Just wondering , will it be man walking on the moon for the FIRST time. Or the gas getting a new ground ? Mods- I know we are not allowed to go onto 'serious' stuff but could you just indulge on this one for a bit? Come on then Keg, what do you think REALLY happened back in 1969? I'm looking forward to your answer more than you can imagine

I imagine the hotel and conference facilities are probably more appealing to any buyers than taking on a football team Just back from the north west (Manchester specifically). Hotel and conference facilities in Bolton? Really? It's still pretty grim up north. Bury, Rochdale, Oldham, Blackburn, Wigan, Stockport etc... I wish them well. But I think that the EFL might look radically different in 5-10 years (in fact Stockport having been 'through it' once, are probably in a better place than the others). It's just not sustainable. Not for them, not for us. Why not? I stay in hotels at least once a week and most of them are in commercial areas, I would imagine workers outnumber tourists in most hotels in the country. Mind you, Bolton don't actually play in Bolton any more.

I see we are charging a premium price for our 'top six' fixtures, which includes the game against those giants of lower league football, err, Lincoln City!

PS Jules - suggest you f off back to your own forum Crikey AMPG - language! I'm shocked. I guess you can take the boy out of Banjo Island, but you can't take Banjo Island out of the boy :-) Hanham, my arse. If we have people using that sort of language here in Hanham then I shall be bringing it up at the next residents meeting! I suppose this is what happens when you allow Banjoers to move in

Well that was a storm in a tea cup! Admittedly Vital was slightly confrontational when he made his complaint but now none of us can see the article, which was actually quite good. I'm not sure this forum is busy enough to be deleting good posts when they do come along

Still don't get it I'm afraid. he mucked around a little bit during one of those incredibly mind numbing unimportant interviews. I really couldn't care less. The lack of a training ground, lack of progress on a new stadium, the seemingly endless ways we continue to mismanage and f up at every attempt, those are the annoying things. Because his mucking around is a symptom of the “I do what I like” attitudeI agree that attitude may not matter much when you apply it to interrupting a player interview after a pre-season friendly but it matters a great deal when it comes to important matters like the new stadium, the training ground and the club finances. If we allow him to get away with “I do what I like” on trivial matters it’s hardly surprising he carries it on in important matters. But if instead of cheering him on Gasheads were to say to him, en masse, “come off it Wael, stop taking the p*ss, behave like a mature adult and communicate with us about the financial situation, the stadium and the training ground” maybe he would come to his senses. I understood that was the point you were trying to make, I just don't agree with you.

really do think some people need to take a look at their own lives if all you can do is [attempt] to belittle a man trying to run a football club....... FOOTBALL !!! FFS Desperately trying to find a way of replying to your post without over using the letter “I” lostinspace (aware it’s bad form) but, almost uniquely I suppose, I am in a position to relay what it is like to be seen as one of the bosses trying to run a football club. So forgive a few “I’s” here and there. August 1987 and Rovers are away at Blackpool with the directors and a few others enjoying a Saturday morning stroll along the Prom. At one of the stalls I spot a cowboy hat with “s***head” printed on the front and point it out to Geoff. Geoff laughs and says “we’ll have that” so he buys it, sidles discreetly up to Vernon Stokes and puts it on his head without Vernon seeing what’s written on it. So for the next 20 minutes or so the VIP party from BRFC all decked out in club blazers and neatly pressed grey slacks are walking along the front with one of our number proudly wearing a cowboy hat with “s***head” “ emblazoned across it. Vernon couldn’t quite work out why everyone was sniggering at him but when he did he took it in a lighthearted way because he is a good sport with a great sense of humor. To me this is harmless fun. I could follow up with saying that a couple of years later we were back at Blackpool winning the third tier championship. But that is not the main point I want to make. The main point is that Rovers during those times were a tightly run ship with everyone pulling together because we had to be to survive. At every board meeting the finances were laid out in detail by an accountant working for Denis, called Jack England, and the books had to balance or else we had to put more of our own money in. If Geoff or I (in our thirties then) had been stupid enough to run up and hug a player while he was being interviewed Gerry Francis would have punched us and rightly so. Hopefully this explains why I feel so strongly about this incident and Wael’s other displays of egotistical behavior. Still don't get it I'm afraid. he mucked around a little bit during one of those incredibly mind numbing unimportant interviews. I really couldn't care less. The lack of a training ground, lack of progress on a new stadium, the seemingly endless ways we continue to mismanage and f**k up at every attempt, those are the annoying things.

I know that Bolton will be starting on -12 next season but does anyone know what's going on with Bury? There was talk of them getting the same punishment.
Every little helps!

I still with wael. He shows more dignity that some of the bitter old men posting nothing of note on here. If someone buys the club off of our owners fine but until then their the only owners we have. Would you describe it as dignified when the club President crashes in and hugs a player being interviewed ? Or is that just a bit of harmless fun like the 17 million loan, the 700 000 a year interest bill and the legal charge over the Mem ? Hugging the player is harmless fun, the other stuff isn't. Just because you don't like the guy, it doesn't mean that everything he does should be considered inept/disrespectful or sinister. I don't think there is any doubt that he is unable/incapable of helping the club progress (although I still cling on to a tiny shred of hope that he might) but to get upset or annoyed over him larking about is just daft.

Both teams seemed well off the pace for this, personally I'd mirror what they do in the Women's Champions League qualifers by having a group of four played in one location over a week. Three years ago Cardiff Met women hosted with games at their campus ground and Jenner Park.
Speaking of Cardiff Met, second trip to Leckwith this Thursday to watch the men. Currently 1-0 down after the first leg in Luxembourg to Progrès Niederkorn. Finely poised.
This was a fun one last night. Met scored in the second minute to draw level on aggregate and despite defending deep for much of the match (against a team with a near €3m budget and 24 pros) broke and won themselves a penalty which they converted with just over 20 to go. Progrès went ahead by means of away goals five minutes later with a well worked goal. Met threw the kitchen sink at Progrès in the last 10 but couldn't quite score. The final whistle was met with scenes nobody wants to see (bar everyone) as Progrès Progrès'd in a fiery encounter. Progres are my favourite ever Luxembourgian side

When you see the goals he scored on YouTube before he joined us he looked the part of proven striker. Since joining us he is undoubtedly is the worst striker ever to don the blue and white quarters. Last season he done an ok role in supporting the other wanabee strikers but never looked like scoring himself. My ninety year old grandad blinded folded would to be hard pushed not to double the seasonal rate achieved by Nichols. That said, at least he tried he wanted to come good for us so we can't fault him for his endeavour unlike Payne to be off loaded is an amazing achievement. With regards to Nichols, the best we can hope for is for somebody to take him on loan for the rest of his contract - maybe with a smaller club there will be less pressure so he might get his career back on track, and If that was to happen then great and I wish him well! Not even close!

That class snobbery thing is a bit weird. I thought The Clash were great and the fact that Joe Strummer was a bit of a posh boy never made me think the music wasn't 'authentic' (whatever the f that is supposed to mean Mind you, know that we know that The Idles drummer is a dirty stinkin red, I shall be crossing them off my Desert Islands Discs list ! Next you'll be getting your Spice Girls tattoos removed just because they played at The DSS. My Ginger Spice /Scary Spice 3some fantasy has been removed from my 'list'.

I know Joe, he's originally from Exeter, not a Gasheads. None of the others support Rovers either, Jon is a kinda s***head. Seems he's been in a bit of a spat with the Sleaford Mods. He's not quite (allegedly) the working class hero his music might suggest. Doesn't bother me. Seems to bother the Sleaford Mods though. That class snobbery thing is a bit weird. You all can't be making homemade jam for the Easter Compton Fair! Extra take on my twelve away days Blackpool - Get pumping up your plastic beach balls and doll's Coventry - Toteend1 and Toteend2 got Finnen £60 Esch not disposing cig's properly outside New Street Burton - Great Spoon,s in centre still waiting for brother in law to see gas win at his home Wimbledon - Ground in middle of no where - still theres allways Liverpool Street after the game - nudge nudge wink wink Bury (Rochdale) - Nearest we going to get to United or City Shrewsbury - Did not go last year cause were playing s*** at the time Tranmere - Allways wanted to see the. Cavern club and take a trip across the Mersey Sunderland - Cup final and continuation of our mutual respect for each otherSouthend - Took family there. Great fun fair and the longest Pier in the World Portsmound - Great pubs fans mixing together Well Great old ground Eastville like Oxford - Beautiful City - Case of the 'the keystone cop's' by the Hollywood Bowl Can't wait for the season to start as iam going a little 'stir crazy' UTG I think this 'mutual respect' thing between us and Sunderland maybe imaginary or in the very least exaggerated I will go to Blackpool- haven't been in years , so the opening fixture is an ideal time to make a weekend of it. Ipswich-haven't been in a while. Wycombe- always get a coach up from the Pied. Tranmere and Bolton- will make sure I am working in the area and do an overnighter. Sunderland- weekend away in Newcastle. Oxford- depend if we need a result.
