Anyone know anything about him?
We are apparently after him/looking at him according to Twitter.
He's a striker who plays for Shortwood. Hit 39 goals last season.

Bloody good player at Southern League level, saw him three times last season and is a right handful. I'd suggest we could take him on a relatively cheap deal if he still does his modelling.

He's 6ft as well. Provides a bit of height. Was also on trial at Oxford and scored.
This is what they had to say about him.
"He looked very composed on the ball with excellent close ball control. He ran the line well and showed he had a good amount of pace which could cause teams defences a few problems"
And yes, he also scored 4 goals in 45 minutes for Shortwood the other week.
Good luck to the lad.

Interesting that he was at the game on Friday as well (posted a picture of himself in the stands on Twitter)
According to Mcnamara he is not the striker we were originally after. That deal is now dead in the water. Step forward Culley?
Also Trotman could get a deal still. Training with Rovers again.

Maybe as an insurance policy if the Turley deal all goes tits up today?

Also if three centre backs are being played, you definitely need at least a couple of players who can cover if need be!

Culley sounds just the type of player we've been callng for the club to sign, gaolscoring wise anyway.

Possibly, although I'd have thought Lockyer was good enough cover, can't imagine either Trotman or Turley would want to sit on our bench. Unless, as the poster mentions above, somebody is leaving, I can't see the point in offering them both deals. Higgins yes because of the lack of full back cover, but otherwise I think our budget should be spent elsewhere.

Culley sounds just the type of player we've been callng for the club to sign, gaolscoring wise anyway. Lockyer, Parkes and Macca are the current three incumbents of the CB spots so adding another two would provide us with strength in depth. Turley would easily get in the starting three at the back when he's fully fit and Trotman would give them a run for their money as well. I wouldn't be surprised if we have interest in one of Parkes of Lockyer though, thus DC's decision to get Trotman back in. I hope not, I really do, but I wouldn't rule it out. Duncan Culley appears to be exactly the sort of striker we should be looking at. Height, pace and a natural finisher - what's not to like? If DC is impressed I think he'd add very good competition to White, Taylor and Brunt. Personally I'd be very pleased with our strike force if that was the quartet that we went into the season with. Just want to see the winger deal signed now. According to McNamara we are just negotiating how much of the player's wages we are willing to cover with his parent club. Fingers crossed it's done and dusted soon.

Culley worked under Alex Sykes last season who is a wonderful coach as well as Southern League legend Jody Bevan. If you're going to learn from a target man, Jody is your man. Jody scored 250 goals at Southern League level and was a hell of a player. Pretty pleased we're looking at players like Duncan.

www.bristolpost.co.uk/Bristol-Rovers-boss-Darrell-Clarke-casts-eye-non/story-22067309-detail/story.htmlMore information about Big Dunc Culley, 25, brought himself to the attention of higher-league clubs after scoring 40 goals for Southern League side Shortwood United last season and has since had unsuccessful trials with Wolverhampton Wanderers, Cheltenham Town and Oxford United over the summer. Clarke is keen to add one more striker to his front-line before Rovers begin their Conference Premier campaign against Grimsby Town at the Memorial Stadium on Saturday and had tabled an offer for an unnamed forward on a permanent deal last week. That deal has now fallen through after the player in question requested additional time to consider his options and, on Culley, Clarke said this morning: “I’ve heard good things about Duncan and we are having a look at him in training for a few days. “Duncan has done well a few levels below the Conference Premier and has had trials with a couple of other clubs over the summer. We need to assess his fitness levels and then we will see where we go with that. “He’s a big, powerful and quick lad, who had a great goal scoring record at Shortwood last season. It would be remiss of us not to at least have a look at him.”

You get the impression we won't have another "Constable situation" chasing a player for months.....
