You're thinking of Les, Eric, Derek and Woody!!!
They would have done better than the Scots that McGhee did sign for us (Gary, Derek, David, Jim). They certainly scored more often.....

Here are my 4 connected things that haven't been done:
Crystal Palace, Concord Rangers, Southport,...(Could add Leicester City)
Edgar Davids, Leonardo, Duncan Edwards,... (could add Carl Regan or Fabian Broghammer)

Edgar Davids, Leonardo, Duncan Edwards,... (could add Carl Regan or Fabian Broghammer) Not finding the answer on Wikipedia...but it does show that Regan and Broghammer share a birthday! (Not the same date as the other three though).

Here are my 4 connected things that haven't been done: Crystal Palace, Concord Rangers, Southport,...(Could add Leicester City) Edgar Davids, Leonardo, Duncan Edwards,... (could add Carl Regan or Fabian Broghammer) Aaaaarrrgggghhhhhhhh! This has been going round my brain non-stop for over 18 hours, and all I can come up with is: Crystal Palace, Concord Rangers, Southport,...(Could add Leicester City).
All nicknames are related to sand. Southport (Sandgrounders), Concord Rangers (Beach Boys), Crystal Palace (used to be called the Glaziers and glass manufacture uses sand), Leicester are the Foxes....one type of fox is the Desert Fox...deserts have sand in them. So the final connection is to another sand-related nickname...e.g. Canvey Island (Islanders). Edgar Davids, Leonardo, Duncan Edwards,... (could add Carl Regan or Fabian Broghammer)
All names contain the two-letter combination "ar"....[until you added the Broghammer clue ]. So the missing link is someone with "ar" in their name. John Ward? :-) I'm only posting this in the hope that it will draw out another clue from you!

Their names are characters in plays by Shakespeare.

Thanks Dido - If I was going to leave out the "W" I'd prefer my name to be associated with Taylor Momsen.
You and she are both fine singers (assuming you are the singer rather than the erstwhile Queen of Carthage).
