So to avoid talking in riddles, certain members of this Forum are suggesting; 1. Hamer and KM were actively involved in the FM bid 2. The FM deal is now dead 3. We are now in discussions with another Consortium fronted by Richardson That's my take, I thought that I would summarise. Who is Richardson?

Have you asked the Al qadis speech writers? Yes I did Bambi is ever so busy on here and can’t spare any time shame as he is bright, intelligent and can even spell big words without resorting to spell check .. do you wish to become famous for fifteen seconds Rex and have your words pondered over in the esteemed Pirate magazine? Although I haven't seen it with my own eyes, I believe I have been in it a couple of times this season. I happy to sign anyones copy for the rice of a pint of Doombar and/or Guinness

Again. I agree with Harry! It pains me to say it but am I the voice of reason? As we all know history is written by the winners. As you know our Bristol Rovers History Group is up and running and am looking for creative writers to contribute an occasional article to the Rovers match day programme. Please get in touch with me if you are interested Have you asked the Al qadis speech writers?

Sorry I asked now. Nobody knows then? Knowing the future is the flower of the Way, and the beginning of folly. Old Chinese proverb I believe. Or possibly Hong Kong Phooey.

That was the way it used to be, a succession of Bristol business and professional men put their money in as custodians, had their fun and then passed the club on. But it ended when Nick and Co made repayment of their loans and bonds the condition of passing the club on to Dwane Sports. Now we have to be pragmatic, accept that these people have their bases covered and try to persuade them to pass the club on with no conditions and to those with the best chance of making Rovers a success. In which case, we are screwed. Who would buy in to this club at (circa) £15m when they could walk in to just about any L1 or L2 club for a fraction of that sum.Presumably, someone who cares for the club who has money to burn. Any lottery winners in today ?

When I say press I mean press for something not protest against something. If we are not vigilant the current ownership may form a partnership which will continue to run the club in the same way with the same lofty promises but at someone else’s ground. Before that happens if an alternative appears with plans which stand up to close scrutiny then we should unite and press for that alternative to be our future. Frankly we need leaders like Tony Craig on the pitch to get us back on track and leaders off the pitch. All the marketing in the world will not solve a problem like BRFC. Fans will remain apathetic to change calling for the managers head and for the owners to sell up. Sadly we are what we are a third rate business surviving year on year occasionally rising hopes but invariably failing to make progress. We are Not doomed just floating along. UTG Let the 19th of January forever be remembered as the day I agreed with a harrybuckle post.

I wonder if Pines and Cornwall allowed themselves a little cheer when the 3rd went in at Rotherham?

Well I would imagine an ex director would be able to. Why? He's got nothing to do with the club now, and he was part of the BoD that sat on their hands and watched Higgs take us out of the League. He should be nowhere near anything at all to do with the club, apart from being on the customer side of the counter. I'm not saying he should have a right to do so, but I would imagine if you worked in a place for years it would be fairly easy to hitch a ride now and then.

So what has the Brsc ever done for us Raised hundred s of thousands of pounds to secure the future of the club. Worked tirelessly to secure a share scheme to ensure the fans have a voice. We should acknowledge their tremendous work over six decades. Fair play to those who have volunteered flogging tickets , programmes and giving up their own time to benefit the club. However, whether they have 'secured the future of our club' or have been able to 'ensure the fans have a voice' maybe stretching it a bit.

To be fair to Boycie, he does actually get to a few away games and I imagine it's easy enough for him to hitch a lift with the players. When I was going here there and everywhere with Rovers, he was the one board member you could pretty much really on being at some northern outpost on a cold Tuesday night. Oh, OK, so you can just jump on the players' coach.Fair enough. In that case I'll stop using the SC travel to get to games sat with social misfits and weirdos, half of who don't even like each other. Well I would imagine an ex director would be able to.

Assuming this has been rumbling on for a while now, it makes Masters' and Bradshaw's appearance on the players coach in Reading services after the Ipswich game even more strange. There didn't appear to be anyone else from the club with them, but I probably wouldn't have recognised them anyway if there were. What on earth has Boycie got that these owners could possibly want or need? To be fair to Boycie, he does actually get to a few away games and I imagine it's easy enough for him to hitch a lift with the players. When I was going here there and everywhere with Rovers, he was the one board member you could pretty much really on being at some northern outpost on a cold Tuesday night.

Dave Gilroy had 0/18 games (Wikipedia) Mike Davis had 1/17 games (Gasopedia) Could have sworn that "Mad" Mike Davis scored 2 against Millwall at the last ever game at the Old Den... might have only been 1 though... I just watched the footage on YouTube and it was just the one he scored. I 'remembered' that he scored a hat trick in the game- and I was there!

There's only 90 grounds in the Football League. So how come I and many thousands of others are members of the 92 formed by Rovers fan and good friend of mine Gordon Pearce in the 1980s ?
You may be a member of the Mile High club but that don't cut the mustard with us groundhoppers.
In actual fact I have watched Rovers on 157 different grounds/stadiums but I try and blank out those in that lost season in the Conference (I am still getting counselling for that twelve months out of the FL) The long departed Somerton Park, Feethams and the Baseball Ground are three of my faves. Gateshead and Boston the two least liked.
Part timer .

Dumbarton has a spectacular backdrop but is a desperately dull ground, there was talk of them moving again.

Thanks Steve. It's almost that we have forgotten how poor we were in achieving 4th. Outplayed by Bromley, Plymouth, Southend in first half and Bolton. Am I wrong? So let's not re-write History. We were and still are a very average team in a poor League 1. The only future we have is to develop younger players and to do this we need a Coach and a good Academy system. Otherwise you end up with the Kyle Bennetts of this world on inflated wages. Football is a farce. Look at City - they have so many of their youngsters out on loan - O'Leary, Vyner, Morrell, Bakinson,Sanneh, Hinds, with Semenyo to follow. I lose count. Let us go back to basics. Find youngsters, play youngsters, improve youngsters, sell a few youngsters and survive. It's the only viable model. I did laugh when someone objected to his puffer jacket. Please don't blame Garner, blame me instead. Since I was bought the Rovers gnome and he arrived in the house on Christmas Day, we haven't won. 😂 In the overall point you seem to be trying to make, yes, I think you are. Of the games you mentioned, two were cup games that we ultimately progressed in, one we won and the other we lost (one of only five games all season lost under GC) Who cares whether we had a grim first half against Southend, it's irrelevant because we tore them a new one in the second half and won the game. Coughlan was a decent manager who got FA in the way of support from the board and little from the terraces as well , something which I believe, was a significant factor in his departure. I will get behind Garner because there is no alternative, but I will be amazed if he does as well as GC did here.
