The contract has been reneged upon, decision hinged on a single inconsistently-applied technicality, and he doesn't feel culpable.
He look shell-shocked, though.

and he doesn't feel culpable. So, the blame culture continues. Sad and predictable.

Time for Mr Higgs to stand down, don't you all think ? We have thankfully, regained league status - we are still a club to invest in - let's hope (although I don't expect him to) he stands down.
I will be showing my desire for this to happen in August when I attend games.
PLEASE NICK STAND DOWN for the respect of all GASHEADS !!

Good summary Astafjevs. Since I noted it down, the full transcript from the statement by Nick Higgs on Points West was: "We've entered into a contract which has been reneged upon. It's been acknowledged in the judgement that it's been reneged upon. There's numerous breaches of that contract and a decision's been made on one technical element of a clause which has been inconsistently recorded in the judgement. "So I don't feel culpable for that decision. "We've done everything in our power to try to bring the club a new stadium to offer sustainability to this club". A Durden also reported Sainsbury's statement: "This case proves that we [Sainsbury's] have acted in good faith and obeyed the law".

Yes there are breaches and they have wanted to get out of the deal. For that he is not culpable.
However technicalities are what this sort of thing is based on and we entered into those technicalities when signing the contract

But he declared it watertight and tried to get the courts to enforce it.

Lets face it the winners here are Trash, they delayed the planning application long enough for Sainsburys to wriggle out of it. Ferguson has said its a awful decision for Rovers and Bristol but its his councillor for sport that's f******g responsible for this.

a decision's been made on one technical element of a clause which has been inconsistently recorded in the judgement. Oh Lordy, he's going to appeal. When he's totally bankrupted our club, will he actually be happy then!

I would imagine that his position at the club is now untenable and I expect that he will step away. I hope / expect that a buyout will be forthcoming with people who have more acumen and leverage than Mr Higgs and his group. The time for change is now ripe. UTG

From what I have read (and I am likely misinterpreting it) was that we helped cause our own problem in relation to the cut-off date by agreeing with Sainsbury’s weak appeal on the delivery hours. Once it failed there was not adequate time to submit and pass a further appeal before specified cut-off times and whatever clauses
If we had not accepted Sainsbury’s appeal and asked for it to be better drawn up in the first place we may have jumped that hurdle in time
Someone with a better grasp of it all might put me straight but that was what I was taking from it

Higgs step down and leave the board! Having to pay out your share of the club with no other viable investors is the only sensible thing to do now!
My mates, brothers, dogs, brother belongs to someone in the know, who says this is the right thing to do. In time you will look back on this post and understand i was right all along!
In all seriousness, its easy for people of want Higgs gone, and its understandable why, but at the moment there isn't anyone else stupid enough to take over the club, or his position.
