No excuse needed to boycott a cup that has been hijacked and manipulated by the clueless clowns who "run" football in this country.

No. You think that makes you worthier than the rest of us: we get the message. I can't say I'm that fussed.
Enjoy your evening: think of it as a convention of the pure, refreshingly free of being crowded out by normal people. Maybe take a deckchair to sit on on the terrace.
BTW if you contact Reading FC they'll probably give you a full list of their academy's fixtures that you can go and watch.

Unfair o p as next Tuesday is a matter of principle.
I would still be doing this even if trophy fixtures were reversed.
This trophy format has to be boycotted in order preserve the integrity of what the competition was set up for, so I know what I'm doing with my hard earned instead..

On a completely unrelated note, anyone know if it is it possible to choose to block particular posters so I don't have to read their posts?

Do have fun watching Reading Youths in the Joke trophy won't you. I hope the experience gives you that holier than holy feeling, that seems to be so badly craved.
Fortunately my 'Superfan' credentials are currently gleaming, following some proper away day graft, acquired over a long painful career following our beloved club. So 90mins watching us entertain Berkshire Under 15's is far from required at this point.
Congratulations on also being an accessory to the continued downfall (and probable destruction) of the Football League.
Best wishes.
The Dude.

Didn't see you at Hartlepool away on a Tuesday night last season Mike?
Have a wonderful evening watching Reading FC's kids though.

On one hand there's the argument that even though the FC voted against the proposals for the EFL Trophy, once the motion was passed we're obliged to take part and so we should all support the team.
However, OP, can't you see why people are boycotting this game? If we all cheeringly turn up and support this competition in our thousands then the Administrators have won - the changes would be deemed a glorious success and they'd say there's a great demand for matches against Academy teams. Next step? League 3.
Surely the best way to make it clear this is something that proper supporters don't want is to send a LOUD and CLEAR message that we won't tolerate is to actively protest. It's not a slight against the team or club, in fact it's exactly the opposite - an action to protect it's longer term interests.
Rather than feeling superior by attending, perhaps have a long hard think about the damage that validating the presence of Academy teams (and not even elite Premiership Academies - this is READING B FFS!) will have on the longer term prospects of our club. Personally I think those usual die-hard regulars taking the moral choice NOT to attend on principle are the REAL 'superfans' here - not those that do choose to legitimise the competition.
I won't knock those that do attend - its a personal choice for them - but don't knock those that choose not to either!

Yes, click on their username and then click onto the cog type thing and block. Makes this a much nicer place when you do it, if someone raises your hackles. You then get a choice to read or not when they post, the post is there but not shown, you then choose

How are the Reading academy side doing Mike? You've obviously got a fascination for their academy side so for those of us without this fascination could you let us know what we'll be missing when we boycott the match to protect the integrity of the Football League? Appreciate that you don't care about that integrity but each to their own personal choice, wouldn't you say?

As you might expect Shadow Williams former Reading youth scout tells me they are a tidy side BUT to be brutally honest I prefer watching Rovers first team, Development side and Under 18s more....actually tell me what integrity is there within professional football. You sound half knowledgeable would love to know. See you at Wembley
