I don't really understand how Twitter works, so I could be way off the mark here, but these reads like you want players banned from it, because one of them didn't agree with you and then didn't want to get involved with a side argument . I will say though, that it is slightly worrying in the current climate, that if you question certain things you are labelled a pariah by many. Jonathan Pies seems to be the only person in the world speaking any sense these days No, no. I think you need to use it to understand. I think social media is becoming more dysfunctional. No point in having free speech and debate when people are so polarised they can't cope with anything out of their perspective without unpleasantness. I broadly agree with that, but your original post seem to question whether Rovers players should be allowed social media accounts, but presumably- by the very fact you were interacting with that particular player- you were happy with them using Twitter until he disagreed with you.

I've recently had a few tweets with a rovers player. It was with ref to blm, the upshot was he told me I must be racist or stupid. There were a few more tweets and again he told me the same thing. I'm neither stupid or racist by any measure and was trying to have a sensible debate. The result of this is that I had a threat on twitter, I've had to block and report the individual, who I think is just some juvenile idiot, who can't see past disagreeing with the player. I asked the player if I could message him directly as I thought after the threat that the issue was out of hand, but he replied no and that I could just tweet the message, which considering the threat I wasn't willing to do. I've now had to block all the contributors to the tweets inc the player. So, should players have a contractual clause that permits them from using social media, or has it nothing to do with the club? As far as the rest goes I'm going to forget the issue and move on, the only positive from twitter appears to be tims listeningparty. I don't really understand how Twitter works, so I could be way off the mark here, but these reads like you want players banned from it, because one of them didn't agree with you and then didn't want to get involved with a side argument . I knew that Accrington were one of the original 12 and did know at one point that they were only known as Accrington without the Stanley bit and it was a new club when Stanley was added. But until you mentioned it epping I’d probably forgotten before being reminded. As for BCFC1982, if they are the same club I look forward to reading in Bristol Live that they have paid all their creditors and that the companies and individuals who all went bankrupt are now receiving their due money in full. If I don’t then the current lot started life in 1982 and have a league history newer than Peterborough, Cambridge and Hereford. I suspect I know which one their accountants will choose and which one their fans will choose. They probably won’t be the same! UTG! Our league history is even newer !

It is the posters opinion and one they are entitled to as are you. I actually think it was a very good and thought provoking post and better than the one or two line rants that most, including myself, post. It was well written. Did it tell you anything of fact, no. Just don't be taken in by better than average prose. Forums, by their nature, are places of opinion. If you are looking for cold, hard facts, you're in the wrong place.

I'm as right on and leftie as anyone I know, but some of the things being talked about at the moment are driving me up the wall. I even saw an interview with Jim Davidson the other day where I found myself agreeing with him. The world's gone mad I tell 'ee! So even the moderate left think this has all got out of hand? Interesting stuff. I was chatting to a couple of my Sikh friends yesterday. I was very interested in their opinion as I thought my views / standpoint had lurched from 'a bit right of centre' to a worrying 'very right of centre'. They were further to the right in their views than me. Doesn't make them right or wrong. Just interesting. It's not just the 'left things' that have got out of hand, there are equally other insane things that those on the right get their knickers in a twist about. If someone in the Labour Party dares mention a certain country in the middle east, it's anti semetic. If a comedian mentions the name of a music hall act, apologies are needed. Being a member of the Armed Forces seems to elevate you to god like status with some people , regardless of what you have done or said. Everyone suddenly thinks they are Colin Kaepernick, failing to see that when he took a knee, it actually meant something, when every other fer does it at every opportunity it is about effective as standing outside your door and clapping to show your support for the NHS. Even Captain Tom, who seems a decent sort of bloke, is bestowed with further meaningless titles in some sort of attempt to show those in power 'understand us'. I mean , why not call him Guardian of the Universe for good measure. And now the RFU are looking into whether we should sing 'Swing Low' at Twickenham anymore, I mean FFS. Mind you I would be incredibly impressed that if , after their review, it was banned, not on the grounds of racist connotations but on the grounds of good taste, dreadful dirge that it is. I wouldn't be surprised if Chris Morris is behind all this and we are living in some global edition of Brass Eye. Anyway, this is a football forum, stop winding me up you lot!

There are approx 2 million people living in colonies today, I think there are 16 of them and I really can't be bothered to check to be part of the pc absurdity rubbish that is happening in the west right now. There is world cup coming up in a country which has used Asian slave Labour in construction and people are concerned by the title "the colony". I'm as right on and leftie as anyone I know, but some of the things being talked about at the moment are driving me up the wall. I have always thought Wael comes across as a decent bloke and that his fondness for our club is not in doubt. I was never one who got too carried away when he arrived, but I liked the evolution not revolution message and I did think the future looked good. The inaction on the training ground and the increasing realisation that Wael wasn't in full control made me think that what we had was a decent bloke, who did not have a clue or have the ability to take the club forward. I think the weekend's news is great, but until I see bricks and mortar I won't be getting carried away. If I won the lottery tomorrow and donated £20,000,000 to Rovers, it would be a fantastic gesture on my part, but it wouldn't mean I had any idea what to do next, and I'm sure I would be more than capable of getting the club back into debt. I really do hope I have to eat humble pie on this one, but I won't be taking my helping of it just yet.

It is reasonable to look at yesterday's developments as extremely positive for the club. The large reduction of the debt and Wael streamlining the family control of the club being the two obvious highlights. At the same time, it is also possible and sensible to acknowledge that that yesterday's news could be rendered completely irrelevant, if the same mistakes are made over the next 5 years. There is nothing wrong with maintaining scepticism of the latest news or wishing to continually hold those in power to account - we will always need people to counter-balance the hype. Following on from how fans may receive the news, I think Gasheads have a bigger part to play in the overall plan than they realise. If we as fans want "evolution not revolution" to work, we need to think about what we want to see from the club and match our patience and expectations accordingly. You can't invest in youth and grow your own, if we get on their backs or quickly resort to demanding that senior, higher profile players are signed to improve our fortunes. We all know that early in their career, the majority of youth players will seem weak and incapable of taking us where we want to be. Marrying the development of young prospects with the expectations and desires of football fans to see their club be successful, can sometimes be like trying to mix oil and water. I also understand that as Rovers fans, we have already invested huge amounts of time, money and patience across God-knows how many years, signings, managers and stadium plans. However, if you are the kind of fan who does worry about the sustainability or finances of the club; a fan who wants to see as many young players progressed as possible and the type of fan who wants to see Rovers continue to re-cement itself as a traditional, respected Football League Club; redrawing some additional patience for the staff and players at this time will surely go a long way. UTG. I think there is more chance of us being in a new stadium in time for next season! I think this is more of a time for cautious optimism about the future of our club , we have all seen a fair few false dawns.

I saw Rosario Central in March on a warm evening against Argentinos Juniors. Lovely game, lots of fun. If any of you hark back to the "good old days" of football Argentine football isn't far off of it. You can read about the game here. Anyway, aside from the plug Central carry out a delicious tradition every year. On the anniversary of their semi final win against Newel Old Boys (their arch rivals) Central supporters recreate the winning goal, a diving header by Aldo Poy. They've done it in multiple countries, and I believe they want to do it at Wembley. Big fan of the level of pettiness. Brilliant! I wonder if that's where Baddiel and Skinner got the idea for 'Phoenix From The Flames' ! We should recreate Lambert smashing the ball Basso while he took both knees

Only if there's no Doombar or Guinness Neither is available. Only breweries who support the club allowed. In the interests of supporting the club, I am happy to drink free pints of Tribute. I wonder, do Glenmorangie support the club?

I still prefer the way that the Exeter boardroom conducts itself and if Wael looked at their ethics and his cash the future could be very exciting. I'm sure. The fans I spoke to on the Big Bank that day were all well on board with the way the club was being run, which was an interesting and novel thing. I'm really hoping to get to an Exeter game again next season when I take my daughter back. She's renting a house about 300m away from St James Park. Would love to take you up on the offer of a pint beforehand. What a heady notion. If there's free beer, I'm in.

He Ducked Off last night after an exchange with Bamber. Such a shame, I enjoyed his company. That is a shame, I liked him too. Still, if he's happier to go, it's for the best. I think we may have lost Bambi too- he can't possibly have been quiet this long!
