Hammers agree deal for Bayern Munich's Mazraoui..ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/624/cpsprodpb/db87/live/4c46d690-4a98-11ef-b7e5-29f47be8e120.jpgWest Ham have agreed a fee with Bayern Munich for Moroccan full-back Noussair Mazraoui. Sources say if the deal goes through, the Hammers will play an initial €16m (£13.47m) for the 26-year-old, with a potential further €3.5m (£2.95m) in add-ons. Talks over personal terms are continuing for a player who has been linked with a number of clubs this summer, including Manchester United. Mazraoui was born in the Netherlands and joined Ajax as a youngster. He joined Bayern on a free transfer in 2022 and made 29 appearances for the Bundesliga giants in all competitions last season.

Brentford's plans to let West Ham and Tottenham target Ivan Toney leave the club could be shelved after the 28-year-old England forward's replacement Igor Thiago suffered an injury in pre-season. West Ham have made a £30m bid and offered 18-year-old midfielder Lewis Orford in a move to sign Aston Villa and Colombia striker Jhon Duran, 20. Nottingham Forest have rejected a West Ham bid for 23-year-old Wales full-back Neco Williams.

'A lot to improve' - Julen Lopetegui on West Ham defeat - Wolves 3-1 West Hamichef.bbci.co.uk/news/800/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2024/7/29/47c8ff8d-ad1a-4669-9e17-8d5bc872b998.jpgNew West Ham manager Julen Lopetegui's side suffered a 3-1 defeat at the hands of former club Wolves in their pre-season friendly in Jacksonville, Florida. In a match that was delayed because of stormy weather, Matheus Cunha put Wolves in front before having to go off injured. Mohammed Kudus equalised for the Hammers just before half-time, but two goals from Rodrigo Gomes after the break gave Wolves the win. Lopetgui has replaced David Moyes as West Ham boss, and said the Hammers "have to improve in a lot of things with and without the ball". He added: "We have a lot of work to do in front of us."

Here are some of your comments:
Jay: I think this is a fantastic signing! With Coufal getting a little older this is a great piece of business. He’s a good player and he's more than confident to get a motion moving. Joe: After losing Ben Johnson it's good West Ham are looking at quality competition for Coufal. Terry: By all accounts he does not stay fit for a long period of time. So it looks like we've bought another 'sicknote'. Jamie: I love the fact that we are competing with Manchester United for signings nowadays and winning the contracts. We’ve come a long way Hammers! Adam: Good pedigree, still young, plays in a position where we need reinforcements, and the fee seems reasonable by today's standards. He's played in some very good teams and shone on big stages. Potentially the backlash to his stance on Israel-Palestine made his time at Bayern less than comfortable, which may be why he's available relatively cheap. Justin: A veritable bargain in today’s market. looks to be on par with Mavropanos at this point. Obviously younger and possibly more skilled on the ball, my view is based on fleeting glimpses of his club appearances and are not in any way expert. However a signing from bigger club because we can and not because they are well past their best is positive.

West Ham are willing to meet AS Monaco's 35m euros (£29.5m) price tag for 25-year old French midfielder Youssouf Fofana. "I have been thinking about West Ham for a long time now - I know the technical director Tim Steidten very well, because we have history at Werder Bremen together, and I have watched some games and seen how much quality there is in the team," said the 31-year-old, following his £27m move from Borussia Dortmund. "The chance to play under the head coach [Julen Lopetegui] is also really exciting. His playing style is important for me, and I am confident that under him I will be able to perform at my best, and score lots of goals. "I love being close to supporters, and I’m really looking forward to meeting the West Ham fans. I have a very good feeling at the moment – I’m strong, fit and in shape – and I just want to get out there and start playing for them."

West Ham complete deal for Leeds forward Crysencio Summerville..i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/08/03/20/88123363-13705889-image-a-1_1722712500709.jpgWest Ham have signed Dutch forward Crysencio Summerville from Leeds for a fee in excess of £25m plus add-ons. The 22-year-old has agreed a five-year deal at London Stadium with the option of a further year. "It's the perfect next step for my career," said Summerville. "I'm here to help write more history and I'd love to help West Ham get back into Europe." He made 89 appearances and scored 25 goals in all competitions for Leeds after joining them from Feyenoord in a £1.3m transfer in 2020. The Hammers have been linked with numerous players this summer as technical director Tim Steidten attempts to strengthen Julen Lopetegui’s squad. However, Summerville - last term's Championship Player of the Year - emerged as one of their primary targets. "I spoke to the head coach and he convinced me that I could make an impact, and help achieve success in the new season," he added. "I had the feeling that this is the best place for me to continue developing as a player, and to push my potential as much as possible." i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/08/03/20/88123367-13705889-image-m-5_1722712555634.jpg

Here are some of your comments:
Dave: He’s a young man who is quick and skilful. Hopefully he’ll be a good asset to the team, provided he’s played in the correct position. Tony: This is a fantastic signing. We’ve had a void on the left of midfield for a while now. He’s still only 22-years-old and hopefully we will see him flourish. Darren: I feel this is a great signing similar to Jarrod Bowen from the Championship. He should go from strength to strength. Ahmed: We need to sign strikers. £25m is a lot of money for someone who is unproven. But then someone who is proven would cost five times that amount so, probably worth the gamble. He could team up well with and also learn from the more experienced Niclas Fullkrug. Joe: Summerville looks such an exciting signing, reminds me of when we got Bowen when he was making waves at Hull. If he can have the same impact, we will be onto a winner! Andy: As a Hammers fan living in Leeds, I know how much the Leeds fans loved Summerville, and with good reason. Having seen a lot of Leeds matches last season, I commented that I would love to see West Ham sign him in the summer, as his pace, willingness to drive at defenders, and his creativity are exactly what we need much more of. Good luck to him.

Here are some of your comments:
Harry: Going to be very solid and consistent. He will play very well off of Paqueta, Bowen, Summerville and Kudus. I can't wait!! Adrian: If the fee really is £27m it’s a terrible deal for a player who is nearly 32. Joe: He's a player who's played at the very top level#. West Ham haven't had the best luck with strikers but if he shows a good work ethic on the pitch like Antonio and Bowen, the fans will adore him. Fingers crossed he's not another Haller/Scamacca. Adam: He’s unfashionable in a way - big, loves crosses and isn't a twinkle-toes 19-year old. But every time I’ve seen him he’s looked dangerous… and usually scores! £27m for a 31-year-old seems mad but I think we could get a couple of big seasons out of him. Kris: Not the signing I'm sure a lot of us were hoping for - a young, pacey striker to lead the line - but considering the wing threat and crossing ability from set piece that we have, this could be a decent signing. Let's see how many times we see "Goal - Fullkrug, Assist - Ward-Prowse" pop up in match reports this season. Jimbo: He’s a big, horrible target man so a throw back to the likes of David Cross. We’ve been a bit lightweight at times so he’s a perfect fit for the new chapter!

Wan-Bissaka is open to joining West Ham, but has no huge desire to leave United and is refusing to sell himself short. The 26-year-old has less than 12 months left on his contract at Old Trafford. And he could bank a huge signing-on fee by staying put and leaving on a free transfer next summer. Wan-Bissaka's representatives are pushing for United to give the player a chunk of the £18m fee they will receive from West Ham in order to get the deal done this summer.

West Ham have signed Argentina midfielder Guido Rodriguez on a free transfer after the expiry of his contract at Real Betis.i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/08/06/16/88221919-0-image-a-1_1722957953721.jpgRodriguez, 30, started his career with hometown club River Plate before spells in Mexico with Tijuana and Club America. He was part of the Argentina squad that won the 2022 World Cup and the Copa America in 2019 and 2024. "I'm very happy to be here," he said on joining the Hammers. "I feel like it's every footballer's dream to play in the Premier League and I was very excited when I heard that West Ham were interested in me. "It's a historic club that has a really interesting project. I think it's the right club for me, at the right time, and I hope together we can keep growing. I spoke to Edson [Alvarez] before signing and we're both really looking forward to working together again." Technical director Tim Steidten added: "This is a massive moment for West Ham United in bringing a player of Guido's pedigree to the club. He is a player I have admired for a long time and we couldn't be happier to have completed the deal. "Guido is a defensive midfielder whose intelligence in and out of possession is a real strength to his game. He is also a proven winner, having won the World Cup, Copa America and Finalissima with Argentina, so to have secured his services is a big statement of intent by the club."

West Ham captain Kurt Zouma closing in on move to UAE..by Simon Stone, Chief football news reporter.i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/08/08/13/88306501-13723415-image-a-31_1723119404374.jpgWest Ham United captain Kurt Zouma is closing in on a move to the United Arab Emirates. Zouma has been in talks with Dubai-based Shabab Al-Ahli and a deal is expected to be sealed in the coming days. The 29-year-old has one year left on his deal at London Stadium and is one of the Hammers' highest earners. Zouma has made more than 100 appearances for West Ham since a £29m move from Chelsea in 2021 and started the Europa Conference League final victory over Fiorentina in 2023. The Frenchman was named club captain at the start of last season following the departure of Declan Rice to Arsenal. In 2022 he was ordered to carry out 180 hours of community service after pleading guilty to kicking and slapping his cat. West Ham have spent more than £100m so far this summer following the appointment of Julen Lopetegui as manager. Max Kilman, the former Wolves captain, has joined in a £40m deal alongside moves for Dutch forward Crysencio Summerville, Germany striker Niclas Fullkrug, Brazilian midfielder Luis Guilherme and Argentina midfielder Guido Rodriguez.

West Ham United sign Man Utd defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka for £15m..i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incoming/article33452892.ece/ALTERNATES/s1200d/0_AWB.jpgWest Ham United have signed defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Manchester United for £15m. The 26-year-old has penned a seven-year deal with the Hammers. Wan-Bissaka left Crystal Palace for Manchester United in a £50m move in 2019 and scored two goals in 190 appearances for the Red Devils. The defender is West Ham's eighth signing of the summer, joining Jean-Clair Todibo, Crysencio Summerville, Luis Guilherme, Niclas Fullkrug, Wes Foderingham, Max Kilman and Guido Rodriguez in moving to London Stadium. "It was a no brainer for me to join West Ham - I'm excited and happy to be here," said Wan-Bissaka. "I can't wait to get on the pitch, get to know the players, and push on from there. "I see a team that is in it together, that will push each other to win, and a group that has got each others' backs through thick and thin, so being part of that and having that insurance helps a lot when you are surrounded by a good squad." Wan-Bissaka, who was born in London, added it was an "amazing feeling" to return to the capital. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer signed Wan-Bissaka when he was Manchester United manager in 2019 and the defender was first choice until the Norwegian's departure in 2021. Wan-Bissaka lost his regular starting position after Erik ten Hag's appointment in 2022, although he still managed 64 appearances under the Dutchman in the past two seasons. United's move for Bayern Munich full-back Noussair Mazraoui was contingent on Wan-Bissaka joining the Hammers and the Red Devils now expect to complete the signing of the Morocco international. West Ham begin their 2024-25 Premier League campaign against Aston Villa on 17th August.

West Ham United 1-2 Aston Villa: What Julen Lopetegui said:i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/08/18/23/88659817-13755629-Julen_Lopetegui_could_only_watch_on_as_West_Ham_conceded_inside_-m-9_1724019435786.jpgJulen Lopetegui spoke to BBC Radio 5 Live after West Ham's defeat to Aston Villa: "We took some good chances and we deserved to win. "I think that is football and sometimes these chances go in and sometimes not. We kept creating chances and pushing. We are very happy. "The substitutes made a massive difference. I think we had a bit of a dip at that point and the manager made the changes at the right time. The three off them combined for that goal. We have some great players and we are ready to perform." 'There are a lot of new players but a lot of them arrived late,' Lopetegui said. 'We have players who are not ready to play 90 minutes.' On season ambitions: "We will have to wait and see because it is only the first game. We have a lot of ambition and we want to build on that. We want to be the best we can be."

Here are some of your comments:
West Ham fans
Admeus: Pretty much what I expected. New manager, new players, different style of play. It will take a couple of games to establish and gel into a team. At least there was a lot less 'Chuckle Brothers' football (left/right, to you/to me, back) and we were defending higher and looking to attack more. Signs are good for improvement. Jimbo: Disappointing performance. The biggest disappointment was the starting XI and formation. It might have been Moyes in charge. I hoped for something better and different, but it was the same old dross. Dave: It's too easy to be critical but this is a new team, a new manager and new tactics - so it's going to take some time to get things right. However, it was a poor first-half performance and, though there were flashes of individual brilliance, we are still not playing as a team. Patience is the word. But that is something that is in short supply these days.

Crystal Palace 0-2 West Ham: Soucek and Bowen get Lopetegui off the mark..Matthew Howarth, BBC Sport journalisti.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/08/24/16/88890751-13776183-image-a-1_1724514052224.jpgWest Ham were perhaps a little unfortunate to lose at home to Aston Villa last weekend, but Lady Luck was on their side at Selhurst Park as Crystal Palace squandered several opportunities to establish a first-half lead. Eberechi Eze and Odsonne Edouard both failed to find the net with only Hammers goalkeeper Alphonse Areola to beat, while the former also struck the woodwork with a magnificent curling strike late in the first half. Despite going close early on through Michail Antonio and Mohammed Kudus, West Ham failed to register a shot on target until midway through the second period, when Tomas Soucek latched onto a loose ball and beat Dean Henderson with a low drive. Soucek and Jarrod Bowen deserve huge credit for coming to the aid of a Crystal Palace ball boy, who had become trapped under an advertising board as the travelling fans rushed forward to celebrate the game's opening goal. The Czech Republic midfielder lifted up the board and Bowen grabbed the youngster, who was unharmed, back to his feet. It was Bowen who put the seal on a satisfactory afternoon for the Hammers five minutes later, finishing low into the corner for his first of the campaign - and his first-ever goal against Palace. Manager Julen Lopetegui will be delighted after watching his side claim their first win of the season, but there is plenty of room for improvement too. i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/08/24/16/88890763-13776183-image-a-2_1724514088996.jpg

West Ham manager Julen Lopetegui has been speaking to BBC Match of the Day following the win: "A lot of things [were key]. The first thing is to compete - we were able to compete and be resilient. They have only lost to Manchester City at home [under Oliver Glasner], so we knew it would be difficult. "When you win, you need to be balanced. We have to improve and we have a lot to do. It is always important to be able to score goals, but it doesn't matter who scores. Sometimes we suffer, but this is the Premier League. You always play against big teams. "We are happy with the commitment of the players on the pitch and on the bench. There are a lot of players who are able to help you on the bench, so I'm happy they were able to help. I'm happy for all of them." On West Ham's first clean sheet since January: "Clean sheets are key to be able to win matches. Sometimes we are going to suffer, but clean sheets will always help you to be closer to winning matches."

We asked for your thoughts after Saturday's Premier League game between Crystal Palace and West Ham.
Here are some of your comments:
West Ham fans
Mark: Julen Lopetegui's style of posterior football is refreshing and it is giving West Ham fans more enthusiasm. With the new signings, we will soon start to see more positive results. After a hard game against Aston Villa and now an easy trip to Crystal Palace, it looks like we have a great chance of achieving what we deserve this year. Dave: It was all a bit frantic I thought. I'm really pleased to get the win and that Kilman and Wan-Bissaka contributed brilliantly to the goals, but there is still room for improvement, particularly in possession. We still give the ball away too often and we never really had control of this match until we scored. Simon: Aaron Wan-Bissaka made an instant impact after coming on and he really seemed to liven things up. It is still too early to tell what the new manager will do, but a clean sheet is always welcome. Chris: Good for Tomas Soucek making it difficult for the new manager to drop him. Everyone wrote him off as unsuitable for the new system. He probably isn't the best fit in reality but he gives his best every time he gets on the pitch, which makes all the difference. i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/08/24/17/88890761-13776183-image-a-16_1724516590411.jpg
