Joseph brought some decent players to Rovers on loan and within a couple of years after their loans had finished,we managed to get a couple on fixed deals.
Jarrel Quansah. When was the last time a player left Rovers, from a loan or fixed deal and made the England squad so soon?
I recall Gary Mabbut played for England very soon after leaving and signing for Tottenham Hotspur.

I watched Mabbut play I think his last game for us away at the Vetch where he got a bit of a roasting from an ageing but still ‘solid’ Tommy Smith. I think they were talking about him turning out for England even whilst he was still with us but then as Bas says Tottenham came calling.

I remember being annoyed GM had'nt played for England while still a Rovers player because it really was just a few games at Spurs and there he was, playing for England. It really looked like a case of 'we could'nt possibly have a Bristol Rovers player representing England'.

Plymouth Argyle captain Joe Edwards linked with Bristol Rovers move..By James Piercy, Sports Editor. i2-prod.plymouthherald.co.uk/sport/football/article9265801.ece/ALTERNATES/s810/0_040524-edwards.jpgPlymouth Argyle captain Joe Edwards could be on the verge of a move to League One outfit Bristol Rovers. The Gas previously tried to secure the seasoned defender during the January transfer window, and are reportedly set to reignite their interest. Edwards is a legend at Home Park, and his status further elevated by his performances towards the end of last season when he scored the crucial winning goal in the final game of 2023/24 against Hull City, ensuring their Championship survival. However, the 33-year-old almost left the Pilgrims in the previous transfer window after falling out of favour with former head coach Ian Foster. Rovers boss Matt Taylor was eager to bring him back to Bristol, where Edwards began his professional career at Ashton Gate.

Former Portsmouth skipper a transfer target for a host of EFL clubs - including Bristol Rovers and Stockport County..by Mark McMahon.i2-prod.hampshirelive.news/sport/football/article5656895.ece/ALTERNATES/s1200e/0_image2jpeg.jpgFormer Pompey captain Clark Robertson has a host of EFL clubs in pursuit of his signature this summer. After helping FC Ashdod maintain their Israeli Premier League status, the defender looks set to return to the UK upon the expiry of his current one-year deal with the Port City side. And it appears the 30-year-old won’t be short of offers, with the Daily Record claiming Bristol Rovers, Stockport County and MK Dons are in competition to land the Scot during the forthcoming transfer window. Robertson, who fled Israel in October before returning to the country to complete the 2023-24 season, is believed to be mulling over the offers put to him before deciding where his next move takes him. The former Blackpool and Rotherham centre-back moved abroad last summer after being told his Fratton Park contract would not be renewed. Robertson spent two seasons at PO4, after being signed by Danny Cowley on a free transfer, and made 57 appearances for the club. He skippered the Blues during both seasons, helping Pompey secure 10th and eighth-placed finishes in League One. Robertson was one of eight players let go by the Blues in the summer of 2023 as sporting director Richard Hughes and head coach John Mousinho set about creating a squad that could deliver a return to the Championship. Both Bristol Rovers and Stockport County will compete in next season’s League One, while MK Dons remain a League Two side. If Robertson opts for a move to Stockport - who won this season’s League Two title - he’ll be reunited with former Fratton Park team-mate Jay Mingi after he agreed terms on a three-year deal with the Edgeley Park side at the weekend. He’ll now officially leave Colchester United when the transfer window opens on June 14th.

No news of any signings, but the 2024/25 training gear range is available from the club shop apparently, you've got to move fast in the clothing game otherwise stuff doesn't fit you anymore.

I read this news that the training merchandise is now in the shop, with a weariness ,that led to a lethargy I can only describe as numb. I'm afraid the feeling we've entered a 'dark age' is still with me.

As far as Rovers not signing any players yet,we're in the same boat as the majority of 3rd tier clubs.

Good luck Lewis. He improved as a player under our stewardship, but not quite good enough to hold down a regular berth in L1. I think he should do well at Chesterfield. He has his faults but does have pace, energy, gets stuck and can get forward, say’s I, one of his more regular critics!.

What an absolute shambles this club has become since Bartons departure. Finished better league position despite a poor run on the final month of the season. As Taylor intimated the Barton Boys pretty much gave up hence his reason for selecting all the loanees.

But surely it's Taylors job to inspire and motivate those players that have given up.I know he hasn't been here long but I see no qualities in him that give me cause for optimism next season.
