ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/800/cpsprodpb/2f7f/live/95709000-0915-11ef-bee9-6125e244a4cd.jpgWe asked for your views on Timo Werner who Tottenham have signed on loan again for the 2024/25 season.
Here are some of your responses:
Dean: Sensible business. We can focus this summer on strengthening the squad in other positions and get another season to decide on whether to eventually look for a Werner upgrade, or sign the player himself for less than 10m. Tristen: Not impressed with this deal at all, the game time he has already had with us tells me he offers very little and has no end product. He doesn’t improve the squad. We need a number 9. Son on the left, Johnson on the right and get Harry Kane back to play nine. Please no more mediocre Levy signings. Clive: I think it's a very savvy bit of business to retain Timo Werner on loan for another season. He showed enough for me last season to suggest he'll make a good addition to the squad, and a whole pre season with the team will make him even better. He won't start every game but he's a great squad player in my opinion. Geoff: He shows good promise but the end delivery is not good. Also missed too many very good chances in front of goal. Money would be better spent on a good young striker that could develop and stay a few more years. Nathan: Werner on loan is risk free for Spurs. We’ve seen shades of what he can do already in Ange’s system, and being made to feel wanted will do his confidence no harm at all. I’m happy for him and happy with this bit of business so early in the window. Jeffery: Don't understand the decision to extend Werner's loan agreement. If we can't buy someone better than him, or haven’t got better coming through the system, then quite frankly, we might as well give up on next season now!

ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/800/cpsprodpb/278d/live/1e1f6cb0-234b-11ef-80aa-699d54c46324.jpgWe asked for your views on what Tottenham's priorities should be as we head into the summer.
Here are some of your suggestions:
James: Sell Richarlison. Buy a proper striker. Austen: With Maddison's injury during the season, it exposed the lack of creativity in midfield. Controversially I would ideally shift Son on, whilst he has value, and replace with younger legs. I thought he looked very jaded towards the end of the season. Tom: Spurs need to sign someone who has a better end product, Werner is not going to fit the bill alone. John: Massive clearout of under performing players; Richarlson, Spence, Emerson Royal, Rodon, Skipp, Hojberg, Harry: First order of business should be to sign a new winger who has the potential to be an heir to Son's position. My preference would be Eberechi Eze from Palace.

Here are some of your responses:
James: Maddison is one of the most creative players England have at the moment, which was demonstrated at the start of the season. His form has tailed off admittedly yet he is on the up again and offers something different in that pocket behind the striker. He should be in the squad. Maddison is also an excellent free-kick and corner taker. Mark: Season ticket holder at Spurs and this is the right decision. Maddison hasn't played well since his injury and needs proper time to recover. Other players are miles ahead of him in that position - Eze, Palmer, Gordon all competing as understudies. Hopefully this rejection gives Madders the incentive to get back to his best form. David: The worrying thing about Maddison being cut is the timing. Why single him out like this? Graham: Maddison had a great start to the season, but the lengthy injury layoff seemed to dent his confidence and he wasn't quite as good for the remainder of the season. It was great to make the provisional squad, but I think his omission from the final squad is the right decision. Adam: When England have 10 minutes left in a game and need a goal, he's a great option to bring on - a bit of imagination and guile to unlock a packed defence, there's not many players better than him for that. I think we'll miss him. Peter: As a Spurs fan this is the right decision. Playing for Spurs, he is in a perfect role. There are many better players within the England squad. He hasn't been his natural self since returning from injury. The lay-off will do him some good. England have to take the best 26 players that are fit and in form. ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/800/cpsprodpb/2d08/live/d817cc30-23d1-11ef-80aa-699d54c46324.jpg

Tottenham have begun talks with the representatives of Lille's 24-year-old Canada forward Jonathan David, who is also linked with a move to Chelsea. Tottenham Hotspur are interested in 25-year-old Crystal Palace and England forward Eberechi Eze and could look to activate a release clause in his contract. Meanwhile, Spurs have beaten a number of Premier League clubs to the signing of Glentoran's 16-year-old striker George Feeney, who has represented Northern Ireland and Wales at youth level. Tottenham have had a £20m bid for 23-year-old midfielder Jacob Ramsey - which included Giovani lo Celso moving in the opposite direction - rejected by Aston Villa. Chelsea have joined Spurs in the race to sign English midfielder Archie Gray, 18, from Leeds United. And Tottenham and West Ham will compete to sign 22-year-old English winger Jaden Philogene from Hull City.

Borussia Dortmund will make a move for Tottenham's 28-year-old Denmark midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg if they fail in their attempts to sign Germany midfielder Pascal Gross, 33, from Brighton. Manchester United are keen on re-signing Tottenham's 27-year-old Spain defender Sergio Reguilon, who spent the first half of last season on loan at Old Trafford Tottenham are exploring a player-plus-cash deal for Aston Villa's former England Under-21 midfielder Jacob Ramsey, 23, with Giovani lo Celso heading the other way. Tottenham have announced the signing of midfielder Archie Gray from Leeds United in a deal worth between £30m and £40m..ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/800/cpsprodpb/cd71/live/c0a26f80-37d4-11ef-bbe0-29f79e992ddd.jpgThe 18-year-old Leeds academy graduate has signed a six-year deal and becomes Ange Postecoglou's second summer signing, after Timo Werner re-joined the club on loan from RB Leipzig. Gray made 44 appearances in the Championship last season and has represented England at age-group level up to the under-21s. He will wear the number 14 shirt next season. Midfielder Archie Gray was brought to London by Brentford, not Tottenham, as the Bees believed they were close to securing arguably the biggest transfer in the club's history. Brentford technical director Lee Dykes had led the charge to pull off one of the biggest coups in recent times. However, after failing to agree a payment structure to satisfy Leeds United, Spurs managed to change the course of the deal to sign Gray for £30m, plus the £10m Joe Rodon going the other way, to meet the £40m release clause to ensure the 18-year-old's exit. The signing of Gray on a six-year deal in north London ends a saga which reveals a lot about where both Tottenham and Brentford are. Spurs may often get ridiculed for failing to win trophies by fans of other big clubs, but they are widely perceived to be a great place for British talent to develop within the football ecosystem. ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/800/cpsprodpb/c6d2/live/1ac20200-3861-11ef-9fbc-9deb2c2019a8.jpgMeanwhile, the Bees are also highly regarded across the game. They have ambitions to push towards European qualification and are willing to spend big to do so. However, to do that, they need to attract another level of talent - and that has proved difficult at times for Thomas Frank's side.

ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/800/cpsprodpb/2f7f/live/95709000-0915-11ef-bee9-6125e244a4cd.jpgWe asked for your opinions on Tottenham signing 18-year-old Archie Gray from Leeds United.
Here are some of your thoughts:Sue: I think this is an outstanding signing for Spurs. My husband is a Leeds fan (and is currently gutted) and we watched Archie throughout last season and were really impressed. He plays with maturity and he is fast and passionate. He is a great fit for the way Spurs play. Very exciting! Hagafan: Does he strengthen our starting 11? No. Is he going to improve by sitting on our bench? No. Surely we could have signed someone for £40m that would have made us stronger now and not in three years time. Richard: I hope Archie Gray becomes a star player for us. You can see him slotting into the inverted full-back role, but we do have a poor track-record in developing high-profile players signed at high prices - for example: Juan Foyth, Jack Clarke, Djed Spence, Bryan Gil. Hopefully Ange turns Gray into a superstar, but I'm not holding my breath. Craig: This deal says more about Daniel Levy. We all know that we should be focusing on getting Eze and Toney, but Gray will command less wages. Spending £30m on an 18-year-old who is unlikely to start, when we're in desperate need of a squad for the here and now, is bizarre. I watched him in the play-off final and he was AWOL. I can only hope I'm wrong, but I'm not excited. James: Gray might be a talented lad, but he is untested in the Premier League. He is only 18-years-old and I think £30m is a lot of money for such a player. With Joe Rodon signing permanently for Leeds, this deal is similar to the one last season where James Maddison came to Spurs and Harry Winks went to Leicester City - but at least Maddison was proven at Premier League and international level. Paul: He is a great talent but it is another nail in our academy coffin. We're spending all of this money on talent at Spurs and very few are punching through! I'm glad Ange has got £30m to spare, but much more established players are needed. Nigel: Djed Spence, Joe Rodon, Ashley Phillips and Alfie Devine were all deemed good enough to sign but not to play, so it is an even shout that Archie Gray will have the same fate. All of the top teams play their younger players on a regular basis, so watch and learn Spurs! ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/800/cpsprodpb/32ed/live/292c38e0-385e-11ef-9fbc-9deb2c2019a8.jpg

Spurs open to keeping Emerson but looking at options..by Nizaar Kinsella, BBC Sport football news reporter.ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/800/cpsprodpb/0cfd/live/b05dbd40-4351-11ef-8895-6d3cb2081c6f.jpgTottenham are open to keeping defender Emerson Royal but have scoured the market for contingency options should he leave. The club have already rejected an opening 10m euros (£8.4m) bid from AC Milan for the Brazil international. One player being considered is 22-year-old Brest defender Bradley Locko, who is in France's squad for the Olympics. However, the club's priority remains signing a forward after the arrival of midfielders Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall, with Timo Werner's loan move from RB Leipzig also being extended.

Jermain Defoe leaves Spurs coaching role..ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/800/cpsprodpb/a529/live/16f48410-443a-11ef-87cd-f78b7ec667b5.jpgFormer Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe has announced he will be leaving the club as a coach, to focus on his next career move in management. The 40-year-old has worked across the under-17s and under-21 squads at Spurs since officially hanging up his boots as a player in 2022. He made 363 appearances for the club as a player and scored 143 times. "It's been a pleasure to achieve so much at Spurs, including reaching Uefa A coaching status, which was always an ambition of mine following my playing career," Defoe posted on X, external. "Spurs will always hold a special place in my heart and the fans already know how much the club means to me. "However, now is the right time for me to move on and shape the rest of my coaching and managerial career. Nevertheless, I will forever remember my time at Spurs fondly." In March last year, Defoe said the number of black managers and coaches in football was "shocking", but had hopes to inspire more players to move into the industry.

Manchester United do not want to allow 27-year-old Scotland midfielder Scott McTominay to leave Old Trafford, amid interest from Spurs and Fulham. Spurs winger Bryan Gil, 23, and 27-year-old left-back Sergio Reguilon, who are both Spanish, have been left out of the club's pre-season tour of Japan and South Korea so they can explore moves away from the club. Tottenham value Brazil forward Richarlison at £60m, with Saudi Pro League club Al-Ahli having indicated they are interested in the 27-year-old.

ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/800/cpsprodpb/c043/live/ecb3f520-0913-11ef-82e8-cd354766a224.pngAC Milan have made a bid worth 15m euros (£12.78m) plus add-ons to sign Brazilian defender Emerson Royal, 25, from Tottenham. Juventus want to offload eight stars in a summer overhaul, including 26-year-old Italy forward Federico Chiesa, who has been linked with Tottenham. Tottenham are interested in Bournemouth forward Dominic Solanke, but a move for Englishman could be dependent on the future of 27-year-old Brazilian striker Richarlison. Spurs are preparing themselves for a huge offer for Richarlison from the Saudi Pro League. (update below) Striker Richarlison says he wants to stay at Tottenham Hotspur after turning down a move to Saudi Arabia. The Brazil forward, 27, joined Spurs from Everton in 2022 for a club-record fee of £60m. He has scored 15 goals in 66 appearances for Tottenham and was not always a starter last season under manager Ange Postecoglou. Richarlison, whose contract runs until 2027, has attracted interest from a number of clubs in Saudi Arabia, with one unnamed team tabling a bid. However, he says he wants to remain in England in order to improve his chances of continuing his international career with Brazil. "There has been an offer but my dream of playing for the Brazilian Selecao and in the Premier League speaks louder," Richarlison told ESPN Brazil, external.

Spurs to make presentations to Harry Kane and Eric Dier before the match v Bayern Munich on Saturday...i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/02/04/14/80830803-13043847-image-a-115_1707058772638.jpgHarry Kane and Eric Dier will be presented with commemorative gifts by Tottenham club ambassador Ledley King before Saturday's pre-season friendly between Spurs and Bayern Munich. Both players will be returning to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for the first time since leaving Spurs for German side Bayern last season. The club said: "We have not previously had the opportunity to bid farewell to two players who have made such a significant contribution to our club in recent years." Kane is Tottenham's all-time record goalscorer with 280 goals in 435 appearances for Spurs, while Dier made 365 appearances for Tottenham after joining in 2014. The presentation is planned to take place 15 minutes before the 5.30pm kick-off.

Here are some of your comments:
Artur: I'm really excited about Solanke. Think he fits our system really well and Ange would really like him. He presses well and can finish well so I think he's worth the money. Andy: I don't think Solanke is worth the money suggested. One good season last year is all he's had. He hasn't attracted much interest in the past. Liverpool let him go for a reason, give Will Lankshear a chance. Martyn: If Ange says he's the right man then that's good enough for me. No transfer is guaranteed, but he's proven in the Premier League, won't need to adapt like a more glamorous sounding foreign player and most importantly wants to join us. Matty: Two words... Toney please. Solanke is a one-hit wonder. Ian: We were desperately missing a number nine last season, even playing Son out of position. This is a step in the right direction. It's a shame we won't break the bank for once for an Osimhen-type player to make a statement of intent. Richard: All you can really say is that he is a striker and he is English. Big money signings and Spurs usually represent a big red flag, but if he carries last year's form into this, he could work out. 50/50 in my opinion. i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/08/10/13/88381671-13730545-image-a-12_1723292700659.jpg

Wales defender Ben Davies, 31, is likely to see out the final year of his contract at Tottenham rather than look for a move elsewhere this summer. Getafe are interested in taking 19-year-old Spurs centre-back Ashley Phillips on loan. Tottenham striker Dane Scarlett, 20, has joined Championship side Oxford United on a season long loan. The Englishman has already made 10 appearances for Spurs.
