Can't help feeling that we're seeing the slow demise of the SC in its present form. The sale of 199 and the acrimony surrounding the 'departure' of the staff. Lack of information regarding BSS's departure and no decision, apparently, about the situation regarding a second SC Director The whole embezzlement issue and how it was dealt with. Saying that the AGM would be in October and then announcing December. The widespread feeling that KM fails to engage with fans and lack of clarity around the end of his tenure, with no notice being given of election/s at the AGM. Uncertainty around the nature of the relationship between the SC and the present owners (and any possible future owner/s) Good people continuing to keep the SC alive, but little sign of engagement with, and recruitment of, younger members and volunteers. Perhaps now is the time for a constructive debate about the need for, and the role of, any supporters' organisation beyond fundraising for the club and doing jobs which otherwise the club would have to pay people to do. Plenty talk the talk about helping THEIR CLUB but keyboard warriors don't stand out in the rain and winds selling 50/50 tickets and programmes. I admire those individuals who actually help their Club in any capacity. They deserve to be treated with RESPECT. I don't see any disrespect for those people? Pirate 49 is spot on in his assessment imo.

Continuing our now regular headings I can advise on another couple of issues that we dealt with at our meeting on the 10th. Firstly we have set the date of our Annual General Meeting for Thursday, December 6th. News of this has leaked out already and a few members have complained at the late date. However, it is better to get things right after the embezzlement scandal of the previous year so we have, rightly in my opinion, taken our time on the accounts which were formally passed by the committee at the meeting and all the officers now have to prepare their reports. More details on this important meeting will be made available through our website and all the usual channels, including this column for those who are not on line.
So someone leaked the news. Shocking. Fourteen days notice is all that's required. Fancy anyone ignoring what's set out in the rules and regs. 7.1 The BRSC financial year shall end on 30th June each year 8.1 The Annual General Meeting (“AGM) will be held within 4 months of the end of the financial year Im interested who and why some people are bothered by the late date? Were they washing their hair that night?

From the Wimbledon programme
So instead of commenting on what happened on the pitch the chance presents itself to give the Supporters Club’s small army of matchday volunteers another big ‘thank you’ for their efforts in what has not been a very pleasant season to date. Not only have Rovers suffered a series of home defeats (four such League reverses being unprecedented at this stage of the season) but we have also not enjoyed the best of weather either with a couple of good unseasonal soakings for those working outside. So I would just like to pay tribute to those who help this football club to function on a matchday, many of whom will be familiar faces to most fans in and around the stadium.
Ron Thorne is a well known example as he sells programmes up on Filton Avenue alongside 50/50 seller, Pete Collins. Both of them are very important members of the team because of the volume of their respective sales but few people know that Ron is usually ‘first on duty’ as he is always in early to sort the programmes and load up the trollies ready for the other sellers when they arrive for duty. On a bad day, like the previous two Saturdays have been, Ron has already had a good soaking before anyone else arrives! Not all get wet of course – Phil Draper, Janet Wooster and Jamie Howarth man our matchday cabin and Phil is another early attender and is also one of the last to leave after cashing-up.
Hidden out of sight in our office cabin are Sue Williams and Samantha Parsons who sort the cash and 50/50 tickets and who now curse the new family stand that completely blocks our already-restricted view of the pitch. So they see nothing of the game until we can get the half-time draw done and dusted and then it’s back to work finishing-up after the final whistle. I could mention others who miss a lot of what we really have come to see, the Rovers playing football, but when things are not going so well with the team it is timely to thank all our helpers for their efforts and the sacrifices they make – rain or shine!
Jim Chappell.

Hats off to all the voluntary work done by all these people. No-one disrespects them. Seems to me the problem lies with the 'people at the top' and the structure of the SC - so Pirate49 summed it up well. And if Angas (who I have never met, but trust everything she writes here) says that the assessment is spot on - then that is good enough for me.

No she doesn't. That's why she asked if KM still contributes. Seems odd his section of the SC website hasn't been updated for so long, don't you think?

My son and I tried to join the SC a few years ago - I was told I was "too late". I asked when the cut-off point for joining was, and the person in the Club Shop said they didn't know. That was my personal experience of the SC. Sub-optimal.

That was my personal experience of the SC. Sub-optimal. That was the opinion of a very small number of people less than 1 percent of the membership who thought they knew best and walked away when they didn't get what they wanted As for membership I find that very difficult to understand because you can join at any time but it is much better to join at beginning of season to get full value.

Chris Walker resigned for personal family reasons and they are looking for another IT person to undertake this task any volunteers ...please form an orderly queue ! This is the problem Harry. The SC is stuck in the 1970s, as it is right now it doesn't appeal to youngsters so no fresh blood is coming through, so there's an ever decreasing pool of people to deal with management and maintenance. It's dying on its feet. I haven't looked around at what's happening at other clubs, but suspect that 2 things are going on, there will be SCs like ours that are still operating in black and white, and others that have moved with the times, to do that needs some form of catalyst, it won't just happen. It's going to need the remaining people to decide that they don't want as their legacy that they were part of the final committee that allowed the SC to become increasingly more irrelevant, and then cease to be. But someone has to get off of their arse and make this happen. You need to get out there and find people, a couple of young eager helpers aren't going to just walk into a committee meeting consisting of people mostly in their late 50s and 60s or even older, all sat around bitching about the view from the match day office, introduce themselves and offer to update the website, get the SC sorted with social media and give them some commercial ideas so that they can start to generate their own revenue again (I'll bet you a shiny new penny that they don't even discuss what they are going to do on the commercial front, which is insane given the captive market we have and this clever new fangled thing called the internet). Where's the SC Fan's Channel on YouTube? I could go on all day, but this is what's needed, of course they are struggling to get people to come forward to give up precious time when all they want to do is the same stuff, some of which is probably 30 years out of date now.

Admirable sentiments but when they read comments like that or some others on here what is the incentive for youngsters to put themselves for ward only to be shot at by those self same people who are still bitter about their failure 12 years ago. If you are a member then fine but why not go to the AGM and put forward some proposal. If you are not then why not because you cannot change the rules of any club if you are not a member. Simplistic I know but true

I reckon Bamber could do a great job on the BRSC committee and become the new Ken Masters going round the ground asking fans views and getting things done. I am going to nominate him for the AGM. He can make BRSC Great again.
