I wouldn't be so quick to decide he'll be found not guilty. Today was only the opening statement. More detail to follow. Maybe only one person saw what happened. But video evidence apparently corroborates his view of events. And attacking from behind is apparently JB's favoured style so it's not hard to believe he deliberately ran down that tunnel with the intention of shoving Stendel in the back. Whether found guilty or not, he's definitely not innocent. He's a nasty piece of work who should be nowhere near this club imo. Innocent until proven guilty, though I see some have their minds made up. Let's see where the facts take the jury too, not biased conjecture, or hysteria about the past.

Ex-footballer Joey Barton caused serious facial injuries when he pushed over a rival manager after a tense 4-2 defeat, a court has heard.
Mr Barton, 38, boss of League One side Fleetwood at the time, is accused of chasing Daniel Stendel into the tunnel at Barnsley's Oakwell Stadium.
Once inside, Sheffield Crown Court heard, the defendant shoved the German in the back and caused him to tumble into the structure.
Mr Barton denies a charge of assault.
Prosecutor Ian Goldsack told jurors there had been tensions between the two sides when they met earlier in the season at Fleetwood, including a handshake that Mr Stendel "took to be an intimidatory gesture".
These tensions carried on into the match at Barnsley seven months later, the prosecutor said, and the defendant had confronted Mr Stendel both during the match and after the final whistle.
After the defeat, Mr Goldsack said, Mr Barton was "still very worked up" and used some foul language towards Mr Stendel, which he "did not fully understand but realised he was being insulted". As players and staff left the pitch, Mr Goldsack said, the defendant ran past a number of people and entered the tunnel behind Mr Stendel.
"Mr Stendel felt a push from behind and fell forward, hitting his face against that tunnel structure. He was knocked to the ground and when he looked up he saw the defendant passing him," he said.
"He believed him to be responsible for what happened."
He suggested the defendant's mood "was perhaps not helped" by the previous defeat, a player being sent off "just after it looked as though Fleetwood might get back in the game" and "provocative celebrations" upon Barnsley's third goal by first team coach Christopher Stern.
Jurors were shown photographs of Mr Stendel's injuries, the most serious of which included a dislodged upper right incisor and associated nerve damage.
They were also shown video footage of Mr Barton running into the tunnel behind Mr Stendel, followed by the structure shaking. Further footage showed a bloodied Mr Stendel being helped back to the changing room.
Mr Goldsack said jurors must decide "whether Mr Stendel fell forwards in that tunnel area, colliding with the tunnel structure and thereby sustaining those injuries, as the result of an unlawful assault and, if he did, whether it was Mr Barton who is responsible for that assault".
Earlier, 12 jurors were selected after being asked questions including "have you heard of Joey Barton?" and "do you have any opinions about Joey Barton?"
Potential jurors were also asked whether they were at the match or watched it on TV and also whether they were Barnsley or Fleetwood Town supporters.
The jury has been told that Mr Stendel will give evidence by video-link from Germany on Tuesday.

Mr Goldsack, the prosecutor, has begun by asking Stendel a number of questions relating to their first meeting as managers during a match in September 2018.
He asked Mr Stendel if he had any contact with Joey Barton following Barnsleyâs win at Fleetwood Townâs ground.
He replied by saying after the match Barton shook his hand firmly.
He added: âIt was a very firm handshake. It wasnât a normal handshake. It wasnât a friendly handshake, it was an aggressive handshake.â
Stendel said there was an âaggressive lookâ at the same time as the handshake
When asked by Mr Goldsack if he had any contact with Joey Barton before the reverse fixture at Oakwell Stadium on April 13, 2019, he replied ânoâ.
He told the court that during the game he was in his technical area which was situated âaround 10 metresâ from Bartonâs area.
Stendel described his behaviour throughout the match as ânormalâ - adding he is âemotionalâ and encourages his team.
Asked whether there had been any problems between him and Barton in the first half of the game, he said he did not recall any issues.
When asked about the second half he said: âWhen we scored a goal, Joey Barton seemed to be telling me we shouldnât be celebrating as exuberantly as we were.â
Stendel said he told Barton that he should go back to his own technical area.
Stendel told the court when they shook hands at the end of the game, Barton said some words in English that he did not understand.
He added: âI tried to get across to him but I didnât want to provoke him in any way, but I was only supporting my team.â
He said Bartonâs body language and words were âaggressiveâ.
Stendel confirmed he clapped the Barnsley fans and then headed towards the tunnel in the north stand of Oakwell Stadium.
He added: âI was pushed from behind. I fell into the iron railings.â
When asked if he knew what caused him to fall, he said no, stating that it was because he was pushed from behind.
Stendel told the court he was pushed on the upper body and pointed to his right shoulder.

I was going to come up with something smart ass about the holy trinity, but I thought - why not just have some more Gabrielle Drake. In 1965 the Daily Mail dubbed Stephen Bygott the âphilosopher of modâ. One of Stephenâs best quotes on the Virgin Mary âa birds a bird, whether she is swinging sixties bird or not.â I can hear the Crossroads theme calling. Dum dumdum dum dumdumdum - View AttachmentGabrielle Drake? Hell`s teeth, Emp Superbus, you really must have been around at the time Caesar was crossing the Rubicon. I can just about remember her in "The Brothers."

Judge explains decision
Judge Jeremy Richardson QC discharged the jury saying: âIt is just not right to struggle on.
âI became increasingly concerned that things are getting lost in translation.
âHe [Stendel] is a critical witness in this case. Itâs not fair to him and not fair to anyone in this case.â
Barton has been granted unconditional bail.

I wonder if Our Joey will agree.

Couldn't we just get to the bit where they line up the witnesses who saw the push, if indeed any such push occurred and if those witnesses exist, then get a decision from the jury, then move on to the next Rovers related disaster?

The media are going to love flogging the footage of charging Joey, tunnels quaking, blooded face. You can almost hear Jim on Sky Sports News saying âWell. Make your own mind up folks.â but presumably have to wait till the trial finishes to broadcast it.

I imagine JB wants this dealt with sooner than later and is probably pretty fed up with it. Itâs not nice to have such stuff hanging over you and also his silk will not be cheap. I wonder if he is paying for Csoka or someine else ?
