Declan Rice: Arsenal reach agreement to sign West Ham midfielder in £105m deal..By Simon Stone, BBC Sport.ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/1414C/production/_130225228_gettyimages-1258515356.jpgArsenal have agreed a deal worth £105m to sign West Ham's England midfielder Declan Rice. Talks are continuing between the clubs over how the deal will be structured for the 24-year-old. It follows a third bid from the Gunners, having previously had two bids rejected after falling short of the £100m West Ham want. Earlier, Manchester City, who had a £90m offer for Rice rejected on Tuesday, withdrew from the running. Hammers captain Rice has been at the club since joining their academy from Chelsea in 2014. Earlier this month he led them to Europa Conference League victory, their first major trophy in 43 years. His contract at London Stadium was due to expire in 2024. Arsenal's bid is comprised of an initial £100m plus £5m in add-ons. The initial fee equals the British record Manchester City paid for midfielder Jack Grealish. Earlier this month, England midfielder Jude Bellingham signed for Real Madrid for an initial £88.5m, although that deal could reach £115m if add-ons are activated. The Premier League's most expensive signing is the 121m euro (£107m) transfer fee that Chelsea paid Benfica for Argentina midfielder Enzo Fernandez in January. Following the club's Europa Conference League victory over Fiorentina, chairman David Sullivan said he was "99%" sure Rice would leave West Ham this summer. Rice has scored 15 goals in 245 games for West Ham, having made his debut in the 2016-17 season after coming through the academy. He has been capped 43 times by England, playing in all five of their matches at last winter's World Cup.

ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/800/cpsprodpb/578a/live/89317f30-1112-11ee-816c-eb33efffe2a0.pngWe asked you which player you would sell this summer and which player you would buy.
Here's who you picked:Matthew: I’m afraid I’ve got to go with Declan [Rice]. He’s been an absolute legend for West Ham, but it seems he wants to go somewhere else and play Champions League football. As a replacement, I would choose Joao Palhinha from Fulham as he got the most interceptions in the league and plays in almost the exact same position. Jay: One player I would sell: Gianluca Scamacca. I would replace him by bringing in Jonathan David from Lille. He's very much in West Ham's mould - strong, quick and a goalscorer, which we very much need! James: Sell: Michail Antonio. He wanted to leave in January anyway. Buy: Viktor Gyokeres. He's an exciting prospect at only 25 years old. Tom: It pains me to say it... but Scamacca out and Harvey Barnes in. It's not a one-for-one replacement, but it allows us more creativity in the wide areas and it might allow Jarrod Bowen to play through the middle? Joshua: Sell Danny Ings. Buy Barnes and/or James Ward-Prowse. We asked for your views on West Ham's 2023-24 fixtures after they were released on Thursday morning.
Here are some of your comments:Ian: It's vital that we get off to a better start than we did last year as we never really recovered. Three of the last four games look awkward but I am still hoping for a massive West Ham season. Tim: Nice to head to the seaside in August so Bournemouth away is perfect! Stuart: Not bad. Could be a tricky Christmas period and tough set of fixtures in May, but a lot will depend on Europe and us dealing with the Thursday/Sunday games and player rotation. David Moyes' West Ham side are European Conference League champions, with victory over Fiorentina bringing their long wait for a major trophy to an end.
We asked what you made of the performance and what winning the trophy means to you and here are some of your thoughts:Kevin: Absolutely brilliant. I have followed West Ham for 58 years and this is the best moment in all that time. Please stay, Declan. Claire: As a West Ham fan, watching David Moyes putting the winner's medal around his dad's neck finished me off. West Ham have always prided themselves on being a family club and the first thing our manager did was celebrate with his dad. The pride on his dad's face - a man who's supported his son for all of his 87 years - absolutely priceless. Simon: Fortune is always hiding when you’re a West Ham fan, but our first trophy win since I was a teenager in such a dramatic fashion makes it all worthwhile. William: I have supported West Ham for the best part of 60 years. To see them win a European trophy for the first time since 1965 is so, so special. What a night! Dan: I'm a 42-year-old West Ham fan, having never won anything despite being close. I watched the final with my eight-year-old lad! It meant everything- I know it’s only football but over land and sea, West Ham are massive! My boy now thinks we’ll win things often - he also thinks England do well in tournaments as that’s his experience. I won’t tell him yet! Helen: Being a West Ham supporter since 1966, we certainly have had more downs than ups. I remember the 1975 and 1980 FA Cup finals, then the 1981 League Cup final, which I went to with my boyfriend, a Red Man, and watched the 2006 cup final in a Liverpool pub. Yesterday, I watched the match on my phone while on holiday. Well done, lads. Great!

ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/800/cpsprodpb/78bb/live/7cffd4d0-1597-11ee-8cae-4785e93eadf1.pngWe asked you which young player is ready to break through at West Ham.
Here are your thoughts:
Tom: Divin Mubama began to prove himself at the end of last season and got some first-team games. He looks like a real finisher, very excited to see what he can show us. Charlie: I think Ben Johnson should be able to be in the starting XI next year. I really rate him and I would love to see him playing. Ian: Winning the league and FA Youth Cup double, West Ham have some really exciting talents coming through their ranks. The one that appears to be ahead of the group is the young striker Divin Mubama, who scored in Europe and made a couple of cameo appearances in the league last year. A prolific striker with work rate. Expect him to make his mark now. Harry: Four promising players I would love to see break through to the first team are Oliver Scarles, Armstrong Okoflex, Gideon Kodua and of course Divin Mubama. I’ve watched these guys play and their mentality, skill and professionalism is very exciting to watch. The next level is playing with the big boys and really hope they get a chance to do it and become heroes like Rice.

West Ham appoint Tim Steidten from Bayer Leverkusen as technical director..ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/0E34/production/_130263630_gettyimages-1138468606.jpgWest Ham have appointed German Tim Steidten as technical director following success in a similar role in the Bundesliga with Bayer Leverkusen. The club said the 44-year-old, who will be responsible for West Ham's player recruitment strategy, is known for his data-led approach to scouting. He will work alongside manager David Moyes and sporting director Mark Noble. "Tim's appointment is key to our wider plans to drive our football strategy forward," said chairman David Sullivan. West Ham are set to lose captain Declan Rice to Arsenal in a £105m deal as they prepare for a third successive season in European competition. They qualified for the Europa League with victory in the Europa Conference League - the club's first trophy since winning the 1980 FA Cup - but will aim to improve on their 14th-place finish in the Premier League. Steidten said: "There is already a fantastic team in place [at West Ham], but also so much ambition - from the board, the manager, his staff and the players - to continue succeeding, developing and growing. I cannot wait to play a key part in that." Leverkusen have finished consistently in the top six in the Bundesliga since Steidten's arrival from Werder Bremen in 2019. West Ham said his "data-led approach" to scouting had helped find a number of "unheralded gems" for the club, while Moyes praised his "strong track record in elite level football".

Looks like the long saga has finally come to an end...Goodbye and good luck to Declan Riceichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/1440/cpsprodpb/C091/production/_130379294_declanrice.jpgBBC Sport understands Arsenal will complete the signing of 24-year-old West Ham and England midfielder Declan Rice for £105m today. The transfer from West Ham was agreed last month but first negotiations over the structure of the deal, then the time taken to go through the legalities, means it still has not been formally approved. ichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/624/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2023/7/13/9be820c8-8cef-425d-b222-033846cd77c9.jpgOn Thursday, Sky Sports were reporting that Arsenal’s lawyers were holding up the deal. It stands to be the most expensive deal for a British player. Arsenal's bid is an initial £100m plus £5m in add-ons, and the initial fee equals the British record Manchester City paid for midfielder Jack Grealish. ichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/624/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2023/7/13/cc4f4147-3e58-4f6b-9f5d-dbdf769dd6fb.jpgTotal Career Stats Are: Age 24, Played 314, Goals 20, Clubs: West Ham United, Republic of Ireland, ROI U16, 17, 19, 21 & England. ichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/624/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2023/7/14/092e4e02-04e7-499b-8f66-01fb80091c23.jpgichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/624/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2023/7/14/b13d1b89-4f20-43cf-94ac-dff77e53b3e6.jpg

West Ham interested in signing Manchester United defender Harry Maguire..By Simon Stone, BBC Sport.
ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/7827/production/_130395703_gettyimages-1474620556.jpg Harry Maguire played in 175 games for Manchester UnitedWest Ham are interested in signing Manchester United defender Harry Maguire. The 30-year-old England defender has an uncertain future at Old Trafford as Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez have emerged as Erik ten Hag's first-choice centre-backs. Maguire revealed on Sunday that he had been stripped of the captaincy at Old Trafford, saying he is "extremely disappointed" to have lost the armband after three and a half years. Maguire's contract runs to 2025. United also need to sell players to boost Ten Hag's chances of reshaping his squad in the current transfer window as he closes in on Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana. The centre-back arrived at United from Leicester City for £80m in 2019, but is known to be among the players Ten Hag would now sell if a suitable offer came in. Maguire is mindful of needing to play regularly next season before Euro 2024 in Germany next summer. However, he is known to be happy at Old Trafford and is proud of his status as captain. In addition, after overcoming a number of injury issues last term, Maguire feels he will play a full part in United's season. West Ham manager David Moyes is keen to make additions to his squad following the sale of skipper Declan Rice, which could generate £105m. Moyes is interested in Ajax's Mexican midfielder Edson Alvarez as a possible replacement for Rice, but Maguire would be a useful addition at the back, where both members of West Ham's first-choice pairing - Kurt Zouma and Nayed Aguerd - suffered injury issues last season.
