I feel quite relaxed about the final. My feelings on are 1,yes happy we've made it thus far,it's a real achievement and 2 the European and World Championships do not always produce the best team in the competition,so a level headed approach may be in order.
I feel England are in the worlds top ten and that's just dandy.
Until world travel is super quick eg England to Australia in 5 minutes,we won't be able to have a true international league competition that would give us the best team.
I think England have a great chance of beating Spain, even though the Spanish have looked the best team in the competition so far.
I predicted, on this thread, England would become Champions,so I'll stick with that.
England 2 Spain 0.

Beaten by the better side. Spain pass well, move off the ball well and all done at a quick tempo. They close the opposition down well too.
We managed to give em a game and fair play for that.
Our equaliser was lovely.Spains winner was deadly and brilliant. I rarely watch top football what I've seen of it I've enjoyed. Made a nice change.
I think Englands relitive success in the big two tournaments can continue.
Spain deserved European Champions.

But yes ,when ....s d when they do go at the opposition they do cause problems, Spain looked very nervy after conceding, but then England's possession let them off the hook..and Walker x 2 went missing..

Yeh the Spanish looked concerned when we did attack. I wonder if GS will step down and if so who is our next Boss.

Only a few players come out of the tournament with their reputations enhanced. Palmer, Stones and Guehl perhaps, but Bellingham, Foden, Saka and Kane have been poor to average, at best.
If I was Real Madrid, I would also have major concerns about Bellingham's attitude. Bayern will also have learned that Kane consistently falls short when it matters, although they should already have been aware of this. Southgate needs to move on. He has done a reasonable job but has consistently come up short whenever we play a genuinely top team.

Agree with all that bar Saka who I thought was one of the few players who exhibited real skill and effort. Kane has probably played his last game for England and hopefully, it was Southgate's last game as manager. As for Bellingham, one wonder goal but contributed virtually nothing else throughout the tournament. England eh? Disappointing their fans since 1966.

Disappointing their fans since 1966.I think England weren't really the second best team in the tournament, possibly Germany were but they got knocked out by Spain too. We probably had a easier route than many of the other teams. France and Belgium didn't play well either to be honest. Did anyone honestly think they would beat Spain? Like really honestly? I agree with the observations of the players with mega price tags, Bellingham is really arrogant and probably needs knocking down a few pegs. Kane scores mostly from being in the right place at the right time but as he's got older he's a few minutes late. I've noticed that in the past with England, Rooney kept getting capped when he was years past his best.

Bayern disappointed with losing league but in Kane, nah! Southgate - reasonable job? Apart from Ramsey, who the media hated as well, who has a better record for England on semi-finals and finals please? You sound like West Ham fans when Allardyce took them to their highest position for years, and wanted rid because he didn't play the West Ham way.... And Stoke fans after Pulis took them back to the top flight and kept them there, but didn't play exciting enough football. League 1 was beckoning for them last season! Southgate has done well even if you don't like his football. England have been disappointing since 1966 and those frailties are never far away.

I've noticed that in the past with England, Rooney kept getting capped when he was years past his best. It was similar in WC2002, when an appalling Germany side made the final. We aren't that bad but I really don't think we are as good as we think we are. Bellingham has a big career ahead of him but needs to realise you are only as good as your last performance and that your talking needs to be done on the pitch. Kane isn't mentally strong enough for me and doesn't have a winner's mentality. Rooney had an appalling record in ECs and WCs finals.

My opinion.
Kyle Walker has to be replaced. Went missing too often and was positionally at fault for both Spanish goals. Trippier. I have nothing against him personally and he was only playing where he was asked to play. But Ben Chilwell and Dennis Mitchell must have been wondering how on earth Southgate thinks Trippier is a better left back than either of them. Failure to take another natural left footed left back was a ridiculous decision by Southgate. It unbalanced the whole team. No threat down the left side with Foden coming inside too often....and with Trippier at left back. Shaw improved things in that department, but he alone could not provide any threat down the left. Foden flatters to deceive, however I think we must keep him. Rice . Had a very poor tournament. Caught in possession too often, dropped too deep and his passing was wayward when under pressure. He always looked panicky. Kane - We all love him, however he was probably the worst of the lot. No movement, no hold-up play, dropped too deep, didn't get involved, don't think he won a single header as he appears to have lost the ability to jump. Southgate seemed to be blinded by loyalty. Playing Trippier at right wing-back when Alexander-Arnold was on the bench was criminal. In fact, not having Alexander-Arnold on the pitch was criminal. Palmer changed things whenever he came on. Why oh why did he not start a single game! Mainoo - Did well but tended to tire after 50 mins.

Glad you mentioned "Walker went missing" as he was so far out the guy was having a coffee waiting for someone to challenge him!! Spain were the better team, but with a bit more zest in the team they were there to be challenged a lot more, as shown after the equaliser, but it is what it is, some will have to realise their time for English up, young players are there and possibly a bit more eager with a more open play style coach

'There is plenty of high-fives and back slapping as vice-captain Kyle Walker leads Manchester City team-mates John Stones and Phil Foden off the plane.' Losing mentality. If you celebrate being second-best, you won't ever come first. This is probably the most effort Kane put in over in the entire tournament. Doesn't have the drive, guts and determination to be a really top player.

Aside from the goal against the Swiss, doesn't seem to have the game impact that a really top player should.

Southgate has done well even if you don't like his football. England have been disappointing since 1966 and those frailties are never far away. Kane will score a hat-trick of penalties against Schalke 04 and then go missing for the next game against Real Madrid in the European Cup final. He has consistently gone missing in big game throughout his career. Southgate has been extremely fortunate in terms of the draw in the 2018 WC and both ECs, and has been fortunate to be managing at a team when the level and quality of international football has considerably fallen. When it has mattered, he has consistently come up short against the better teams (his record against top 10 sides is abysmal), and the quality and standard of the football played has regressed under his leadership. The FA sacking Hoddle and replacing him with Kev Keegan and his 'enthusiasm' and 'desire' was for me the biggest step back over the last 30 years.
