Tottenham suspend Yves Bissouma after laughing gas video..i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/08/12/01/88422905-13733865-image-a-35_1723421339796.jpgTottenham have suspended Yves Bissouma for their Premier League game at Leicester City on Monday after footage appeared to show the midfielder inhaling laughing gas. Spurs have made the move despite the 27-year-old apologising for a "severe lack of judgement", having posted a video of himself on social media on Saturday which showed him inhaling from a balloon. Possession of nitrous oxide - also known as laughing gas or NOS - for recreational use has been a criminal offence in the United Kingdom since 2023 and can result in a two-year prison sentence. "We've suspended him from Monday's game," said Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou. "Beyond that, there's also some trust-building that needs to happen between Biss and me, as well as Biss and the group. That's what he needs to work hard at from now on - to try to win that back. He's going to have to earn that. "The door is open for him and, hopefully, we can help him realise the decisions he makes impacts more than just him. "Hopefully, it allows him to make better decisions moving forward." i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/08/15/13/88560919-13746709-image-a-16_1723726107500.jpgPossession of laughing gas with an intent to use recreationally was made illegal in the UK last year. Bissouma, who joined Tottenham from Brighton for £30m in 2022, played for 45 minutes in Spurs' friendly defeat against Bayern Munich on Saturday afternoon, before posting the video. "I've been in the game for a long time and every time a situation like this arises, I've tried to look at them in a couple of different ways," said Postecoglou. "One is, there's a person involved and, in this case, it's Biss and he's made a really poor decision. "There are still sanctions involved, and some of those include education. "The second part of that is he's a footballer and he has responsibilities. He has a responsibility to the club, team-mates, our supporters and everyone associated with the club and he's failed in those duties, so there's got to be sanctions for that." Postecoglou further explained his disappointment at Bissouma's behaviour. "There's the personal ramifications, because it's illegal," said the former Celtic manager. "Then there's the professional responsibility - the example you set as a professional footballer - because there are so many people who follow the Premier League and we're all in a pretty privileged position. "He's made a poor choice. But within that context, we all make mistakes, there should always be an opportunity there for rehabilitation and redemption for every human being, including footballers.

Leicester 1-1 Tottenham: What Ange Postecglou said..i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/08/09/08/88342419-13726745-image-m-22_1723188413836.jpgTottenham boss Ange Postecglou after Monday's draw with Leicester City: "It is a disappointing outcome. We were very dominant first half but really wasteful in front of goal. We started the second half similar. "But you know at 1-0 there is always an opportunity for the opposition to come back into the game. That's what happened and we lost our way for 15 or 20 minutes. We lost our composure and the crowd got behind them, but again we finished strong. "I am just really disappointed as we lacked a little cutting edge in the front third and made some poor decisions. We lacked some composure and didn't get the reward our football deserved." On Bentancur, who was taken off on a stretcher with a head injury: "I don't have a lot of information but I know he is up and he's communicating, so he's fine from that point of view. But obviously it is a head injury and I'll leave it in the hands of the medical team. The key thing is that he's definitely conscious and communicating."

Here are some of your comments:
Tottenham fansRobert: If anyone wants to understand the term "Spursy" then they only need to watch a replay of this match. We were totally dominant for 60 minutes but we only scored one goal. Then, inexplicably, Romero leaves Vardy unmarked to nod in Leicester's first attempt on target. Players and coaches come and go, but that weak mentality remains. It is both frustrating and baffling. Tom: Ange said that our finishing was poor - that included Solanke. Johnson and Son were both poor. Son, at 32, no longer has the pace to go past defenders, so instead he plays sideways and backwards. Udogie was given a hard time and he didn't look match fit. Vicario's shouting and screaming at Bergvall was disgraceful - he is an 18-year-old in his first Premier League game! Awful from Vicario. Karl: Wasteful, like the boss said! It happens too many times throughout seasons, year after year. We definitely should be picking up three points playing teams like Leicester, with no disrespect to them because they dug in and found belief. Larry: Very disappointing and limp. Spurs have no desire to win trophies and it shows in their body language. Every players needs seconds on the ball and there is no urgency. Spurs are happy to take the lead in matches and shut up shop - Ange seems happy to let them do that as well. We could struggle to finish in the top 10 this season. i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/08/21/15/88772693-13765679-image-a-27_1724251958469.jpg

Son wants to become Tottenham Hotspur legend..Like Harry Kane.i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/07/12/16/87260501-13628729-image-a-8_1720798379362.jpgCaptain Son Heung-min says he wants to be remembered as a Tottenham Hotspur legend, but does not believe he can be considered that yet. The 32-year-old is approaching his 10th year at the Premier League club and has made more than 500 appearances for them. He has scored at least 14 goals in each of the past eight seasons and struck up a fine partnership with Harry Kane before the England captain moved to Bayern Munich last summer. Asked what legacy he would one day like to leave at the club, South Korea forward Son told BBC Sport: "Legendary. "Being at one team in 10 years is a good effort I think. You have to be consistent with this and you also have to give something back to the club. "I still don’t think I am a legend of this club. I have said I want to win something with Spurs, then I want to be very happy to be called legend. "I joined Spurs to win a trophy and I hope we can make a special season.” Tottenham have not won a major trophy since the League Cup in 2008, but while Son is hoping to help them to silverware this term, he is not setting any personal targets. Last season he scored 17 Premier League goals as Spurs finished fifth. "I am not setting a goal of where I should be," he said. "Imagine if I say 10 goals or something and you score 10 goals in six games, your goal is done. I want to push as much as I can, never feeling it is enough. “I want to go as high as possible in every aspect – team, individual, everything. Then we will see where we are at." i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/04/26/10/84125609-13353449-image-a-9_1714125448711.jpgSon was named Tottenham captain in August last year, replacing Hugo Lloris. Sometimes the additional pressure that comes with it can be a burden, but Son has enjoyed the responsibility. “It has been good. I've learned a lot of things in the last year," he said. "Being a captain in a Premier League team takes a lot of responsibility. I am still learning. It is not easy but it is a good thing to do. “It is very important. I am not the loudest guy in the team but if I have to be loud I am happy to do it. I just want to be a good example with good behaviours. We have such a young group of players and if the captain does the right thing then the players will do the same things. “Off the pitch as well, I always try to be at a good level of what I am doing but the players are listening well so I am very grateful."

Newcastle 2-1 Tottenham: What Ange Postecoglou said:i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/09/01/15/89158255-13801877-image-m-26_1725202255403.jpgTottenham boss Ange Postecoglu speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "Story of our season so far really. We played well and controlled the game for the most part. They were a threat in transition but we still had enough chances to win the game comfortably. "I thought we were handling the transitions. The goal we conceded in the second half was sloppy and we lost focus. The game should have been put to bed a lot longer before that. "What I know is if we continue to play like that we will get our rewards. It's not an easy place to come. For the most part, I thought we handled that really well. The way we controlled the game was really pleasing. "Frustrating more than anything else. It's three good performances but not the results that reflect that."

Here are some of your comments:
Spurs fansLol: We have to make our possession in the final third start to count. Hopefully Dominic Solanke and/or Richarlison can get fit quick and give us a bit more power through the middle. There was a cross from Brennan Johnson along the ground in the second half that was begging for a touch, but we had nobody anywhere near it. Martin: Same old problems, which is deeply frustrating. No plan B and lack of conviction and belief. The manager has to shoulder a lot of the blame. We have a soft centre. Roger: Same story - playing good football and dominating the game wins nothing if you keep bottling the final pass, cannot finish and then switch off defensively. Players need to stop thinking that they are better than they are and focus on concentrating in the key moments. Pretty football alone is not enough at this level. Johnson and Cristian Romero please note! Keef: Let's not forget that Newcastle are a good side at home and we got beat there 4-0 last season and 5-1 before that. The lack of a natural striker on the pitch and bench did for us. We had more possession and chances, but as per last season we didn't make the most of them. Hopefully things will improve after the international break when Solanke is back. i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/09/01/21/89166489-0-image-a-20_1725224334269.jpg

Here are some of your comments:
Tottenham fansBen: Excellent result, which should silence the doubters for a week. Real fans understand this is a journey and they need to get behind Ange and the process. This could kick start our season!! Doug: Played like the Spurs that started last season. They were so much more clinical, played with intensity, were dangerous going forward and closed down everything especially after losing the ball. This is the way we want to see Spurs play, much more confidence in the team and so chuffed for Solanke and Johnson after the abuse they got off some so called fans. Micky: After a disastrous start we recovered well. We tackled hard and fair, passed quickly and forwards and seemed to have a better game plan. It was good to watch and was a good game with Brentford adding to the game by not sitting deep and attacking when they could. Johnson played well and scored a good goal, hopefully he will continue to improve. Dan: Feels like a big three points, but I never doubted Ange in the first games either. We were dominating games, so wins were coming. We saw that today and there'll be more of that to come. Solanke is going to be a class striker. He's just warming up. Brennan Johnson is on fire too. Much to look forward to.

Sunday 29th September 2024 - Premier League - Venue: Old Trafford
Manchester United 0 (Bruno Fernandes sent off 42) Tottenham Hotspur 3 (Johnson 3, Kulusevski 47, Solanke 77)
i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/09/29/18/90243369-13904765-image-a-49_1727632573699.jpg
Match report by Phil McNulty, Chief football writer at Old TraffordTottenham produced a magnificent display to outclass 10-man Manchester United at Old Trafford and pile renewed pressure on manager Erik ten Hag. Spurs, even without injured Son Heung-min, tore Manchester United apart as they set the platform for victory with a first-half masterclass, the only mystery being how they only had Brennan Johnson's third-minute goal to show for their overwhelming dominance. Johnson's simple finish was created by Micky van de Ven's barnstorming run from his own half, and Spurs went on to create chance after chance without adding to their advantage - Timo Werner being the biggest culprit when he allowed United keeper Andre Onana to save when clean through. United's cause was not helped when captain Bruno Fernandes was sent off three minutes before the break for a lunge at James Maddison – but Ten Hag's side were an overrun, indisciplined rabble well before they had a numerical disadvantage. Spurs finally extended their lead two minutes after the interval when Dejan Kulusevski lifted a deft finish over Onana after a fine break by Johnson. The hard-working Dominic Solanke got the goal his industry deserved and gave the scoreline a more realistic appearance 12 minutes from time, turning in Pape Matar Sarr's headed flick at a corner to spark a mass exodus from Old Trafford by United's supporters. i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/09/29/22/90246077-13904993-Brennan_Johnson_pictured_left_after_scoring_for_Tottenham_in_Sun-m-19_1727645686403.jpg

We started the game well, scored a great goal and probably should have had two or three. The pressure then overwhelms them and they get the red card. After that I thought we controlled the game well. Just an outstanding effort from all the lads." Disappointed not to get more goals? "I don't know about frustrated but I am only human. More for the players themselves. We played some unbelievable football and you want them to get the rewards." On the red card: "I think it was a consequence of how we were going in the game, just putting enormous pressure on them. The amount of chances that we were creating, we weren't letting them get out of their half. It was a strong all-round performance." On getting early goals in games: "Every game you always want to start well but it doesn't always happen. I told the boys that in the last two games we conceded in the first 20 seconds against Brentford and then had a man sent off in the first eight minutes, so it is about dealing with that you have out there. "That is our fourth win in row and we have won them in different ways, but always stayed true to our principals and the way we want to play football." On building momentum: "It helps. I think our performances in the league have been strong all year but we haven't had that cutting edge. Our performances have been good but when you get the wins too that is important, you want the players to think they are getting the rewards for their efforts."

Tottenham condemn 'abhorrent homophobic chanting' from sections of away support at Old Trafford..by PA Mediai.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/09/29/21/90246609-13898575-image-a-1_1727642651129.jpgTottenham Hotspur say they will take the "strongest possible action" over "abhorrent homophobic chanting" during Sunday's win at Manchester United. The chanting was heard as Spurs outclassed a 10-man United side to win 3-0 at Old Trafford. In a statement, Tottenham condemned the chanting. "This is simply unacceptable, hugely offensive and no way to show support for the team," the club said. "The club will be working closely with the police and stewards to identify anyone instigating or joining in with the chanting - we shall take the strongest possible action in accordance with our sanctions and banning policy." Spurs added: "We all have a responsibility to act as ambassadors of Tottenham Hotspur and discrimination of any kind has no place at our club." Tottenham reminded supporters they can report incidents directly to them and that the club will continue its work with their LGBTQ+ supporters’ association, Proud Lilywhites. "We're all Spurs fans just like you," Proud Lilywhites said on X. "When you sing these songs, you're telling us we don't belong; and we do, as much as you do."

Here are some of your comments:Pablo: Rome wasn't built in a day but the scaffolding is clearly off! Ange has the lads flying. This is why you don't sack a manager after a quiet start. Ellie: Amazing game from Tottenham. Man Utd weren’t on the ball and we took advantage of that. Happy with the win. We should’ve won more than 3-0. Timo Werner should’ve scored those two one-on-ones with the keeper and so should have Dominic Solanke. Overall, I amhappy with the performance and amazing win from the lads. Brett: Our best performance of the season - everyone played their part from start to finish. Rodrigo Bentancur looked solid in midfield and the three up front were outstanding. Daz: Fantastic first-half performance, really enjoyable to watch. Still need to kill teams off earlier and we had plenty of chances to do this. Great result though. Dejan Kulusevski and Brennan Johnson were brilliant and good to see Dom starting to put away chances. Got to build on this result. Doug: Fantastic result - we should have won by a lot more. We’re going from strength to strength and clicking so much more as a team. So chuffed Solanke and Johnson scored again. Good to see the starting players rested and the young players given some valuable minutes. Surely even the negative ones of our fanbase can see the direction we are heading now. Robert: Sensational performance. The best in a very long time. Completely outclassed United. Could and probably should have won by a bigger margin. Hopefully, this will kickstart our season. More please! Nick: Whisper it quietly, but this was yet another dominant display that has been seen all season. We are starting to get the results our performances have warranted. People have forgotten that the likes of Arsenal and Newcastle had to plat ultra defensively to take three points. United couldn't come close to competing with us. Andy: Sure, I’m hard to please, but don’t judge us too highly after this game. United were simply a disgrace -no running and no spirit. A shambles. Werner’s two clear goal chances might hurt us. He’s a willing runner, he covers well, but as at Chelsea, he loses his nerve and prods the ball anywhere! Our two central defenders were magnificent.

Thursday 3rd October 2024 - UEFA Europa League - League Stage
Ferencváros 1 Tottenham Hotspur 2 (Sarr 23, Johnson 86)
i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/10/04/00/90437415-13923039-Brennan_Johnson_was_on_the_scoresheet_during_Tottenham_s_win_aga-a-20_1727999477206.jpg Brennan Johnson was on the scoresheet during Tottenham's win against Ferencvaros
Match report by Michael Emons, BBC Sport journalistTottenham made it two victories from two Europa League games as their youthful side edged past Ferencvaros in Hungary. Ange Postecoglou included four teenagers in his starting line-up – winger Mikey Moore, 17, midfielder Lucas Bergvall, 18, defender Archie Gray, 18, and 19-year-old striker Will Lankshear, who was making his senior debut. Goals from Pape Sarr, 22, and Brennan Johnson, 23, gave them the win, with the teenagers playing key roles. "I thought Mikey was outstanding," said Postecoglou. "It’s brilliant for a 17-year-old to play 90-plus minutes in a European away tie. He handled it superbly. I kind of knew he would and it’ll help his growth as a footballer. "If you look at the Premier League, how many 17-year-olds are actually contributing and Mikey is already, which shows he’s got something special - but we’ve got to be really careful how we develop that." On the other youngsters, Postecoglou was also pleased with how they performed and added: "They’re part of our first-team squad, not because I want young players, it's because they've earned that spot. We can't discount the fact Archie is 18, Lucas is 18. "Archie was brilliant. We asked him to play in two different positions and it's incredible how he adjusts. Lucas worked hard and Will was unlucky with a couple of moments when we could have got a goal. “These guys are there because they've earned their spot, but they're an important part of our development." i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/10/04/00/90435733-0-image-a-1_1727996486496.jpg

Here are some of your comments:
Paul: A good win and performance from a very young and inexperienced team. All of the youngsters were heavily involved throughout and they can all be happy with their contributions. It gave Ange Postecoglou an opportunity to rest some of the squad prior to Brighton. It was good for him to get a good look at Mikey Moore and Will Lankshear, as both will be challenging for more game time. Len: It was solid enough. Most of the first team were left out or left on the bench, but we always had something in hand. Brennan Johnson scored again - for the fifth consecutive time. It was a good display. Spurs are on the rise. Joe: Yes it was a win, which is great, but defensively we were an unmitigated disaster. We seemed intent on giving away goals. We gave the ball away so cheaply and so frequently through downright sloppy passing. Also, how often did we look like scoring? Julian: It was good to see our young players being given a chance. Moore was excellent. Lankshear came close to scoring. Archie Gray had an excellent 60 minutes but then came out of position too often. Lucas Bergvall needs to work on his speed and fitness although he is technically good. I hope they all get more opportunities, especially as Timo Werner seems incapable of scoring. Paul: Even against lower quality opposition, Werner is having no impact on the game. How much longer is the manager going to persevere with him?

Sunday 6th October 2024 - Premier League
Brighton & Hove Albion 3 Tottenham Hotspur 2 (Johnson 23, Maddison 37)
i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/10/06/17/90523549-13930289-image-a-33_1728232201341.jpg Brennan Johnson continued his incredible form in front of goal as Spurs faced Brighton
Match report by Michael Emons, BBC Sport journalistBrighton produced a superb fightback to come from two goals down and beat Tottenham in a Premier League thriller on the south coast. Spurs looked to be heading to a sixth successive victory in all competitions as they deservedly led 2-0 after 37 minutes. Brennan Johnson opened the scoring with his sixth goal in six games when he timed his run perfectly to run on to Dominic Solanke’s through ball before slotting past Bart Verbruggen. The home goalkeeper should have done better with a curled shot from James Maddison as he got two hands to the low strike, but could not keep the ball out as Spurs doubled their lead. But Brighton were a side transformed after the break. They pulled one back early in the second half, when Destiny Udogie was unable to clear the ball from Kaoru Mitoma's cross and Yankuba Minteh capitalised to grab his first goal for the Seagulls following his £30m move from Newcastle. The impressive Mitoma was again involved as the hosts equalised in the 58th minute, passing to Georginio Rutter, who twisted to create space away from Micky van de Ven and then shoot low past Guglielmo Vicario. Rutter then did excellently to not give up, slide in near the byeline to get a cross in, which Danny Welbeck converted with a downward header to score what proved to be the winner. i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/10/06/22/90526425-13930581-Ange_Postecoglou_seethed_as_he_slammed_his_Tottenham_side_after_-a-76_1728248783253.jpgTottenham boss Ange Postecoglou, speaking to Sky Sports: "Disappointing. Frustrated and absolutely gutted with that. Worst defeat since I've been here. Unacceptable second half. Nowhere near where we should be. We got carried away with how were were going. "We kind of accepted our fate and it is hard to understand as we've not done that while I've been here. We paid the price. "The problem is we are travelling along too smoothly, football and life will trip you up if you get too far ahead of yourself." On message to the players: "There is no message. It is a terrible loss for us - as bad as it gets. Only one way to fix it and that's my responsibility. "We lost all our duels and if you're not competitive it is not going to work - we were not competitive. "They all go international duty the majority of them. They will process it individually and I will process it when everyone gets back."

Here are some of your comments:
Spurs fansMob: Game of two halves. First half we were absolutely brilliant and should have scored more than three. Second half we lost the plot. Ange got his wish to keep the game wide open. Brighton exploited our non-existent midfield and Porro and Udogie couldn't live with Mitoma and Minteh. Game management was lacking. Loss is down to both Ange and the players. Shocking! John: The second half was pathetic - we played like school kids in a park. I have been a fan for 40 years and that was as bad a second-half performance as I have seen. Herman: Some fans are blaming the manager and the style of play, but that’s got nothing to do with how we played in the second half. No aggression, no belief and not playing forward. Most players weren't there any more in the second half. That's unacceptable and unbelievable. I really hope Mikey Moore will be in the starting XI more often. Matty: A perfect illustration of Spurs' split personality.

Match report by Nizaar Kinsella, BBC Sport football news reporter at Tottenham Hotspur StadiumA spectacular second half-display saw Tottenham run out dominant Premier League winners over local rivals West Ham in north London. Hammers winger Mohammed Kudus turned in the opening goal of the game from a Jarrod Bowen cross in the 18th minute having missed a similar chance moments earlier. Midfielder Dejan Kulusevski got Spurs a deserved equaliser which squeezed in after hitting both posts in the 36th minute. But with Spurs already dominant in the first half, they took their game to another level after the interval as James Maddison was substituted for Pape Matar Sarr. They scored just seven minutes later as Yves Bissouma arrived to finish Destiny Udogie's cutback to put Spurs ahead. Son Heung-min, who had been pulling the strings for the other goals, then saw his shot saved by Alphonse Areola but his parry deflected off Jean-Clair Todibo and into the goal. The Korean scored five minutes later by tucking in a finish after the Hammers failed to clear a loose ball, but then hit the post with a similar chance as West Ham turned over possession straight after the resulting kick-off. Remarkably, Kudus was sent off after pushing both Sarr and Micky van de Ven in the face, following an intervention from VAR Christopher Kavanagh. The result was what Spurs' impressive attacking play deserved and their second-half display helps to exorcise demons after the club squandered a 2-0 lead at Brighton before the international break. They lost that match 3-2 at the Amex Stadium - leading Ange Postecoglou to describe the display at his "worst defeat" since becoming Spurs manager last summer. i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/10/19/14/91042929-13977981-image-a-20_1729345687205.jpg
Ange Postecoglou spoke to BBC Match of the Day after Tottenham's victory against West Ham: "We had to fight hard in the first half. Going a goal down wasn't ideal but we clawed our way back into it, and it is not easy. West Ham are a big physical side and they have got some speed as well. "Second half we were outstanding. We upped the tempo and played some quality football, defended when we needed to and got our finishing right. "I think we had some chances where we could have scored more but if we keep creating the goals will come. We want to be that sort of side that creates lots of chances." Half time message: "It was not about changing things. We knew there had been a bit of an arm wrestle and we always back ourselves to keep going at the intensity we always do and upping it and taking the game to West Ham. We knew that putting them under pressure here at home we would eventually get there. On Maddison being taken off at half time: "We needed more running power in midfield and Pape [Sarr] has lots of that, bags of energy and running. He really helped us to get control of the midfield and that gave us a good platform to go forward. Our general play improved from there and we looked dangerous going forward." On the break since the Brighton defeat: "It was a bad 45 minutes not a bad 90 minutes [v Brighton] so we were not that far away. In that game we stopped the things we had to do in the second half but today it was a 95 minute performance."

ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/800/cpsprodpb/2f7f/live/95709000-0915-11ef-bee9-6125e244a4cd.jpgWe asked for your thoughts after Saturday's Premier League game between Tottenham and West Ham.
Here are some of your comments:
Spurs fansChris: This was more like the Spurs we want and expect. After all the attacking pressure in the first half, getting the equaliser was really important. Then the start of the second half was amazing and probably should have seen more Spurs goals. Silvia: Loved the game! Almost a throwback to old derbies we used to get. I felt we were always in the game, even when we went a goal down. We've got a bit of swagger about us at the moment. I know people will say it's only West Ham, but a London derby is always a potential upset. Proud Spurs fan. Simon: Against Brighton, Ange Postecoglou was way too slow to respond to Brighton's tactical change in the second half. There's always been a worry that Ange, much as we love him, is a bit of a one-trick pony. Against West Ham, he showed he can analyse a game and make the right tactical call when needed. i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/10/19/14/91042683-0-image-a-1_1729344693125.jpg
