. You'd need to collect it from Totterdown though. Have your jabs before crossing the river. I had a feeling you wouldn't be here this week, what with it being your round.

Does Accrington's result tonight put our performance into perspective? Do you mean Fleetwood?

True, but for that to happen, the authorities would have to want it to happen. Don't hold yer breath. I think they do, but Citeh have smarter legal people. Don't know about you, but it's the 2 tier justice system that we end up with that grates for me. Boston relegated 200 divisions for a technical offence, Citeh have emails surface that explain, in detail, how they intend to breach the rules and they don't care because they know they can get away with it. No different to modern life generally then. Big business does what it wants but woe betide the little man who breaks the rules. Come the revolution, Premier League football teams will be first up against the wall

It's not rocket science. The likes of Liverpool and Man City aren't where they are purely through having lots of lolly, but having more than one player who scores regularly. I know the PL is a different planet, but it's comparable to all leagues in that respect. If you don't score enough you struggle. Our team this season has been totally lacking in the final third and been stuffed full of defensive midfielders. The only creative midfielders have been left out, shipped out on loan or played out of position. Listening to GC's post-match interview, he asks for a bit of patience in the build-up to next season so I guess we'll have to wait and see if he adopts a more adventurous approach. He should stop taking a jab at what he calls "keyboard warriors" though. Some of us have been watching Rovers since before Liverpool got promoted to the top flight and have earned the right to our opinion. Man City very much are where they are purely because of money. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy watching them play, but Ian Atkins could challenge for the PL title if he was allowed to invest, what is it, £1.5 billion and counting? Take that money away and what's left? Man City are just another big City club, no different to any other, similar to Villa, Spurs, Everton. The day that someone works out how to properly enforce FFP rules the whole Citeh thing will fold in the blink of an eye.True, but for that to happen, the authorities would have to want it to happen. Don't hold yer breath.

Ed Upson somehow starts, yet Chrissy Lines isn't in the squad. Cheers Graham. Next season is going to be even more dire, isn't it?You're not going to be drinking in the Civil Service again next season are you

Barnsley will be going up expect a few in the rovers sections. but according to your [un]limited knowledge of Northerners, they will all be wearing clogs, flat caps and have whippets on leads, now we all know that dogs are not allowed into the ground[apart from guide dogs] They well may go in disguise, however they should be easy to spot, they will be the ones smiling during the game.

We all know that we are old and ugly enough to have seen similarly bad teams in the quarters. However, I have never been so bored as this season. Genuinely. I just hate it when managers make lame excuses such as "mental block" and "quality in the final third", when in truth we have no pattern of play from back to front. What is being served up is the League One equivalent of "walking football". I've definitely seen more boring Rovers sides. A few years back before we went out of the league I remember you could hear the hubbub of people chatting to each other while the game was on and it barely registering when the opposition scored. To be fair to DC he did bring back a bit of excitement and even in the earlier part of this season I wasn't so much bored as mildly depressed. When GC started getting a few results together it did pick us all up a bit, but now the need to grind out the last few points, as GC himself said 'it ain't gonna be pretty'. GC seems to have -hopefully- done the job of keeping us up, very much in the same way Ian Atkins did and I can see him being a similar kind of manager. If you were bored this season, I fear for your sanity next season!

It was indeed woeful. I said before the game that we were more than capable of losing all 3 remaining games but even if we did, I thought that we would still stay up and I still think that now.
It was the manner of yesterdays defeat that was more concerning, it's difficult not to envisage a similar struggle next season.

I think the ref lost concentration and made a very basic error. Maybe you can help me here because it isn't a common thing for play to be stopped for, should the linesman give some kind of indication in the same way as he would for offside, a foul, corner etc? I think as Vertigo said, the ref lost concentration and while I hate players surrounding refs surely ours should have been pointing it out- although I'm guessing they lost concentration as well!

I got a bit confused taking in all that OP (maths was never my strong point) but are you saying- despite the headline- that we actually WON'T be mathematically safe as Scunthorpe could theoretically catch us?

Thatchers Bar? Oh, so big screen still not installed yet? Thought they were working on it through this week after it not being ready for last Saturday. Gunna be a nice day; was hoping to bring a deckchair and watch from the South End penalty area. Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit. Perfectly acceptable on here, though! ...but the highest form of intelligence. Which I suppose means we're a clever lot on here

I have been to both of the end of season award evenings since we started holding them in town and they have indeed been incredibly professional and enjoyable but I'm not sure you could call them all that inclusive. You have to be an 1883 member to attend, which unless you are lucky enough-like me- to work for a company who is a member, would be out of most peoples budget. Hey, well done you, Rex! From o s: "Doors open at 6:00pm with dinner served at 7:30pm. Tables of 10 are priced at £650, alternatively you can purchase individual tickets at £75 per person (you will be placed on a shared table)." I agree, it's an expensive call for a one off, but.....I did say inclusive (as opposed to exclusive, (like, remember the valentine's ball by Holtby, anyone?), as in "opportunity". I suppose if you saved £1.50 every week from now to next e o s a you can pay for yourself to attend if it means that much to you.....? Point is, open to regular fans. My apologies, I hadn't realised you could buy a ticket, I thought it was 1883 members only. There was me thinking I was special and they've been letting the riff raff in all along!

No idea what your boring on about. If the awards was a success then that's great in itself. That's exactly right. Whatever way you choose to look at it, on it's own the event appears to be an enviable, professionally organised event. I know you can draw what you like from anything, but the end of awards ceremony must be pretty good because it appears not one valid criticism has come from the event itself. Well done the commercial department for arranging and executing such a prestigious occasion and making it inclusive by giving fans opportunity to join in.I have been to both of the end of season award evenings since we started holding them in town and they have indeed been incredibly professional and enjoyable but I'm not sure you could call them all that inclusive.
