The new video accompanying the season ticket promotion (pardon the pun): Crap you are gorringe..... it's simply brilliant. The videos Rovers have produced since he has been here have been very professional, as was the end of season awards do I attended last year , all very , very different from what we have known in the past. I'm a pretty positive person and I am pleased that things like this have greatly improved. However, promotional videos and professional award ceremonies are so, so far down on my list of priorities, that they barely even register. 'All fur coat and no knickers' is the phrase that springs to mind.

It was probably the most unsuccessful punch since Fabien Speiss at Torquay. I thought that our idiots who tried at attack Gavin Ward and then froze when they got up close and saw how big he was, then both fell over, were particularly pathetic. I'm sure we are still diligently enforcing a lifetime ban on them both.We are enforcing it as diligently as City are enforcing their lifetime bans after our players were chased from the pitch.

I have a choice on Tuesday. My hotel is 6 miles from both Egham Town & Molesey's grounds and both are at home that evening. Egham Town are bottom and playing 2nd placed Bracknell Town, Molesey are one from bottom and playing 3rd placed Marlow. I can't decide which to go to!

I was in Taunton last week and saw the floodlights from the Crown Trading Estate (As you said you could hardly miss them) I was wondering how I had never noticed them before- now I know! I was visiting family about 2 minutes from the ground. You can see the lights from their front door! From the Crown trading estate they would be very noticeable! Did you think it added to or diminished the skyline? Well I like a floodlight, even if it does belong to the carrot crunchers They look identical to the ones at Glos, except I prefer the ones there much more

On a separate note, at the time I was hugely disappointed with the attendance at the Notts County game in 1990 when it was our first opportunity to get to Wembley. I was drinking with Vaughan Jones after the game and he also was very disappointed with it, as apparently were most of the team. The game that gets you to Wembley is invariably much more fun than the actual 'day out'. Notts County away is right up there with one of my most memorable away days (on that god awful cage like terrace they had at the time), Crewe away the year we lost to Huddersfield was another amazing night. Even Shrewsbury away (spookily enough I am writing this in a hotel about half a mile from where Gay Meadow was) was a great night out- albeit because we thought we had done enough to secure a Wembley trip. As for the City game and Rickie Lambert's goal, I still get all teary eyed thinking about it!

In the case of Rochdale their problem is competition within the area. Ie. Because they are the smallest club considered to be offering the lowest wages players will often leave for fairly small wage increases. But Rochdale aren't rubbish - they punch massively above their weight. It's pretty impressive that they've managed to play most of the last decade at this level in the first place. Same goes for Bury - their fans laughably consider their natural level to be the 3rd tier despite registering crowds that would be pretty average in the Conference. Yet they've been able to attract players of the pedigree of James Vaughan and Jermaine Beckford (who admittedly hasn't been that great for them) and despite being one of those clubs constantly under threat of bankruptcy always seem to find another backer willing to come in and spend on the team.
I've spoken to a couple of jobbing lower league pros up here and asked them exactly that question - and their response is always that they'll only move to a club in another part of the country if they have to or if the money and terms are significantly better (rather than just a little bit better). So I do think there's something in it - probably not as much as some managers of both City and Rovers have made out in the past (I mean it's obviously a convenient excuse - I can imagine there are worst places to attract people to move to than Bristol) but footballers are ultimately like anyone else. If you have an offer of a job for similar money/status from a company up the road from where you've lived most of your life and are well networked professionally or a company halfway across the country in a place you have no other connections in then why would you move? I can see how that might have led us to add an extra year to a contract or top up a wage offer over the years -you have to think that agents are going to leverage that at least. I think it's nonsense to blame Rovers poor recruitment on this - ultimately that's about decent planning and strategy - but I do think it can be a factor in negotiations.
Mate, I'm not wading through that. Find a way of saying it in a reasonable length post please.Bloody hell really? It took me 35 seconds to read it(sadly I timed it)

I have never agreed with the allowing of a second team in competitions, but it seems if you can't beat 'em, join 'em. My second team will be known as Rex's Checkatrade U21's.

After all of that a wholesome weekend in Devon awaits with a trip to Torquay - Weston. A nice little reminder of how bad it could have been. I saw Torquay lose at Oxford City this season (I think it was their first defeat) half (or maybe more) of the crowd were Torquay, I get the feeling a few of them are enjoying what they hope will be a brief stay in that division much the way a few of us enjoyed our conference season. I saw Truro lose at home to Woking this week, again there were a large number of away fans, which was pretty impressive for a nigh on 500 mile round trip on a Tuesday night, and both sets of fans were joining in with a chant of how they 'f**king hate Torquay'. There were also a couple of people wearing Torquay colours at the game, strange night all round

Off to Truro City v Woking on Tuesday. I went down there last year, but the snow put paid to the match. Then they moved to groundshare with Torquay, so I thought I had lost my chance. Delighted they are back home- albeit their future looks a little up in the air. Only a fiver to get in as well- bargain!

I am sure no relegation will come, as it will in football, and you know what? f**k 'em, let them run off and count all their money. No sport means anything without fans (not that the likes of Lansdown care about that) They can try and recreate an atmosphere all they want with uber loud PA systems etc, but they will fail.

Someone I know bought 23 tickets yesterday and was tod at the shop that not all the stadium will be open and that there were plenty of tickets left, so it would appear any talk of a 5 figure crowd would be well off the mark. For the trophy match I assume?! Sunderland haven’t sold anywhere near their allocation so itll definitely be in the low thousands., Sorry my mistake, somehow I had it in my head we were talking about the trophy game. As you were everyone
