A thread for those that aren't going to Rovers but are still taking in games elsewhere. I'm looking to get to my 200th ground in 2015 and I have plenty planned already. Currently on 189 grounds so here's what I have coming up;
Warminster vs Welton Rovers on Saturday, nice little train trip to join Welton supporters as they look to help their promotion push.
March 20th I'm off to Frankfurt to visit a friend, have five games and five new grounds planned but with lots of options. Stand out games are Mainz - Wolfsburg & Stuttgart - Frankfurt. Lots planned while I'm there though including a Frauen-Bundesliga match.
April 17th depending on how fixtures fall a couple of us are off to Lille for a couple of days before the Dover game. Either Lille or Valenciennes on the Friday night.
Also a friendly match between Dulwich Hamlet and Altona (of Germany) in July. It's a 6pm kickoff so hopefully I'll get another game in that day as well.

I have just had a count up and reckon I'm on 194. Only Dover and Gateshead to do in this division with Rovers, and I may be struggling for Gateshead anyway. I am in Scotland for a fortnight as from next week and hope to tick off Raith and Cowdenbeath, but it looks like I will fall just short of the 200 before the end of the season. I could do with us getting relegated again to tick a few more off

I am strictly an amateur ground collector compared to the hardcore on here who dream of cantilevered stands, proper floodlights etc. However, I have clocked up a fair few over the years and am determined to at least get to all the Greater Manchester area clubs before the end of the season. So far on Bolton and Rochdale left to go (don't quite know how I've managed to never watch Rovers at Rochdale but it hasn't happened). Chalked Oldham off the list before Christmas when I saw them play Crawley - liked Boundary Park a lot. Have put a tick next to the box marked 'Wigan' - I wish the box had not been marked Wigan though. The DW is sterile, boring stadium with passionless fans in the middle of a trading estate. It's also a bit like Dave Whelan's erstwhile sport wear business; it's cheap as chips. They didn't find a corner they weren't prepared to cut. They even provide their own in house version of Soccer Saturday for the telly's in the concorse - I couldn't believe that. It's basically just the score running underneath while adverts play on repeat but still. They were playing Bournemouth, who were very good and when the 3rd Bournemout goal went in with about 55 mins gone half the Wigan fans left. They left with 335 minutes to go - I have never seen so many people leave during a game and there weren't that many of them to start with. They were awful, they're going down; good.

Both my Dad and I have a fair few to do around Lancashire, I need Oldham, Rochdale, Bolton, Burnley and PNE. Daft really, I went out with a girl from Rochdale for a year and didn't tick a couple of them off. Did the DW with Rovers, we lost 3-0 I think and wore that awful unlucky yellow avec kit.

Daft really, I went out with a girl from Rochdale for a year and didn't tick a couple of them off. Did the DW with Rovers, we lost 3-0 I think and wore that awful unlucky yellow avec kit. For me, the problem with both Rochdale and Oldham is that they are a fair way from public transport and so as I don't have a car to get there it is a bit of an effort. As I tend to do these things on a whim I can normally find more reasons not to go or just take the easy option and go and watch Stockport County who are just up the road dirt cheap to watch these days. The problem with Bolton is the cost - there doesn't seem to be any way of getting in for less than £25 even for cup games or 'category B's' and generally I just can't bring myself to spend that much money when I'm not that invested. Although if it was the last one on my list I'm sure I'd stump up the cash. Oldham really impressed me - old fashioned ground and when they have the new stand up it should look pretty good and nicely enclosed. There was a decent atmosphere there too - complete opposite to Wigan they had a proper fan culture at Boundary Park. Both Oldham and Stockport have that thing where the ground is built into the terracing that is around them which adds a nice oldey worldy feel and is kind of the stereotype of what a lower league Northern club should be like. But the new stand at Oldham looks really modern and interesting. Plus the view up there is terrific. People are not exaggerating on the cold thing though - bloody freezing. Been to PNE too - that's a good modern ground. Not a wrap around stadium but 4 distinct stands and theey have pictures of PNE greats painted on the seats. Bigger place than you'd think Preston and they have a passionate support too. In Lancashire in general I just need to do Blackburn and Burnley (again motivation of distance is the issue there really) and Blackpool. Looking forward to ticking 2 others off the list with Rovers this year - Macclesfield (can't believe I've been there but we've always seemed to play them during the cricket season before) and Halifax.

Good day out yesterday at Warminster as ten man Welton went top of the league with a 1-0 win. Good, tidy ground for Western One level and I'd recommend it for hoppers.

That's my Germany trip all planned then, get to Frankfurt Friday morning, drop my stuff at the Hostel and then it's the train to Offenbach Kickers vs Elversberg at the Sparda Bank Stadion... Saturday morning sees an early start to get the train south for VfB Stuttgart U19's vs Nurnberg U19's at the Robert-Schlienz-Stadion at 12:30... Then I'll just pop across the road for VfB Stuttgart vs Frankfurt at the Mercedes-Benz Arena... Sunday morning see's an early trip to TSG 1899 Hoffenheim vs USV Jena in the Frauen-Bundesliga at the Dietmar-Hopp Stadium... We'll have to leave that a little early to get the train to Mainz in time for Mainz vs Wolfsburg at the Coface Arena... Trying to look for a youth game Monday day time before my flight home in the Frankfurt area because frankly I'm an absolute idiot. This weekend is going to be so good.

Oldham is a fair walk from the station if I recall from my Manc student days going through some less than glamorous suburbs.

Ah - I must have missed out on those suburbs of Oldham that qualify as 'glamorous'! Spend quite a lot of time around Oldham playing cricket and I actually quite like it but you are right it's a fair old trek from the station. They have recently put in the tram though that's right but it's still about 15 mins walk away. I am jealous of that Germany trip - always wanted to do that. It does strike me as the holy land of ground hopping.

It was meant to be built around the Bristol Academy match, unfortunately though they changed dates and I had already organised seeing my mate who lives over there. Been over a fair few times, it's great! Cheap trains, cheap games, reasonably priced booze. Had a good little hop in Ireland back in October. Watched Bristol at Raheeny on the Thursday night, Bohemians - Sligo on the Friday and then Jake Gosling vs Ireland on the Saturday.

Love these sorts of threads so keep the replies coming!
I'll do a proper count up at some point but think I'm between 40 and 50. Done 5 new grounds this season, 4 with Rovers and went to Molineuz with a Wolves supporting mate who had a spare ticket.
Should be doing Macc and Dover as well which will both be new.

You go on about how you hate Lansdown and Bristol Rugby for his tax avoidance yet you're prepared to go abroad to watch his other venture?

"Before he was involved they'd been to a FA Cup final and played in the Champions League...
Also worth noting he puts very little into the club bar rent on training facilities at SGS College. The reason Academy are part of Bristol Sport is the FA insisted on WSL clubs having links with men's clubs to retain their license. A truly bonkers decision as a strong WSL is about having strong independent clubs as well as those linked with male clubs. The clubs work together with their community project sharing coaches, Academy use Ashton Gate for Champions League games and City train and pay rent at SGS but that's as far as the relationship goes. Academy will have either the smallest or second smallest budget in the top flight next season not employing one professional, if Lansdowne has put in money I don't think we'd have seen three players leaving the club to take up professional contracts."
Couldn't be bothered to post it all again but you get the gist.
