What an absolute shambles this club has become since Bartons departure. It was already a shambles under Barton. Just look at the handling of the PR around JB's court case. I had always quite liked the idea of 'rag bag' Rovers, seeing it as a happy contrast to the polished corporate turd across the river. However, under JB it became offensive to see just how badly the club was being run, including JB trivialising the Holocaust, verbally assaulting LT in the media, and openly joking about his past history of violence. The off-field stuff under JB, which Wael and others at the club must also take responsibility, made an utter mockery of the notion we had become a more 'professional' outfit under JB's omniscient gaze. By the end, it was clear that he and his staff had effectively disengaged and 'clocked off', with this being reiterated by the way in which he signed off - a Tweet dispatched from his West London home, to be seized upon and devoured by his adoring groupies.

Is Brandon Aguilera returning on loan just a rumour? Plus are Ipswich Town selling Elkan Baggott? Can we afford
Our first signing last season was apparently not announced until the 23rd June ?

What an absolute shambles this club has become since Bartons departure. Been a shambles for years before he came. He was only good at spending money, which we now have to balance up, as he did while at Fleetwood

Joseph brought some decent players to Rovers on loan and within a couple of years after their loans had finished,we managed to get a couple on fixed deals. Jarrel Quansah. When was the last time a player left Rovers, from a loan or fixed deal and made the England squad so soon? I recall Gary Mabbut played for England very soon after leaving and signing for Tottenham Hotspur. Surely not trying to take credit for a LFC player ?

I don't think we can take the credit for his inclusion in the England squad but he has been quite vocal on what he learnt in his time with us. He was surprised at the physicality of the League and he does credit his time with us for toughening him up and making him a bit more street wise.

Bristol Rovers close to making ex-Bristol City defender Taylor Moore their first summer signing..by Daniel Hargraves.
i2-prod.bristolpost.co.uk/incoming/article9331555.ece/ALTERNATES/s810/0_GettyImages-1333571355.jpgBristol Rovers are closing in on a deal to sign former Bristol City centre-back Taylor Moore on a free transfer after his departure from French second division side Valenciennes, Bristol Live understands, which will make the versatile defender their first signing of the summer transfer window. The 27-year-old was released by the Robins in May 2023 having made 60 appearances over the course of a seven-year stay which also included loan spells at Bury, Cheltenham Town, Southend United, Blackpool, Hearts and Shrewsbury Town. Moore then made the move to France having lived there as a boy, coming through the youth ranks at RC Lens. Born in Walthamstow in East London before moving abroad, the defender went on to make 10 senior appearances for Lens, four of which in Ligue 1, before returning to his homeland in 2016 when signing for City in a deal that was believed to be in excess of £1million. The Englishman has over 100 appearances at League One level having most recently played in the English third tier for Shrewsbury in the 2022/23 season, during which he played 42 of the Salops' 46 league games including both against the Gas. He also has six caps for England at Under-20s level. Moore then returned to France last summer, signing a three-year deal with Valenciennes and made 22 appearances but left in April as they eventually finished bottom of Ligue 2, the French second tier. Although predominantly a centre-back, the 27-year-old has shown versatility in the past by also being able to play right-back and was also known to play in midfield when at Shrewsbury. Moore is expected to become Rovers' first signing of the summer transfer window and adds necessary depth and quality to Matt Taylor's options at the back, particularly after the departures of loanees Elkan Baggott and Tristan Crama back to Ipswich Town and Brentford respectively as well as Josh Grant's release with the 25-year-old often playing in defence last term. upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/5/5e/Taylor_Moore_BCFC.jpg/220px-Taylor_Moore_BCFC.jpgTaylor didn't rule out the idea of exploring the possibility of bringing back some of the Gas' six loanees from last season back to the club this summer but also admitted that Rovers would have to be respectful of the players' respective situations at their parent clubs first. Assuming the deal is completed, Moore will compete with Connor Taylor, James Wilson and James Connolly as the club's current options at centre-back. The addition is expected to be the first of many over the course of the summer after 13 players left the club at the end of last season. Having joined in December, this is Taylor's first summer transfer window in charge in BS7 and will offer him the opportunity to sculpt his squad in his vision ahead of the 2024/25 League One campaign. Kamil Conteh's arrival in January was the first permanent signing of the 42-year-old's reign while loan deals for Baggott, Brandon Aguilera and Harry Vaughan were also struck. However, Moore's arrival will be the first signing since the announcement of the club's new-look recruitment structure which saw George Friend retire from playing to become Director of Football while former Chief Scout Chris Spendlove was made Head of Recruitment.

I watched FC Paris vs Valenciennes (3-1) back in April 19th. Damn, must have just missed him. Valenciennes were pretty awful. The standard of tier two in France looks more like the bottom end of tier three in England. Also caught Red Star Paris clinch the tier three title. Etoile rouge! Etoile Rouge!

He's played for a couple of decent FCs but it is'nt long before he's loaned out ( for experience?) or dropped into the reserves. As I said, looks 3rd tier standard 🤞 but would need to improve to be good enough for 2nd tier. Hopefully do a job for us as they say.

Good to hear Conteh played for Sierra Leone in a World Cup qualifier the other day.
Decent player.
I hope Taylor does'nt spoil things for our midfield players by ordering his defenders to belt the ball forwards.
I'm afraid he might.

Former Bristol Rovers academy prospect Jordan Iwhiwhu is to sign for Luton Town after been released by Bristol Rovers..By Daniel Hargraves.

Former Bristol Rovers academy forward Jordan Iwhiwhu is set to sign a professional contract at Championship club Luton Town. This comes just a couple of months after being released by the Gas. Iwhiwhu, and his younger brother Excel, joined the Rovers youth setup in March 2022 but was released by the Gas earlier this year with his brother still part of the academy. The 17-year-old, who attended Sir Thomas Rich's School in Gloucester, then studied at SGS College as part of the football programme under the watch of former Leeds United manager Dave Hockaday and also played fro Stoke Gifford United FC. During his time at SGS, he also represented Fulham Under-18s making his debut against Norwich City in March. Iwhiwhu also scored four goals in one game against Luton, with the Hatters now poised to take the forward on a two-and-a-half year deal ahead of the Cottagers.

Bristol Rovers: Signings stagnant and still haven't announced their first signing of the summer but that is expected to change soon..By Daniel Hargraves.
i2-prod.bristolpost.co.uk/incoming/article9341855.ece/ALTERNATES/s810/0_GettyImages-1247482785.jpg Taylor Moore during his time at Shrewsbury TownAlthough very little has been officially announced by Bristol Rovers yet, it's not time to panic just yet with the start of the season still just under two months away. Of course, there's never reassurance from the fact that other clubs are starting to demonstrate activity in the transfer market when your club still hasn't made a signing in a summer where a considerable turnover is going to be needed but the fact that it's still early days must be stressed. It's not just player turnover that's expected at Rovers either with Jamie McAllister's departure from the club making it three coaches to leave over the course of the summer so far while Head of Data and Analysis Adam Mahoney has also left, becoming Assistant Head of Recruitment at Huddersfield Town. Come September there are expected to be a considerable amount of new faces. However, things are expected to start getting busier at the Gas over the coming weeks as the transfer window officially opens and pre-season begins in a couple of weeks. By then you would imagine, or at least hope, that a few signings have been completed by then. There will also be the football fix that comes with the Euros so hopefully the next few weeks bring plenty of positivity. Although activity on the pitch for Rovers doesn't start for a while yet, off the pitch there has still been a fair bit of activity relating to the club, starting with a transfer update as to why a signing still hasn't been confirmed... After last weekend's report revealing that Bristol Rovers were closing in on signing former Bristol City centre-back Taylor Moore, fans may be starting to get concerned regarding why the deal hasn't been officially confirmed yet. Well, as is customary for this time of year, it appears as though holidays have delayed proceedings slightly but nothing has changed regarding Rovers' position. The expectation is still very much that Moore will become a Gas player but supporters may well have to wait until beyond this week before an official confirmation is published. Elsewhere, Bristol Live understands that Rovers are still keen on bringing in Joe Edwards and Miguel Freckleton among a number of other players. Edwards captained Plymouth Argyle to Championship survival last season with the winning goal against Hull City on the final day with the versatile midfielder able to play at right-back which could prove to be particularly useful. At 33 he would also add some needed experience. Gloucester-born Edwards is also based in Bristol and is entering his final year at Home Park. i2-prod.bristolpost.co.uk/incoming/article9341742.ece/ALTERNATES/s1200e/0_GettyImages-1912957230.jpgJoe Edwards in action for Plymouth ArgyleWayne Rooney has recently been appointed as Argyle's new boss which could affect the midfielder's position at Plymouth and how frequently he's expected to play. As for Freckleton, the former Rovers academy player made 19 appearances for Chesterfield on loan from Sheffield United last term as the Spireites stormed to promotion from the National League. Born in Bristol, the 20-year-old centre-back is set to be out of contract at Bramall Lane at the end of this month and is understood to be weighing up his options. It is understood that the young defender, who attended SGS College while playing for Mangotsfield United when a teenager, is subject to interest from an array of clubs but still hasn't officially said yes or no to the fresh terms offered by Sheffield United.

Bristol Rovers are believed to be close to agreeing a deal for goalkeeper Cameron Dawson..By Daniel Hargravesi2-prod.bristolpost.co.uk/incoming/article9356786.ece/ALTERNATES/s1176b/0_GettyImages-1576549174.jpgAs previously reported, Bristol Live understands that Bristol Rovers are in talks with Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Cameron Dawson and are confident that they can get a deal over the line. If completed, the move would see the 28-year-old reunited with former manager Matt Taylor for whom he was first choice on loan at Exeter City in their League Two promotion season in 2021/22, playing 45 of the Grecians' 46 league games. It would also see the conclusion of a 12-year association with Wednesday, having come through the academy in S6, during which Dawson has gone on to make 129 senior appearances for the Owls with 83 of those coming in the Championship. During his time at Hillsborough, the goalkeeper earned himself a League One promotion, helping Wednesday to success in the League One play-offs just over a year ago before spending the majority of last term as second choice.

I knew a bloke called Powerpoint Prickadiggle.
It wasn't till the nineties that people started commenting on his first name rather than his surname.
He never ate bread pudding of a Sunday and was prone to claiming that he once spent seven minutes in a cinema queue.
