Am I the only one struggling to understand what this thread is now about? I feel like I fell asleep in front of netflix and missed 3 crucial episodes. I've been trying to follow but I'm really stumped by some of the reference points and their apparent importance. Perhaps someone could kindly write a quick summary that addresses the following points;
-Even if true, why do any of the things that ITB has bought up in this thread really make much difference? I struggle to see anything that has been said here that would dramatically change my perspective on anything even if it was correct. It all seems quite mundane stuff on the whole. So what if GC begged for his job back or not for example? I don't see why that matters much to anything. Likewise I can't say I'm massively bothered about an ex-employee with a grudge sounding off on another forum; it's happened several times before. There's nothing of much substance there.
-Why is ITB getting so much criticism here? Given the above I don't really get why so many seem to be laying into ITB. I get that they are defending the board but others do too on here. Clearly this has something to do with what has been argued/revealed on another forum that I don't visit. So I find it a bit baffling.
-Why do some people think ITB is being bullied on this? I can't see that either - just strong views being exchanged and defended.
-Why has the marketing person become an important/interesting topic? Most people seem to agree that our problems are almost entirely structural so surely the impact of the marketing guy is going to be fairly marginal anyway. He might do some things better or some things worse. But, specific gripes notwithstanding, we could appoint whoever does the marketing for Man United and I can't see it would make a massive difference.
I'm clearly missing something here.
Confused of Manchester.

Threads have a life of their own Irish. Best to let it wash over you and go with the flow.
That said, like most soap operas, it doesn't matter if you miss a year's worth of episodes, you can soon catch up.

It looked like a statement of fact to me, so I'm sat here continuously refreshing, waiting for the evidence to be posted. Dont know about underhand activity at the turnstiles, but it was known (as the club put it out) that people were claiming their paper season tickets in the past were lost and getting replacements and selling them on at x price. At least ST cards can be easily cancelled

I’m sure there was a barbed reference to other alleged things but the old balaclava emoji comes out. As always, everything I say could be wrong

No he did not! What he said was that he had seen the same thing as me, which was people collecting money from supporters queuing by turnstiles. Neither he nor I have suggested that anybody entered without paying or that any of the people collecting the cash didn't pass every single penny on correctly. What we were saying was that it's a highly irregular method of collecting payment. I also asked whether or not this method of collecting payment met all of the applicable regulations. If you want to accuse someone of something just go ahead and do it.

Garner claiming in today's pre-match interview he can see the goals coming soon, this after we didn't even force the Sunderland goalie to make a single save of note, you do have wonder to what game Garner's actually watching. Our only hope tomorrow is Shrewsbury are in even worse form than us at the moment.

I read everything you said, carefully. You seem to think that those Bing-Bong boxes have removed some 'perks', it's only you who has even suggested 'underhand activity'. Sounds like you have an agenda but don't have the balls to just come out and say what's troubling you. All comes across as a bit spiteful, vindictive, yet still limp wristed to me.

I see that we've been a basket case for many matches and he keeps making the same kind of mistakes. But hey, go 4-3-3 because he got the badges and maybe it'll work after 16 matches, 3 managers and 5 years.....yep I can certainly see something coming alright.

Sounds like you have an agenda but don't have the balls to just come out and say what's troubling you. All comes across as a bit spiteful, vindictive, yet still limp wristed to me. Everyone's got an agenda, it seems. Generally an accusation made just because an opposing point is made. My only agenda is to support the long term existence and betterment of the club.
I said that the code readers were a deterrent to underhand activity. I'll be more direct. The club were concerned that revenue was being lost because too many people were getting into the ground without directly paying for a ticket. The code readers (or bing bong machines as you call them) directly link a ticket sold to an entry to the ground. Although this is currently short of the fully automated entry to many other grounds, it provides a cross check to each turnstile rotation.
I don't think it is only me that even suggested 'underhand activity'.
... kingswood Polak said: As I am a pay on the day supporter, I have seen this cash thing happen several times and the cash going into the privately sub contracted stewards pockets. I’m not saying the kept it but I didn’t look good.
Bamber Gasgroin said: Happy to be corrected, but I thought that there were regulations around how payment was collected from attendees at football matches. If that's the case, I would be just staggered if 'Some geezer in a Hi-Viz' walking up and down a line asking who has paid and who hasn't, then shoving the cash in his pocket, fully satisfied all of the criteria
kingswood Polak said:
All I can say is that I have seen it happen. I can’t tell you what happened to it. I have seen it happen on 2 occasions
...
I really can't see who I am being spiteful or vindictive to. Perhaps you could let me know who my words are affecting in that way and I'll be happy to apologise to them.
By the way, what do you mean by limp wristed?

All lovely, except that's just a load of words backtracking. I've already laid it out for you in detail, both KP and myself feel it's unusual for people to collect cash from supporters whilst they are queuing, but it's only you who has so far mentioned 'underhand activity', so clearly you have something on your mind. I'm still not even sure what you think has happened. In fact, KP made the effort to clarify that although cash had gone in to peoples' pockets, he wasn't accusing anybody of anything. It's for you to clarify who you think is responsible and for what, not me, but being limp wristed, you don't seem prepared to do it. That's a shame, because, like you, I don't want to see the club losing out.

It is not for me to clarify anything more, as I'm not going to accuse any individual. However, I've been very specific that the club were concerned about the loss of revenue through the potential for people to gain entry without paying (the club) and took measures to correct that. Efforts that you have belittled, for a reason I don't understand.
I won't convince you, so won't engage any more. Still, I'm not sure what you mean by the term limp wristed?

You've moved from using words such as 'perks' and 'underhand activity' to trying to hide behind things that the FC may have said. You just sound like a stirrer who has bottled it when called out. I've never belittled intentions to improve any aspect of Rovers, with the Bing-Bong Boxes it's the quality of the hardware and the implementation that I moan on endlessly about, mainly because it's a wasted opportunity. But I'm glad that you are happy with an unreliable system that doesn't capture customer data.

But I'm glad that you are happy with an unreliable system that doesn't capture customer data. Bamber, you of all people accusing me of being a stirrer. Over 7,000 posts and it is difficult to remember any positive suggestion that you have made about anything.
I don't see how you have 'called me out'. I stand by the assertion that there have been too many people taking advantage of the club for too many years through 'perks' and many of these have been removed under the current regime.
Where did I say that I was happy with an unreliable system? If you actually read my words, I consistently said the card readers were a deterrent to underhand activity. Could they be improved? Yes, like a lot of things at the club, but they are an improvement on what was in place previously, in my opinion.
You neglected to say who I was being spiteful or vindictive to.
You still haven't clarified your meaning by repeatedly calling me limp wristed.
Would you like to answer those two points?

Should he have said "no way are we going to score any goals"? What do you think he should have said ? Well. No, no way are going to score any goals. There's something wrong in the changing room, and I just don't see this bunch of lads under my management scoring, let alone winning, while I persevere asking players recruited for 3-5-2 hoofball to play a 4-3-3 tippitappy, which let's be honest, has been tried at this football club by greater managers than me already. Moreover, I've never managed at this level before, I'm principally a coach, and nobody knows whether I've got it in me, least of all me. I looked at that Gas Guzzler today, and duck me if they don't half of them think me no good at all. The goodwill only lasts so long, and you've got to ask yourself how long I can get away with only having won a single game. Still, hopefully my predecessor was so very boring and so very unlikeable that my own efforts, however misguided, may be appreciated enough for them to give this barmy experiment of mine until next season. God knows I've blown this one. For now, we're bloody useless, and it'll take some time to sort this mess out. Don't expect goals or wins from me, but come down anyway because my heart's in the right place. I'm in.

I did chuckle at that Shoveler!. If fans voted with their feet under Coughlan, I do wonder what the incentive is to go today?, two horrendously out of form clubs with nothing to play for. And 4-3-3 Experimental again.
