Sorry, I know it's not Rovers related but someone has to mention this!
Lee Johnson has been given permission by Barnsley to be the new City manager.
To me, this means the 40 or so applicants who applied for the job, were not good enough, so they approached Barnsley for their manager, who has no Championship experience as manager!
Don't know about you, but I am finding this all extremely amusing!

He did get Barnsley to the final of the Paint Pot last night.

Would be very strange to leave Barnsley where he's done an excellent job in turning them around, cup final booked at Wembley and realistic contenders for the Championship playoffs, to go back to the potentially League 1 bound club that sacked his old man after getting them to a single match away from the Premier League and where he was all of the cretins' favourite scapegoat! Very strange indeed.

I think it is all rather strange. They came out saying they had some fantastic names who have applied for the job, who have a lot of quality and they got over 40 applicants to choose from. They have took a lot of time in making their minds up, using up the whole transfer window in the process.
Now, instead of picking someone who actually wants the job, who apparently has a lot of quality, they instead approach someone else who didnt actually apply for the job and have to try and persuade him to leave his current position.
I would love to see the names of these 40 applicants just to compare.

But however many did apply, they obviously do not have quality if City have decided to go for a manager with no Championship experience and no relegation battle experience. Will hebe calling daddy for help? DoF role?

Will hebe calling daddy for help? DoF role? Forgive me if he has been given the job as I have not had a browse as yet and will do so after posting. Steve Lansdown has already effectively sacked his son, from any meaningful part of running the club, that is how I see the appointment of the ex Oxford head honcho. I think he ( SL) certainly now or so it seems, has either lowered his own expectations for them lot down the road or he is just not prepared to put the huge amounts of money in, that he has before. Regardless of our own bias, this is an astute businessman and he is not going to continually loose the many millions that he has already done. If I were a Ted, I'd be a bit worried right now. The funny part is they have become reliant upon and ergo used to just holding their hands out and their benefactor has stumped up the millions. If I were a betting man then I'd wager his interest has cooled and significantly swing in the favour of the Rugby and in him really wanting to leave a legacy. I would imagine that the guy who is running the show now, I forget his name, has been given a strict remit within which he has to work and that means a budget to work to. We saw Steve Cotterill publicly try to shame SL into paying the inflated wages and look how that turned out. However I spin it, I can't see him allowing them to be relegated this season & I expect a flurry of loans coming in. Please put me right here but someone told me that clubs are only allowed a certain amount of loans but I have not found any evidence of that. I think that IF they get Johnson, this will be with knowing his father has the contacts and hoping this can help. Just my two penny worth fella. I see Bristol RFC being in prime spot with the 82 LTD taking a back seat along with the others, under Bristol sport. The days of SL handing out the large amounts are over. Interesting times indeed. I wonder what my father would have made of it ? He always wanted Bristolian clubs to do well. It used to wind me up but, dare I say it on here, I am starting to feel that way myself as I age. Now, Kevlar in place, I await the cries of outrage

I will have to give him a call and ask him to have a word like. We used to rip the pi55 out of him but truth is that he really is close to them and we used to get some good Intel from him.

I dont think there is a max limit on how many loans you can get. But you can only have a max of 5 loans in your starting 11 and subs (match day squad). I think having Bristol sports has distracted SL. I think he should have kept it all seperate! But im not complaining

No need to speculate or overly concern ourselves, our old friend Kaiser will be along anytime now to let us know how it's all going, down in deepest BS3. Actually I'm surprised that he hasn't visited us already.

From the FA Handbook

Perfect, the appointment of a man that Gasheads can genuinely have a proper hatred for from the off! It's just a shame a hell of a lot of Sheeds also detest the spawn of that cockney dwarf dousche.

Well I guess we should be flattered in their learning from us as and possibility appointing a young, up and coming manager. Trouble is it looks like they have only got one of those two qualities.
Oh....and remember what happened in our first season with said manager who took over from a more experienced manager with just a few games to go. Bring it on.....!

I find it hard to believe with £9m to sign a player they SL/SC could find one to sign?

hes done well at oldham and barnsley with limited resources so if city decided to go for an up and coming young manager it makes sense for them
