We'd be top if we'd won all our games, too. Pahaha. Reminds me of that Jasper Carrot bit about all the nonsense people would ring local radio up with after the games "EH WHAT ABOUT THE VILLA THEN TONE? FENTON HIT THIS ONE SHOT, IF IT HAD GONE IN THE NET IT'VE BEEN A GOAL!" So it turns out that it was Jasper Carrot that trained Steve Cotterill in his strange kind of humour. It is humour, isn't it?

Unfortunately I can't claim the same for myself, but as in the case with the manager . . . I'm beginning to see the light, as it were. Better late than never eh? Matty Taylor has undoubtedly developed into a good League Two striker based on his form and goals scored so far this season, and with the number of games still to be played hopefully he may get even better. I'm always impressed with his speed of thought, and the speed of his feet. Not too bad for a player that we picked up for nothing . . . and we could always have signed Matt Tubbs. Lucky escape that was, just based on Tubbs' wages and signing-on fee alone.

Nick Day invariably delivers a fitting speech. An intelligent and articulate man he captured the mood felt by all of us. Great speech Nick. Churcillian, well almost.

For the doubters, DC obviously does not know what he's doing, we're one place outside the play offs on goal difference with a game in hand. . . . plus we've jettisoned two cup competitions in four days this week (and losing prestige and revenue in the process), presumably just to give ourselves every chance of winning the league, or promotion at the very least. Not I'm complaining mind you, 'cos it worked for us last season.

Two more good goals from Matty Taylor, he's really settling himself into the season now it seems to me. But what really did impress me was the way in which he started the move that led to his first goal, that really was an excellent touch. We've already seen so far this season that he has both a quick mind and a good touch . . . oh, and an eye for the goal.

Yeah, that's about right. Very realistic appraisal, nail on the head time an' all that. But whisper it very quietly, 'cos we don't want to feed the sycophant now do we? Well this is the thing. From my understanding, with the exception of a very few who seem (perhaps understandably) unable to look passed the fact that Clarke was at the helm when the ship went down and look at any chink in the armoury of evidence of his unsuitability for the job, I think most Rovers fans seem to have a quiet confidence in the manager without it descending into hero worship. They accept he is a young manager who is still learning his trade and there will be bumps in the road for which he deserve questioning but that on balance he is comfortably in credit and it's hard to see who would do a better job under the circumstances. I think he's quite an abrasive character who is a difficult person to take fully to heart but that might be part of the reason why he has done pretty well. Very well summed up if I might say so. Next up, Matty Taylor goes under the microscope.

More of a temporary wobble than a crisis I'd say. But as it even failed to register on the Richter Scale, it couldn't have been a full-blown crisis. It was a frustrating result though wasn't it, but all's well that ends well eh? I just find myself feeling quite relaxed with Clarke in charge. I feel that every time we hit a blip his team seems to respond - whether that's luckk, motivation, tactics etc I don't know. But poor performances and brief runs of bad form do not seem to become indicative of the wheels coming off. I'm not sure there's a more important thing for a manager to be able to do than to develop a side that is resilient enough to bounce back from setbacks. Plenty of managers do not seem capable of doing this and compound the problem where a short term run of bad form becomes terminal - often because they lose their nerve with the understandable pressure of losing their job and try to permanently park the bus. Certainly suggests that the players believe in the manager. Yeah, that's about right. Very realistic appraisal, nail on the head time an' all that. But whisper it very quietly, 'cos we don't want to feed the sycophant now do we?

Sainsberries will settle before the court case Think I will take that comment with a large pinch of sodium chloride Henbury, owing to the fact that Sainsbury's have nothing to gain by making a settlement.I hear Monday 'could be interesting' or was that last Monday, or last month, lost in all the vague comments that have amounted to diddly squat over the past couple of years. . . . other than getting a pesky nuisance to go away and leave them alone to get on with their business. I don't think that they'll pay silly money mind you.

I wonder if they have been comparing wages... Traditionally it's always been unsettling for players from the lower divisions, when they start mixing with their more glamorous cousins from the higher divisions . . . and inevitably begin to compare their respective pay and conditions.

Carlisle must be feeling absolutely gutted to be the team that we finally beat at home this season, I expect that they thought that they only had to turn up and collect the three points. But credit must go to the defence that only permitted five shots all game, and only one on target according to BBC Sport. But whichever way you look at it the MOM must be Matty Taylor, because he scored the two goals that won the game for us. It's a really positive result after last Sunday, and it's in the League too . . . which gives us three points and takes us up to eighth in the table.
Well played to the team, 'cos they showed a bit of backbone after last weekend.

We have played Carlisle 34 times, W13, L12, D9..biggest win was 5-2 and loss was 4-0 twice. Both teams this season have won 7 in the league and both have a +1 GD. I am going for a 2-1 win and a 6444 crowd.Considering our home form so far this season, that's quite a brave couple of predictions. But I do hope that you're right though.

Surely most of us have given up on this complete and utter **** up ? does anybody really think Shamesburys are going to give BRFC any money, any time soon. I don't, they will have a top notch legal team with long pockets, we have higgsie and boycie, really ! can you ever see this pair getting the job done ? this all equals at best staying at the MEM for the foreseeable and at worst H&B losing us the ground. utg Now let's see, if we don't appeal we definitely won't get any money, if we do appeal we may get something or are the type who expects to win the lottery without ever buying a ticket? That's a good 'un. It made I laff it did.

I can't help but see the irony here in that many of us are upset and angry, over cursham and yet we are celebrating this shock win. Not having a pop at OP at all but it certainly gives perspective, for me in any case. Seems we had yet another night full of chances V Sarfend. We need a Meyer, right now. In recent years we've seen the 25th anniversary of 89-90 & 110th anniversary of the Southern League win pass without a peep from the club. The 60th anniversary of the 4-0 may seem trivial but recently we lost the last member of that side in Barrie Meyer. Let's not let these sorts of achievements go forgotten. Let's celebrate them for how incredible they were.
Maybe I'm daft but I want our supporters to celebrate these by not just having a page dedicated to them in the programme but by a show of pride, colour and passion.
Would that colour be rosé by any chance?

It's quite possible that should the RFU appoint a foreign coach, then he might have a more sympathetic approach to selecting English players that are currently playing abroad. In any event I think that the new coach (foreign or not) will have to reconsider the policy as a matter of necessity, if England are to progress. We can't continue with a policy which deprives us of real talent. I thought it was the RFUs decision and not the coaches to not pick players outwith our own league- although I do stand to be corrected on that. I see what you're saying there, but for the purposes of discussion I was working on the assumption that when the new coach was finally appointed, that he would have the full backing of the RFU as he had just been appointed by them. And that if it was his preferred choice to use overseas players then the RFU would go along with that on the basis that he was their own recently appointed man. And that if they did still not agree with the policy then they would not have engaged him in the first place . . . if you can follow my mazy logic (and assumptions) that is. But I suppose that what I'm attempting to say is that all of this (and much more I'm certain) will form part of the interview process, what the coach wants and what the RFU requires etc, so it would be no use to anyone to appoint someone whose policies do not conform to your ideals, and vice versa of course. Stay tuned.
