Joey Barton's new trial will take place on Friday, November 26. The Bristol Rovers manager's trial was stopped yesterday due to issues with the video link to Germany for Daniel Stendel's evidence and concerns over translation. Serious question Pop. Does this mean the EFL/FA disciplinary process is also put on hold until November? they have waited this long for the courts to take the lead on getting to the bottom of it? so almost certainly yes. Why wouldn’t they? let’s give Barton till December to redeem his career, and not applaud however he gets the sack? He’s only here for a smidgen of rovers history, and good behaviour from Joey and on field success from now can only be a good thing for both parties? Do you see my point? Firstly, if it remains as bad as it has been last eighteen months we can go down. 😟. This club needs to claw 55 points on the board ASAP. Secondly, on second thoughts, I don’t want to sing through all Les Mis, but what are we... if we subscribe to philosophy of Bad Seeds and “no redemption for you”?

Barton given until December to turn around the on field results and his reputation is a gift in a way?
I’m getting second thoughts about the idea of calling people bad seeds, and applauding when they go down.
Am I wrong?

Actually hoping Bristol Rovers Manager gets sent down! Destructive and useless. on the other hand though. Now we know what we know It sounds very much like he ran into the tunnel and pushed someone over into a metal barrier bashing their face up, and walked by to his dressing room. That is the accusation to be deliberated? IF a court finds that as true, that violence from behind certain dismissal from any job isn’t it? you would support sacking if a court found that to be what happened? anyone not support sacking if that is the eventual outcome of the case

How many people would have been in that tunnel? 22 players, + subs, support staff etc. Would expect several to come forward as witnesses. Cant believe so many missed the incident.

And me. On the up side, he may not be our manager by then. Surely that would be a massive downside, as it would mean we had started the season very poorly. I can't believe you want that Annie. Some of the others on this sad thread, yes. Not you. No I don't want it. But if it happens I hope we get rid asap. The delay to the court case is the worst of all worlds imo. Leaves us in limbo for another five months. Edit: I don't think anyone else wants it either. Wanting rid of JB does not equal wanting a poor start, middle or end to the season.

People don't pay attention to what's going on around them. Particularly in a situation where they wouldn't be expecting to need to be watchful. They'll have reacted when Stendel crashed into the tunnel, but it's quite believable they'd not have seen what caused it. Plenty of witnesses to the event, but only one who was aware enough and in a position to see clearly is not surprising in a crowd. Video footage is likely to be a key witness in this case.

To be honest that should be asked. I understood tunnels are not just players and playing staff, but club officials, stewards, media. At that sort of moment you would expect plenty of clear witnesses to a human getting violently pushed to be flying through air and bouncing via their face off a metal barrier. on the other hand though, if a court with expensive defence team pick it all over, and the court finds Barton guilty of the alleged crime, all gasheads would support sacking if a court found that to be what happened?

If we are going great, say top 6 in December, but the verdict goes against Barton, the sacking is neither terrible for Barton or Rovers. He would have done the promised manager job, turning us around, pointing us in right direction, blowing wind in our sails. Despite sacking him in that situation, it would still be a managerial success for Barton and for the people who appointed him. I think these extra months, giving Barton a window with more of a transfer and mentor free hand than we think Garner got, and as many games in charge as Garner, is extremely fair to Barton and his supporters. As a Gashead I am going to cheer every point we get next season, and as soon as we hit 55 celebrate safety. I know the greedy Dr Faustus disagree’s with me, but I advise all gasheads to join me in not being greedy in this coming season. League Two is a dirty bitch.

The way some people are treating this you'd think Barton was the victim, not Stendel. More fool them because he's playing them, just like he always has done.

I don't see how Joey Barton, who after the game may have accidently tripped up Herr SStendel when desperate for the changing room in need of a number 2. Its all just conjecture, the whole thing stinks, its definitely a case of foul play as the presumption of innocence is a legal principle that every person accussed of any crime is considered innocent until proven guilty If reasonable doubt remains the accused must be acquitted. Case Dismissed! UtG Would you give Barton the benefit of the doubt? He has form for this kind of cowardly attack. Its not a laughing matter, just as stubbing cigarettes out in people's eyes or attacking teenagers wasn't either. Its incredibly depressing to watch the club's fans degrade themselves by defending somebody who is an unrepentant thug and spiteful bully. He's already dragged the club's name through the mud and raised the prospect of further legal action by attacking previous managers. Its not even a Faustian pact, as he's a sh*t manager. The team last season was very poor, but they were outside of the relegation places when he arrived. By the time Joey had worked his magic, they were rock bottom. Its just laughable hearing him talking about how he hopes to recreate his 'success' at Fleetwood, Barton is utterly toxic and the sooner he is out of the club, the better. And the people who employed him (Starnes and Wael) can follow as well, because they decided to bring somebody of this calibre into the club. New kid on the the block or shown the red card by the snowflake gang?
1) On the balance of probabilities- guilty
2) Agreed it is very disappointing that the fan base is split down the middle.
3) Not his team, very unlucky along with poor officiating and no gas fans - We don't know if he can cut it as a manager He should get his 5/6 months before the next court case to show us what he has to offer- He might be bloody marvellous It is very much last chance saloon for Joey and he knows it.
4) With regards to Wael - have you got deep pockets? Sure he's made mistakes - who hasn't but I for one am very appreciative of his financial support throughout this Pandemic, without which I doubt this club would have survived.
UTG By the way - Welcome!

I just hope some people on here are never on jury service I think its impossible for some people to form an unbiased view, simply because its JB. Not a criticism, its just being a human being. What would peoples view be if it was exactly the same evidence but the name of the defendant was not J.Barton but say an ex Rovers person for example who had been popular in the past? Which is why they ask the questions to the prospective jury about whether they have heard of the defendant.

I think the the jury selection in November will not be easy. Yes the defendant being Joey Barton makes it hard, but there were also nearly two days of prosecution evidence which did not appear good for Joey.

If Darrell Clarke was found guilty of assaulting another manager after losing a football match I would be absolutely disgusted. Managers are figure heads for their Clubs and role models. If they are convicted of actual bodily harm against another manager - then they should be should be thrown out of football. Even if it was their first offence. End of.

So technically he hasnt commited any misconduct with our club. The club were very aware of his background when we employed him and I doubt there is much of a caveat to his contract to say we can terminate him for this. He also once kicked Sergio Aguero when playing for Newcastle, is that also a sackable offence at Bristol Rovers? I will add, I do not condone the alleged offence in any way and yes, if it is true, its a dispicable act of cowardice.

Do you still consider Joey Barton to be "Scum" as you posted on the other forum when this event occurred? Interested in your views if people are more forgiving as he is now a Rovers employee.
