The training ground is a massive plus for the Rovers. Too right.
Interesting to see Salfords troubles getting a training ground, despite all their envestment in the team. Couldn't get hold of one, looked at a few options but nothing doing so still renting. A site with few fields with a basic area for a gym/clubhouse was enough for Gary Neville - "just something we can work with" but they still couldnt find anywhere.
The Quarters is a massive plus for Rovers going foward, something we have missed for decades.
Neville also mentioned that its a big thing for players nowadays, before signing they often want to know about training facilities.
Its an interesting watch - 'Class of 92' on Sky - available On Demand, the above was filmed about 9 months ago.

I know somebody who was interviewed for the managers job at Salford. Promotion within first season or contract terminated. Hard taskmasters indeed.

The training ground is a massive plus for Rovers. Ask any of the property qualified professionals in Bristol who identified the Colony and then bought it on behalf of Rovers opposing massive resistance from Hani Al Qadi who tried everything in the book to stop the acquisition. The answer Hamer, is it any wonder why the family slung him under a bus, he put the club first, look at the crap that the present owner has surrounded himself with now as so called directors, they couldn't open a tin of corned beef with out slashing their wrists. B*****'s trial in three weeks time could well be the final nail in the coffin along with outbreak of another equivalent 6 day war in the middle east that finally persuades the deluded who are funding the club that the long and winding road is a pointless exercise.

The Swiss flag is a big plus. The England flag is an even bigger plus. Yeah [he pronounced in an elongated way, preceding the inevitable 'but'], but the England flag doesn't really look like a plus. Call me a pedant, yes I can see it's similar, but the horizontal and vertical lines have got to be of equal length for a proper plus sign. :-)

The Swiss flag is a big plus. The England flag is an even bigger plus. Emily Thornbury doesn't agree.

This is not true. It's a load of PR nonsense from the club. Salford could build a training ground anytime they want one as there's no shortage of cheap land around Manchester that cannot be used for housing. But that's not what they want - their real owner wants to use the training ground project to open up a massive housing development so he can make a lot of money. That's why it didn't happen - there was a huge local backlash against both attempts they've made. Salford has nothing to do with football - it's to do with their owners desire to develop massive property investments in Manchester.

I am sure I would rather have a team that could win matches rather than a grass pitch that forever needs tending. We have yet to achieve the former and by the look of things we never will have - oh! and what happened to the new stadium we were promised? - Someone is being conned - could it be 'Rovers supporters? - yet again? ?

Was it Moss Side or something similar sounding where the locals were not keen? That was shown in an earlier series. They seem to be restricting their search just to the Salford area now- this was filmed in August ish time.

And that is why we have forever been floundering in the lower leagues. Lets just concentrate on the first team eh.
And when we do win a few matches we cant kick on - but at least we can maintain the comfortable status quo and try and have have a little bit of "influence"

When did we concentrate on the team ? I missed it. We never have and, after our B2B promotion, we never invested in it.

our wage bill has been pretty reasonable for League one.
I thought one of the gripes of some people were our annual operational losses, the vast majority of which would have been caused by the wage bill.
I guess we could cut that back drastically, and drop even further.
You never know, some people might want to carry WAQ down Glos Road to celebrate breaking even whilst finishing 10th in conference South

Nope - I'm thinking of the application in Trafford and the application in Chorlton (definitely not Mosside!). Both of which had housing developments attached to them and both of which attracted huge local opposition. In the same time period, Stockport and Rochdale have both opened new training facilities on the south side of Manchester (the more lucrative bit where Salford wanted to put a training groind despite note actually being anywhere near there). Difference was that Salford wanted a housing development and so weren't prepared to go to the cheap land round the outside. Honestly any club complaining that it's difficult to get land to put a training ground on in Greater Manchester is simply comical! Nearly every club in Greater Manchester has found somewhere new to do this in the last decade and most have far less money to play with than Salford do.

It was like if someone had tried to build a training ground/housing development in St Andrews Park - it was an attempt to strong arm the council into granting Mr Lim prime development land. That's all Salford really is - an attempt by Peter Lim to take advantage of development opportunities in Manchester through his connections with the United people. When you hear about 'Gary Neville's hotel development' etc? It's really about Lim's hotel development. They're just a PR operation for a development company - all that 'Class of 92' stuff is bulls***.

JCH apart, where did we bring in players that had the talent and guile, footballing nous, to push us on ? Wael put in place a blueprint that, in layman’s terms, said we will be a club that develops young players and sells them on for profit. Tell me I’m wrong fella We have had a disastrous time ever since, unloaded the players that made up the spine of the team, allowed contacts to run down and made a massive mistake. As for conference, be careful what you wish for. That is the very thing that i worry about most as I have zero confidence in going straight back up & see us in another relegation fight, I say fight but I believe it could be a whimper..again. Please outline a list of proven league one players that we bought in, that had potential to play at the next level. As for wages, any fool can spend money. Do you seriously think we spent wisely and with intent to push on ? I look forward to your reply. Just for clarity, I admire your loyalty and have no axe to grind with you. I just do not understand the backing of a hapless leader. I have no doubt, should we ever meet, face to face, we would be fine. My online persona is that of a person who questions failure. In reality I tend to just have a good time, when on a match day Take care
