Your thinking is correct on both links, albeit maybe a bit overly complex in one case.

Right connection, wrong four (3 right) Second: right connection, wrong four (3 right) Third: ish connection, wrong four (2 right) fourth: wrong connection. Kinda academic and surreal, but 1 'right'). This is probably the key to solving it as it's the (only) four clubs which....

Don't have any better ideas for the others, yet!

It's actually 'league clubs, relegated to the conference, but now back in the league (possibly stronger than before, thereby proving there can be life after gross incompetence if you stop arseing about)'. [ the bit in brackets is optional ] if that helps.

oxford, crewe, exeter, halifax = only teams with X Correct!I thought it was quite a well known trivia question, albeit maybe from before 'the curse of x' kicked in and three of them subsequently dropped out of the league. edit on remembering: the original trivia question was 'which are the five.....?' and the answer included Wrexham. The curse of x has hit 80% of them. So far....

Line 1 CorrectLine 2 correct connection, 3 right Line 3 correct connection, 3 right Line 4 ? 2 'right' Unique names: Preston, Plymouth, Spurs, Villa. Teams in Division Four in 1973/74 when Rovers finished in second place in Division Three: Cambridge, Exeter, Colchester, Crewe. Unique names: Correct! For the other, I was going to say 'damn, not what's on the card, but I think you're right', got a nagging doubt on account of thinking Cambridge were generally quite successful back then, checked, and they were in div 3! So 'no'. First and last ever case of self doubt for me!
