Simple, obvious yet brilliant! Oh, and yes it would annoy the other half of Bristol no end! Except by current boundaries, it isn't. But if the current city boundary is extended and it may well be ( you get more gov. money the bigger the city) it would be excellent.

Thread on Gas chat with a link to company's house showing all the loans have been repaid, with the exception of a debt with Sainsbury that can not be settled until the court case concludes. The club is Debt Free,

Suppose Sainsbury's have to pay up, they may buy the land and want us out, or though I am sure a deal could be made. Keep hearing rumors the land is already sold to one of the big house builders.

Didn't I read somewhere that they spent 1.2 billion buying shares in HSBC and the tourism "interest" is the fact that they own the 4 seasons chain of hotels, some off the most expensive places to stay in the world.

Do you honestly believe they had 40 genuine managers, apply ? Championship level football club, within a few months of a 30,000 redeveloped ground, billionaire owner prepared to back with the right signings, premier club in the region for many miles and large fan base to draw on.... Yeah can't see 40 managers interested in that can you? Then why the son of Dwarf ? Must be better in a list of 40.

Noticed the team news, we have a Phillips in goal, Ellington up front and a Mehew in midfield lets hope their as good as the originals. Winning 2-0 at half time. Do they play in the quarters? every picture I see looks like they wear the training shirts.

John Kayes is about as loyal a supporter as you will ever find, he helped organise the RATS (Rovers away travel services) back in the 70's and has always been around selling tee shirts, fanzine etc and he started the interaction with Sabadell, why any Rovers fan would give John abuse is beyond me.

No friendly arranged but a Weekend in April is the next trip to Spain, clashes with home game against Yeovil !! Spanish season to finish early due to Euro's in France next summer so there will be no end of season jolly. Yeovil could be a big game for us, not sure many will want to travel that weekend.

This seems to have gone unnoticed(or I missed it), either way, fantastic achievement, well done lads. Our U-18 side made it a calendar year, and 28 games, since their last league defeat with this win against Oxford United, achieved with goals from Sam Iles, Olly Mehew and Blake Davies. “It’s a nice feat to have achieved,” said Youth Team Manager Alan Walsh, “and particularly satisfying in that it’s been done over the course of two seasons, so a number of different players have been involved. “This was a good win, though I did feel that the performance could have been better. That might sound a little bit critical, but expect us to win games with good performances. At the moment we aren’t pushing teams as we should and making the game comfortable for ourselves. “We began this game brightly and did well in the opening ten minutes before Oxford scored with their first attempt on goal with a shot that went across the keeper and ended up in the far corner of the net. “The remainder of the half was fairly even with Oxford getting forward but not really troubling us at the back and we were much the same, really, and not putting any pressure on their back line.” Rovers did manage to get back on level terms five minutes before half time; “The Oxford goalkeeper came out to gather a corner, but dropped the ball, under pressure, and Sam Iles rifled in a shot that entered the net via the underside of the crossbar. “At half time I asked the players if they could be better defensively and be more clinical in front of goal and, to a certain extent, they were though we still gave away possession a little too easily at times. “We went ahead following a good move down the right that saw Elliot Green get past his full back and cross into the box where Olly Mehew was on hand to score from ten yards out.” The homes side equalised following another long ball over the top and Charlie Phillips was beaten by a shot from the edge of the area. However Rovers scored what proved to be the winning goal ten minutes from time. “Blake Davies took advantage of a goalkeeping error to force the ball in after a goalmouth melee. We pressed forward trying to get another goal and consequently left ourselves a little bit open to a counter attack but we managed to hold out for the win. Rovers: Charlie Phillips, Alfie Kilgour, Tom Fry, Sam Iles, Bradley Confrey (Sam Blake, 60), Connor Jones, Elliot Green, George Corp, Blake Davies, Olly Mehew (Dan Lammiman, 80), Lewis Ellington (Callum Bingham, 65) Substitutes: Kieran Hodges, Lewis Leigh-Gilchrist Read more at www.bristolrovers.co.uk/news/article/rovers-under-18s-win-again-2716303.aspx#IBkFXpFWwgXBgh0W.99

Loved Dc on Points West tonight, told the players to show they are good enough for a top 7 finish or it will be adios and they will be gone.

Lets face it the winners here are Trash, they delayed the planning application long enough for Sainsburys to wriggle out of it. Ferguson has said its a awful decision for Rovers and Bristol but its his councillor for sport that's f******g responsible for this.

Finally we will get to know either way! Appeals pending, at least we can finally put this whole farce to bed once and for all.
For what it's worth this is my prediction on the verdict:
Justice Proudman will concur with Sainsbury's view that the contract had lapsed and so they are not compelled to complete the contract in full. However, she will find that they allowed Rovers to incur additional costs in pursuit of the sale when they had no intention to complete. Therefore, she will rule that Sainsbury's should compensate Rovers for the costs incurred, however Sainsbury's will not be liable for the full contract cost of £30m. A result that will write off the stadium losses incurred to date by Rovers but not the 'golden ticket' to get the UWE built. Rovers stay at the Mem (and retain ownership), but get enough cash to pay off the Wonga loan (which Rovers will argue was an additional cost of pursuing the stadium sale) and all other stadium sunk costs.
That would be as good a settlement as I think we can expect, draw a line under Sainsbury, recover costs and move on to plan B.
