For starters I think we should check out JCH.He'll be 29 or 30 at the start of next season, hardly an old bloke. He may still fancy moving to the West and playing for Rovers.
Would love to see Jordan Rossitter signed.
It sounds highly unlikely, but Harvey Vale with us again would be fantastic.
Another GK too.Apparently Cheltenhams man ,Luke Southwood will be available.
Just to start the ball rolling...

Looks like we’re going to have to replace a large number once the dust of this season has settled. I hope George Friend and his team are already planning a long list of potential signings and hope that whoever we sign he have a balanced squad come August. In previous years we’ve got in keepers, defenders and midfielders but stopped at signing strikers. We went down in ‘21 because we didn’t complete the recruitment and this season we didn’t sign strikers either. I don’t count Chris M as a planned signing it was more a panic signing once we realised we had no strikers. It’s worked out and but for him it could have been another relegation battle. We need all areas strengthened I think esp a couple of midfielders and at least two strikers. Perhaps a keeper and. CH. Given that 12 players are out of contract I guess we will be replacing around that number in total. Or do we go for fewer yet increase the quality of who we get? Time will tell.

Concerning a goal scoring striker Wareham,JCH may be hoping we make a move for his signature. Concerning. A board with little experience of football. A new top scout in George Freind.Etc. Let's sign JCH and immediately give our chances for next season a lift. Proven goal scorers are not easy to find and we may be in with a good chance of quickly signing one! In the scenario we make a move.

I don't want to write George Friend off but once again we are going for the let's go cheap and hope option. It may well do but as above a board with little experience, a head scout with little experience in that role and a manager who is yet to convince with what sounds to be a smaller budget. I'm not excited.

Starting from bottom up, the top goal-scorers in each team from league 2 are:
24th - FGR - Matt Stevens - 10 goals in 30 23rd - Sutton - Harry Smith - 13 in 40 22nd - Colchester - Joe Taylor - 12 in 27 21st - Grimsby - Danny Rose - 15 in 41 20th - Salford - Matt Smith - 25 in 49 19th - Swindon - Daniel Kemp - 16 in 27 18th - Accrington - Jack Nolan - 15 in 47 17th - Newport - Will Evans - 24 in 51 16th - Morecambe - Michael Mellon - 15 in 26 15th - Tranmere - Rob Apter - 13 in 37 14th - Notts Co - Macaulay Langstaff - 29 in 47 13th - Harrowgate - George Thomson - 17 in 46 12th - Wimbledon - Ali Al Hamadi - 16 in 27 11th - Gillingham - Connor Mahoney - 7 in 40 10th - Bradford - Andy Cook - 16 in 42 9th - Walsall - Isaac Hutchinson - 12 in 50 8th - Doncaster - Joe Ironside - 20 in 47 ................................................ 7th - Crawley - Danilo Orsi - 20 in 45 6th - Barrow - Ben Whitfield - 10 in 36 5th - Crewe - Elliott Nevitt - 17 in 46 4th - MK Dons - Max Dean - 16 in 29 ............................................... 3rd - Wrexham - Paul Mullin - 25 in 41 2nd - Mansfield - Davis Keillor-Dunn - 22 in 50 1st - Stockport - Isaac Olaofe - 20 in 46
Teams that are not promoted or in the play-off places still have a goal-scorer in a struggling or mid-table team.
Surely those players we could check out to see if they can be brought into our league above them set up.
Every team relegated or in the lower halfs have a couple of decent players, BTW: Chris Martin has 16 in 37...

It may well do but as above a board with little experience, a head scout with little experience in that role and a manager who is yet to convince with what sounds to be a smaller budget. I'm not excited. Perhaps but we’re a lower league side and I would suggest that it’s in these leagues that people start out whether it’s as a player, manager or other position. Some call it choosing the cheap option I would say it’s the natural order of football. Most, if not all, of our successful managers have failed before they got to us or we were their first post. He may well be in his first position as DOF but I’d suggest GF has a wide experience of football, has played in the north and in the midlands and will likely have many, many contacts. And being a personable young DOF I bet he has a lot of goodwill from his contacts. It’s not a problem imo. Saying we’re going for the ‘cheap option’ is an easy argument to make and a kind of stereotypical response. All DOF or Head of recruitment have to start somewhere and I’d say in the lower leagues is ok. Of course there are never any guarantees in football whether a manager /DOF /HOR or any post. We have to hope that people are a good fit to BRFC. I’m not overly excited but given that the owners have little experience they are at least ensuring that the football side of the club does have people with a level of experience. This charge was levelled at them in the Autumn and they have done something about it. Not sure they can do much more at this stage. I travel in hope! 😉 UTG!

Bas. With us last summer and Charlton in Jan JCH, or his agent, priced him out of a move. The fact he is on a free you can see his agent looking for a signing bonus as well as a very hood wage.
That could be a large chunk of the budget spent on one player with no resale value.
In my opinion not worth it.
You still think he's the answer?

A goal scorer, that might want to come to Rovers, would certainly ease my concern. JCH would probably score 15 to 25 goals with us.It would see us stay up,at least. We apparently had the dosh to buy him and maybe he would be less expensive this time. He might be there, within our grasp ,in the next few weeks. Let's not be a FC without a decent goalscorer because some will and almost inevitably they'll struggle. In short,we need goals because we might not be a very good team.

I would like to see Ollie Clarke back,in fact I didnt want him to leave. Obviously strikers, but proven goalscorers at this level might be too expensive, need to scout league 2 and non league. The defence...a centre half but we will have to see who goes first and which positions need to be filled.
Another complete overhaul...how many times is that in the last few years ? virtually every manager seems to do it then get sacked.

[b I'm an Ollie admirer Trymer, gets stuck in,can pass, shoot and has a good engine. He's just won promotion to the 3rd tier with The Stags,so I imagine he's happy enough at Mansfield. We may have Rossitter, Evans,Ward and Conteh,so middle midfield might not be a priority. Then again,Sam Finley has gone ,so if Ollie replaced Sam I would'nt complain.

I'm tired of complete overhauls. I hope we sign some who can grow with us, and fight to be picked, with a bit of hunger, and a future in years not months.

Will Evans is a good shout and from bt’s list I think Matt Stevens from FGR was a very good player before his bad injury. I’m not sure he’s recovered but his return this year looks ok in a struggling team. I’d add Kieron Bowie (forward) and Marc Leonard (midfielder) who’ve been on loan at Northampton from Fulham for two years as possible players who may strengthen us. And of course however much we may like players, in the end it’s just as important that they want to join us and some players may prefer areas other than the south west of England. Perhaps we have to offer larger wages to attract the players we want. Time will tell. UTG!

With your money, maybe, but you're spending as much of your time on a Rovers message board as I am. I might go more often, were it more exciting, but I tend to go when circumstances and geography occasionally allow. I can't imagine withholding support entirely* because I was bored by the lack of marquee signings. This is Bristol Rovers! *22nd February 2021 was the only time I did.

I don't know if Devante Rodney can play the piano DrJD,but he has a physical presence, good link up player and can score goals. Could well be an MT target.
