Sorry to break in on the debate about under- and over-achieving clubs, but here's an update on the Memorial Stadium attendances (total and away fans) to date, compared to last season. In summary, total attendance is up 0.28% after nine games, but the contribution of away fans to that total is down by just over 3%. 2013-14 Away Fans at the Memorial Stadium (First Nine Games)
S****horpe 248 (in 6259) Northampton 299 (in 5695) York 224 (in 5569) Hartlepool 113 (in 5579) Fleetwood 111 (in 5303) Wycombe 345 (in 5783) Chesterfield 430 (in 5667) Bury 240 (in 5534) Wimbledon 572 (in 5860) TOTAL 2582 away fans in 51249 2014-15 Away Fans at the Memorial Stadium (First Nine Games)
Grimsby 452 (in 7019) Telford 167 (in 5450) Halifax 260 (in 5394) Wrexham 230 (in 5082) Nuneaton 65 (in 4861) Woking 278 (in 6028) Dover 192 (in 6162) Dartford 79 (in 5112) Forest Green 362 (in 7014) TOTAL 2085 away fans in 52122
If your numbers are correct, away crowd is down 20%.........I'm not an accountant, promise.
Good numbers though, if we can keep the momentum, start scoring a few more, we might get 7k regularly, which would be awesome.
Owe you an apology, you said overall contribution. I'm off this thread.

It's been pretty harmonious in the last 6-7 weeks.
Reckon we can now go on another streak of several games without losing, and have a bit more enjoyment, because after all it's no fun being in this league or supporting this club, or this manager, or Matty Taylor or turning up.
I hate the last 10 years but ffs, we are adjusting to this hellish situation. We have been failed by the board, but we will see them out, 7000 watching this, DC might be untried at higher levels but I think he's good for this situation.

He put his hand over his mouth as if to say oh s**t scored against my old club, but with irony I reckon. With the stick he was getting his reaction was bang on. No moans from me except it won the game.
Apart from that he kept Cunnington grounded literally by holding him down and kept getting away with it.

I thought we looked predictable in the final third today. Cunnington won a bit in the air but there was little end product, and Taylor missed a sitter. I think Clarke should drop Taylor to tjhe bench for the Dorchester game and give Ellis Harrison a start. Rather he dropped Cunnington. I disagree about Taylor, works very well, wins headers and creates his own chances. He's a minuscule away from hitting a run I think. Cunnington missed the easiest chance today, and no bad reaction. Taylor and Harrison up front please.

Gosling, Taylor and now Martin. Three gilt-edged chances ... make that four, Trotman. You missed the biggest sitter of all....Cunnington's header, 6yards out, headed it straight down and bounced up to hit outside of post and bar. Dreadful miss. FGR a difficult spoiling side, we were out done in midfield, 2 wingers are fine if the momentum is there, but Martin is so out of touch it caused a negative effect. We had enough good chances to win the game, but didn't play well. The ref and linesmen were terrible, but it didn't cause us to play so badly, just added to the frustration of the game. We had yellows and a red but they were the physical side, just far too clever for the officials. Great attendance, and as always we balls up when there's a good turn out.

Just back. 1-1 drubbing. How did we not win this?!
Matt Taylor will get the blame, through one on one with the keeper, but seriously Cunnington twice should have squared to Taylor and shot from impossible positions, we also had 2 or 3 moves that set up great chances which were all messed up, what's wrong with putting your foot through the ball occasionally. Taylor played well, I think Ellis and him will prove to be a good combination.
Dover kept going but we looked a better outfit.

Can anybody help with fixtures, as I would like to go and watch a game or two? I think home matches are at Sun Life, but don't know when they are due to play.....
Thanks

We are not able to get the players in the building. We lack any creative type player and have no one to provide the chances that strikers need. It's gonna be a long, hard season. DC is going to fully understand what this job is really like. Agreed. Unfortunately, IMO there apperars to be at least four other teams in the league who have better players than we currently have. DC certainly needs to bring in a creative player in midfield as well as a couple of wingers. UTG Who are the four teams? Which players? i liked matty Taylor's movement. Should have shifted the ball on the one on one, but think he would score more than he misses. Back three were good enough. Midfield a bit of the same, but certainly don't think we will roll over and have a lack of effort, that's a big improvement. Agree re Gosling, and who knows Harrison might do something this year. I reckon something to build.

Sorry Simon, read your original post, I still can't work out what Ollie was or was not saying?? Sorry if unclear. I heard the interview on Talksport. Basically all about respect. Talked about Rovers as his club, and how we are out of the football league. Mentioned that the owners here got rid of him and said as he couldn't take us any further and they should of said he couldn't take us any further with them here. Clearly having a pop, and clearly still cares about us.

Another cracking interview about Milwall, all interesting.
Then discussed Wycombe and how he owed them for putting his team down. Said they're now a non league team and how he was told by those in charge when here Ian Holloway has taken us as far as he can, and what they should have said was as far as he can with us in charge!

If this is Conference standard, there is a bigger gap between it and L2 than L1 to L2. I think most L2 sides would have taken Rovers or Grimsby apart. Your opinion, mine is both those sides would be ok in Div2.

Actually enjoyed it. We can build on this. Great commitment, need a touch of composure but seriously alright.
Great crowd, Grimsby were hard working and battled all the way. My season isn't written off yet.

I never thought i would agree with anything that horrible little cretin said or did, but Buckle was right, and too think aswell that he said the remit from Higgs that season was 10th, i think most of us look back now and would have happily taken 10th then and during the following 2 seasons. For me this season is about recovery, a steady season where a team can be built, wounds can heal and a young manager can be given time to work his magic and build a project that might bring some longer term success. With you on then that WG

WCG I agree with a lot of what you say. I don't believe he should even be judged at Christmas unless we have an absolute disaster. As you will see in the next post I wrote ~ I do not expect promotion this season to be realisti***til we all (BoD and supporters) realise exactly where we are. I believe DC is the only one who does actually know exactly where we are and what needs doing.
He's been here before. At this moment in time I wish him success both from a professional, but also from a personal perspective.
I certainly hope he is given time but the Rovers "fans" today are not as patient as the fans of Twerton days. Their patience has been worn right down. or perhaps as Buckle said they have set their expectations too high..... I never thought i would agree with anything that horrible little cretin said or did, but Buckle was right, and too think aswell that he said the remit from Higgs that season was 10th, i think most of us look back now and would have happily taken 10th then and during the following 2 seasons. Its absolutely key to begin well, I know this is obvious, but we can build momentum very quickly. Any element of early success will get us going in the right direction. Skint, of course, we have less because of our demise, but surely we have a budget to compete.
We have retained several first team players (like that's a positive) who actually should be strong and good enough if DC can instil the realism that they need to fight first and then show they are better than the league they are playing in. As for the additions to the squad, again we hope DC has got some of what he was looking for.
I cant wait for the season, but rest assured we start poorly the whole thing will go disastrously, start well and we will maintain half decent support. Fingers crossed but I am not full of much optimism more hope, we deserve some good times right now.
