Well they are not going to get a stadium without us.
It might be brinkmanship by the AQs, who knows.

The chairman categorically stated on the night of the Wael bbc documentary at the Mem we would be getting he uwe. He lied. We are all being deceived as to his and others' credibility in running a professional club. Don't let your heart rule your head, GasHeads, something is very wrong here. I don't believe he lied but I do believe he was misled. "Done deal" were also his words back in February. I also believe that a deal was agreed with UWE but somebody has stopped the completion of that deal. It's strange that Hani appears to be the person quoted amongst all of the rumours doing the rounds at the moment and not Wael who I truly believe has the club at heart. I have a feeling that the new owners are not united and that is why a halt has been called.

Ok, we'll agree to disagree on the chairman issue, but please log this somewhere for future reference, as I'm not convinced he has our club's interest at heart as a priority. The rest of your comments are spot on, Imo..

The UWE has dragged on for so long, few will surprised it is not happening. Details of Plan B need to be shared, as does detail on why the UWE deal collapsed. This is important in terms of the credibility the Al-Qadi family has and the relationship they have with the fan base. I guess most of the 'new owners are no better than Higgs' type hysterical responses can be found on gasshat.

It appears UWE want a deal - seems likely we can't raise the money. The owners have been splashing the cash but unfortunately it appears to all be borrowed against the Mem. This doesn't feel right. Some serious questions need to start being asked.

On BBC news, there was a line that wasn't in the short statement on the Rovers site: In a statement, the club said it would "now have to go back to the drawing board" after abandoning plans to move to UWE .
That doesn't sound as though there's a Plan B ready to reveal. Link to BBC news report

I think that the BBC documentary on the family mentioned that Hani was the one who would control the spending (or lack of). I agree that Wael is a true football man at heart, but it seems that he can't unlock the purse strings.

Let's hope DC was not fed some line about the UWE to sign his 5 year contract.

Someone from UWE will apparently be speaking on Radio Bristol within the next half hour or so, if anyone's able to listen.

Why spend 18 months getting to a point of no deal? How long now, another 5 10 year pipe dream to hope for? I just don't understand why so many people are relaxed about this. It's called negotiating. I understand the original agreement formed with the previous owners was not particularly beneficial to the club to say the least. Wael & his team have come in and reviewed the plans/contracts from scratch and obviously have spent a lot of time, money and resources attempting to renegotiate the contract to ensure that the new stadium is profitable and sustainable etc. This is what it is like to have a professionally run club. Unfortunately (and sort of understandably from UWE's point of view - given how favourable the previous deal apparently was to them); the deal evidently could not be modified so that both parties were happy and now we have had to walk away. It's a shame, but I am confident that the decision was made in the best interests of the club. I hope that now the owners will focus on a different site - where the land is owned by the club and so no reliance on any other parties... I'm am sure modifications will be made to the Mem in the interim to modernise... and we should see some decent progress on the new training ground too. There is still every reason to be optimistic, I think. You put this far better than I could. This is exactly what I was thinking. The gang we had before obviously made a complete hash of the contact, and Wael and his team were determined to renegotiate in our best interests. I would rather wait for a better deal than dive headfirst into a new stadium which could end up in bankruptcy. Everyone is rightly disappointed but I would imagine that includes Wael. Let's keep the faith.

Seems then that the Al-Qadis are not the messiah, after all. Ah well. Anyone think we need a strong independant supporters club, to ask the right questions?

So the club were previously quoted saying how frustrating it was to deal with slow negotiations with the UWE board, and now UWE are saying the same thing about the AQ's, someone is being economical with the truth.

I don't suppose there's anything else to say at this stage. Perhaps an explanation about why the chairman lied to supporters to say there was a plan B, seems clear that there is no plan B, I have believed all along that this group of people are different to Higgs, 18 months of talk that ends in nothing, f*** showing any faith in these now, trust has gone for me. Had me fooled that he knew what he was doing, just put the club back another 5 f***ing years. I think a lot of fans were clamouring for a stadium deal of any sorts - which is why people got their hopes up over this crap one which would've seen us turn into another Coventry, where we don't make much from our own home games. Wasted far too much money with the Sainsbury's saga and all the court appearances, so I think they had had their fingers burned. You're crazy if you think the current set up is anywhere near as shady and disingenuous than the last lot!

Let's keep the faith. Why keep the faith? We don't know these people from Adam. We had never heard of them 2 years ago. We don't even know where the money for Dwayne sports has/is coming from, not really.
They might turn out to be brilliant, but we should be asking questions, its our club.
