Won 2-0 today Doc but they have struggled recently with injuries. Gary Warren (why didn't Trolls sign him) joined them on loan from Exeter City and helped them improve results before being recalled. Thank you. I guess the new WISE manager will be happy with today.

When GC quit in surrender, I was happy to promote from within to the post. I had no confidence in the 'board' recuiting from without.
For similar reasons, I'm going to stick my neck out and say this.
I'm going for saintly patience. I hope they don't sack BG.

Am I the only one struggling to understand what this thread is now about? I feel like I fell asleep in front of netflix and missed 3 crucial episodes. I've been trying to follow but I'm really stumped by some of the reference points and their apparent importance. Perhaps someone could kindly write a quick summary that addresses the following points;
-Even if true, why do any of the things that ITB has bought up in this thread really make much difference? I struggle to see anything that has been said here that would dramatically change my perspective on anything even if it was correct. It all seems quite mundane stuff on the whole. So what if GC begged for his job back or not for example? I don't see why that matters much to anything. Likewise I can't say I'm massively bothered about an ex-employee with a grudge sounding off on another forum; it's happened several times before. There's nothing of much substance there.
-Why is ITB getting so much criticism here? Given the above I don't really get why so many seem to be laying into ITB. I get that they are defending the board but others do too on here. Clearly this has something to do with what has been argued/revealed on another forum that I don't visit. So I find it a bit baffling.
-Why do some people think ITB is being bullied on this? I can't see that either - just strong views being exchanged and defended.
-Why has the marketing person become an important/interesting topic? Most people seem to agree that our problems are almost entirely structural so surely the impact of the marketing guy is going to be fairly marginal anyway. He might do some things better or some things worse. But, specific gripes notwithstanding, we could appoint whoever does the marketing for Man United and I can't see it would make a massive difference.
I'm clearly missing something here.
Confused of Manchester.
Not sure if I can help you Irish but for me the clue is in the OP made on January 9th which dismisses our home defeat to EFL bottom club Stevenage as irrelevant. This sums up the worrying propensity for Gasheads to sweep things under the carpet at the first sign of trouble. Another illustration of how we prefer to shy away from reality is the way threads are quickly steered off topic when difficult subjects come up. On gaschat this usually takes the form of smutty humor and on here we tend to get into the kind of arguments which you describe. It is a pity we can’t or won’t go deeper into what is wrong with the club because until we do I don’t think we’ll prosper, even if we have new owners, because IMO fans can drive the agenda by, as you’ve said before, acting as a pressure group. On the specific subject of Tom Gorringe and marketing I think it is relevant because it is a symptom of how we as fans interact with “the club”. Tom has clearly brought things up to date in many ways and introduced initiatives which were long overdue. But there is always room for improvement and the problem with sitting back with the attitude “it’s a lot better than it used to be” is that it is not motivating Tom to do better. Even worse is saying critics should be grateful for small mercies and stop moaning and being disloyal because that smacks of us thinking of ourselves as a religious cult with an infallible hierarchy ! When Bamber highlights the failings he sees I think it is because he wants Rovers to do better rather than any dislike of Tom. But when ITB defends Tom I think it’s more out of the default position of defending Rovers rather than an objective appraisal of Toms performance. In the cold light of day the performance of the Commercial Operation is measured by how much net profit it contributes to the club. On Toms LinkedIn page there is a long list of his achievements at Brighton and Cardiff but nothing about what he is doing at Rovers. We can see some of his work at the ground and on social media and only last week there was a meeting about match day experience attended by 30 or 40 people. But surely there must be more than this ? If the marketing department is truly making serious progress both financially and in improving the image of the club then we should hear about it, And if, when we do, there is some criticism and suggestion for improvement then Tom and the club should be confident enough to fight back or acknowledge and deal with it. My concern is that once again, as in the Nick Higgs era, we are suffering because there is absolutely no confidence anywhere in the club.

Better player than Byron Antony in my opinion and as I think their respective careers proved. Would have been a terrific CH for us. Definitely one we missed out on. Didn’t realise he was at Exeter and Torquay

My concern is that once again, as in the Nick Higgs era, we are suffering because there is absolutely no confidenc anywhere in the club. I take your point if GC had still been in charge, we would have beaten Steveange as he had instilled in the team a winning mentality irrespective of the importance of the competition. I was not trying to sweep matters under the carpet, I was simply trying to give the new guy a chance to prove himself. At the time he had only been in the job a couple of weeks and already he was getting stick from some quarters. He had sent Nichols on his way and there was a perception that the football was in patches more pleasing to the eye, so it seemed reasonable to give him a decent run of matches to see if he could deliver. Yesterday, well before the game started I walked around the ground and what struck me was the amount of ancillary club staff members going about their business in a very professional manner. This is something that would normally pass me by, i accept there has been some fairly decent initiatives/improvements fantastic pitch, much improved club shop, up to date ticketing, development squad, new bar etc. You mention that nobody takes on what is wrong with the club, we all know what's wrong the club, the buck stops at the top, myself and many other forum members have stated time and again that broken promises, fake news and zero communication in particular regarding the new Training facilities and the New Stadium is the reason this club is in meltdown. Going back to BG situation, yesterday was arguably one of the worst ever Gas performance I have ever witnessed , the team are not playing for him and absolutely no noticeable improvement since 9th January. Sorry BG your times up. UTFG /STB
