Who do you fancy?
I hope for Wales,Scotland and England.
It crossed my mind England could be 7 0 down at ht against Scotland. This after a Scot referred to one of our players as an 'English bas****'. Triggering mass protest.Three or four chasing the referee ,others taking the knee, including the GK and Rashford insisting on being substituted ,to make an early start on his article for the Guardian.
Gary Lineker teaching us better.Etc.
Interesting to see who wins this changed tournament.I reckon the usual suspects will make the last 4,England included.
🏴🏴🏴
PS.I thought we might prefer this on this section of the forum?

Italy versus Turkey in Rome, kicks off this different EC.
I suppose we fancy the Italians ay?
I once worked with some Turks on the 'building' ,in Basel.I remember one told me he was Italian.Think he wanted to see if he could pass as an Italian, which he could as as i was concerned.
Another time on the scaffold,we were going through a few national anthems - this site was like the UN - singing away. I did ours, another Turk did theirs and the French one got a 'spin'. I started the German anthem and a cry of 'not that bloody one' came from a Swiss bloke,in his garden, across the road.😏
The same Turk that did their anthem,at "nueny" (tea break) ,asked me if I could do the Benny Hill theme tune, this after i suggested the Brits could send in Mr Bean and Benny Hill to sort out a crisis in some part of the world or other.Quite a complicated tune for a Turk perhaps?I mean some Turkish music kind of sounds complicated to me.Anyway, I can still see how this tough builders face lit up,once I started ,"dil dil dil didda didda ,dil dil didda didda, dil di-dil di-dil didda di".That was nice.
I got a lift to work and back home with these Turks, a giant of a Yugoslavian joined us too (Yugoslavians big blokes!). The 'Italian Turk',the driver (had an old Ford Escort) would pipe up "Stevie sing!"So I would muster up the energy (the Swiss worked us Auslanders hard) and sing abit.Fair enough because I'm not sure if he would take petrol money.
"Goodnight Irene" was a regular.

Italy win 3-0 at a canter, and the northern hoardes WILL now take the knee while I take a hit chocolate break

The top 10 rankings from FIFA are: Belgium, France, England, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Denmark, Germany, Swiss & Croatia.
Belgium look like favourites with a formidable squad inc: De Bruyne, Hazard, Lukaku, Tielemans, Mertens & Courtois.
I am rating England as the dark horses (let's hope we are still in it after 2 games).
Would not like to be in the group of death F, Germany, Portugal, France & Hungary.

I thought the Italians were very good last night. I do wonder how good Turkey really were though?

Good luck to Connor Roberts this afternoon. I thought he was distinctly average for us, but seems to have justified the potential that some saw in him
Good luck to Locks if he gets on too

I don’t know how they put together those rankings and how Belgium would be first. When did they last make it to even a semi final in any international competition ? It looks very far from reality & I’d like to know the parameters which they use, to come to this conclusion.

As usual, They do as they are told by England. I bet your average Jimmy would be really quite angered by this. It’s bizarre and even I am getting fed up of it. If they want to do something meaningful then donate to the USA NACCP. At least it could make a difference. I don’t deny racism isn’t in football but the incident that triggered this was in a country some 4000 miles away. Yes, we do have racists here but, unless you have been to the US of A then you could never understand the huge gulf between racism here and how genuinely sickening it is, over there

I see he appeared in 2x League, 2x FA Cup, and 1x EFL Trophy. His first game being a 3-2 away win at Northampton. My memory of the time is always wondering why he'd never been given a proper run out.

You just have to look at what's been happening recently, with racist comments to players on social media, like Marcus Rashford, and closer to home Mark Little, to see it is still very much relevant right now. If you're starting to get fed up with a show of solidarity for just 5 seconds of time, I find that rather sad KP.

Dreadful singing of the National Anthem - expect better than that from the Welsh players!

If you're starting to get fed up with a show of solidarity for just 5 seconds of time, I find that rather sad KP. Please tell me what it is actually doing, other than virtue signalling ? If UEFA said we are all going to do this then I’d understand it more but I just see it as yet another thing that actually achieves nothing. I could tell you about the racism I had and as a white man but I don’t let it define me nor my life. We have the kick it out campaign and now respect campaign. If the authorities and stewards policed the rules of this properly then many more would learn that there can be absolutely no racist chants nor even discussion, even if in hushed tones. We really should be kicking it out and anyone that is heard talking in that manner. I can’t do anything that you find my view sad but , as I have said, please tell me what taking the knee has actually achieved ? The gesture comes out of a book which later got made into the TV programme, game of thrones. The only thing it’s achieved, to date, is to have large groups of fans boo. If booing is seen as a success then they have at least achieved that
